Inaugural Disney Wine&Dine**1/2 Marathon** Post Race Discussion!

I am thinking maybe someone would like to start a list of people who have registered and where they are staying. Incase people want to share rides or taxi's and stuff.
Also, any thoughts as to a meet?? POP, All Star SPorts food court for a get together like around 4:00-5pm and a group shot?? Anyone?

I can't believe you did a race in that heat last night. At least the humidity wasn't that bad, but still I broke a sweat walking to the pizza place a block away.

I agree, I would rather have it be cooler than hot. I've taken to the farmer's almanac and hoping that it's correct (it says Fair). Yup I'm crazy.

I'm just the opposite. I would rather be too warm than even a little bit cold. 80s would be fine with me.

I am wondering about running on the major roads in the dark. Worried more about the traffic than stumbling over my own feet. :rotfl2:

That would be a great idea...Id love to meet some new DISers :goodvibes Let me know if we get something started and I can help out :thumbsup2

I went to a running store today (I had off today). I got a great pair of shoes and it was a very neat process (running barefoot on the treadmill, measuring my foot and arch, running outside and back on the treadmill with different shoes). I learned more about my feet today than I ever cared to know .

I actually did this myself recently, but it sounds like your experience was much more detailed, thats really neat!! What kind of shoes did you end up with??
I am actually the most indecisive person ever so I made the store employee help me choose...but it helped so much because earlier this year I ran a 10k in the wrong shoes and ended up fracturing along my big toe area

I ended up with the Asics GT-2150. He told me I have a pretty normal foot except my arch is pretty low. He picked out the Asics and the Brooks Adrenaline (which they're apparently Runner World's top running shoe of 2010). I ran outside with both of them for awhile and I really liked both. Then when I ran on the treadmill we both could hear that with the Asics it didn't sound like I was striking the ground as hard (also found out when I ran barefoot that I'm a hard heel striker). They both were extremely comfortable and only $5 more than I could get them for on www.roadrunnersports.com.

I bought the Adidastar Salvation late last year and ran a 10k with them in April and the toe box was so wide (and I was wearing the wrong socks) that my foot kept sliding forward and hitting the front of the shoe. I lost two toenails! (they grew back, thank goodness). I tried changing socks but there is just too much room. I ran 7 miles yesterday in the Asics and felt great during and after with no toe problems.

I really liked this running store. The guy that owns it is the only one that works there and he was very helpful. He even lets people return shoes after they buy them and try them out for awhile if they don't work :thumbsup2.

Injuries are the worst :headache:. I'm glad you recovered and got a good pair of shoes though!:goodvibes

(By the way, I see you're in Richmond. If you're ever in the Hampton Roads area the name of the store is Runner's Source and it's in Newport News)

I know this is just speculation at this point, since it's a new race, but do Disney races usually have pace bunnies? Or is your pace sort of strictly sorted by corral?

I would be glad :)to do a list of where everyone is staying. I started one on the warriors already.
Just let me know where you are staying and when you are coming in. Then we could see if we could get a meet.:grouphug:

I would hazard a guess that we will not share a road with traffic and in the event we do, that segment will be heavily coned with a buffer lane included.

Pace is sorted by corral. I recent years Cliff has sponsored the pace team....but I am not sure that is happening this event. Disney should start to release additional details in August...

Oh yeah and the Marathon was fun and the half while fun wasn't fun after. I also thought the cold kept alot of us from meeting up before and after the race which to me is all a part of the experience. Those family reunion tents before each race were pretty empty unlike the two previous years.

I agree that I have not seen the family reunion area so empty pre-race - or post race. I did miss seeing certain friends in race morning but as far as the race, the temps kept me from experiencing a PW.

Kathy

That is so nice of you, Kathy!

DD and I will be running the half. We will be staying at BCV. DH and I will be arriving on 9/29 and DD on 9/30. We plan to attend MNSSHP on Sunday 10/3. DD leaves on 10/4 and DH and I leave on 10/6.

We'll be at the BWI from 10/1 to 10/3. Just a quick weekend trip, since we both have to be back at work on the 4th.

Hey Tracy!

I didn't realize you were doing this race also.....it will be great to see you again!

We are staying at OKW....all 10 of us! Not entirely sure how to get from here to there but we'll figure it out somehow.

Hi,
DW and I are staying at AKV Kidani Village and staying from Sept 30th to Oct 5th. It looks like we will both be doing the Mickey 5k in the am and I am doing the Wine & Dine in the evening, so we will be partying at the MNSSHP on Sunday.:cool1:

I'm at POFQ from 10/1 - 10/5. I'm doing the Boma meet in 10/1 and MNSSHP on 10/3 and am really hoping for a F&W meet on 10/4.

Dh and I are staying offsite 10/1, then BCV for the night of the race, then on to Kidani for 2+weeks. Not sure yet about the Boma dinner, but we definitely would be able to attend a F&W on 10/4.

I'll be doing a quick 10/1 to 10/3 trip staying at POP and I'll be at the Boma meet on the 1st.

I am guessing long time WISH team members have WISH shirts, but what does everybody wear race day to identify themselves as disers?
I'm thinking of getting a lime green tank...

I know that this thread was started with a very similar question, but there has been no word as to if we could get the order in for the W&D 1/2.
