Inaugural 3/31/12 Fantasy Cruise

:welcome: to the group.

Since we are so close I don't think we can come up with an excuse not to have a pre-cruise meet.

I am Jon and my DW is Candida.

Hey Michelle and Jon,

If you decide to meet, DH Rick and I would like to join in. It would be nice to do it in the fall. Just was in the area visiting Brock University. QEW was closed and we had to take the back roads through all the vineyards from Grimsby to St. Catherine's. It would be great to meet at a quaint vineyard over a wonderful glass of wine. My preferred drink is a margarita on a disney cruise, but a glass of wine with fellow Fantasy MV cruisers in Niagara region would be the next best thing.

Glad you could join us on the boards! Have you cruised before?
You are correct....It will be a great cruise!!!!!.....I can't wait.

I'm researching my family tree and my family was in the Kingston/Brantford area of Ontario.....Can't wait to go there someday. Bet it's beautiful there. Which province are you from?

Hi Denise,

Brantford is about a 30 minute drive from my home. My son is looking at going to a university in Brantford, and his best friend attends Queen's University in Kingston which is about 3+ hrs east of us. It is a beautiful city. I spent an afternoon watching sail boats and enjoying a stroll along the St. Lawrence River, as my son helped his friend move into residence.

Looking forward to meeting you on the cruise,
Patti

Patti,
How cool is that! If you have ever been to the Bell Home then you have seen my families furniture! It was donated to them as my great great great grandfathers brother was Alexander Bell's friend and the mayor. I also have family from Adolphustown! It will be nice to meet you on the cruise!

Hi there! Booked this a while back, but have been too busy to post. After watching the Dream online I just had to book the inaugural for the Fantasy. A once in a lifetime kind of thing! So, on this cruise will be myself DW Michelle, DH Derek, and DD Maggie (10 at time of cruise).

:welcome: to the group.

Another Southern Ontario cruiser checking in (Hamilton area)....I'd love to meet up before the cruise...the only problem is that my Mom is my travelling buddy and she has no idea she is booked on this cruise....I was supposed to travel with a friend but after cruising on the MV of the Dream and having so much fun, I decided to surprise my Mom with this cruise....it's been about a month and I have been able to keep the secret.....deciding when to tell her is the big decision now...I am considering Mother's Day while we are on the first DCL Alaskan cruise....

Elaine - I think it would make a great Mother's Day present! (What will you do if she ever starts reading the DISboards?:lmao:)

Denise,

I had to google Adolphustown .... it is a small town (intersection) near Kingston. It is right on Lake Ontario - too small of a port for the Fantasy. Interesting family history in Brantford. My grandmother's family is from the area, but I am not sure how far back it dates. I will have to check it out.

No worries Lynn...Mom doesn't understand computers...all she knows how to do is turn it on!!!!!

Welcome to the group! I have added your family to the crew log. :)

Ok If the Dream has 6 different horns the Fantasy has to too!!
1. When you Wish Upon a Star
2. Be Our Guest
3. Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee
4. Its a Small World
...5. Yo Ho
6. A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes

I was so excited I had tears!!!

The "horn wars" with the Magic were lots of fun to listen to! They would be even more fun between the Dream and the Fantasy!

I am here! We are book and ready to wait!

It's me, Annie Snuffer, DH, and DS4

Welcome to the group!

Hi, we booked the Fantasy Maiden Voyage several months ago and I am just now getting around to joining this thread.

This will be our 5th DCL cruise and our first Maiden Voyage.

I was SO going to wait until later in 2012 to book on the Fantasy. But, then, as someone else mentioned, all the press surrounding the Dream Maiden Voyage destroyed my good intentions to wait for a better price and I caved! :rotfl:

Wow.. ok.. call me dumb or just good luck.. We have been on two cruises with DCL.. and the third is the Alaska in 56 days :cool1:

So far, once we put our down payment on the room via our TA, even though the rooms go up on new reservations, our price never does.. Heck.. we paid in full our Alaska cruise Jan 1.. we have gotten two refunds as the room price has DROPPED on the Alaska cruise. nothing like getting money back..

So. as far as going up.. I've seen other people mention this, once the deposit is down, can they jack the price up? Or are you and others waiting to grab a room?

Hate to get my final bill in December and have a heart attack and not make the cruise :)

On a side note.. wife and I are having a baby soon and would like to bring the baby on the MV.. At what point do we need to call our TA to get the baby booked? will it drive the cost up much, as a infant doesn't eat much :)

I would add your baby to the reservation now also. The charge for baby could match the rate for you or your wife the way prices are going up already.

I have always watched the rates go up for cruises we have already booked. Our price doesn't increase but it amazes me how much we save sometimes by booking early. When you are paying as much as we are for this cruise it does help to be able to say "I saved us $2000 booking the cruise when I did. " ;) Usually this doesn't happen until much closer to the sail date. The way the cruises are booking up lately is just insane!

Dont quote me on this, and I can be wrong, but I think up to a certain age, (like 2 or 3 yoa) you pay the port costs and taxes for the child(ren). Im not sure if its accurate, but at the moment, a child under the age of 2 in a 5c, is 717 and the same cabin for a 4 year old is 1435 according to DCLs site.

Thank you for the welcome. Our travel party will be me and my DF, John. We are died in the wool Disney freaks. We are DVC owners (BLT, SSR, BC), D23 members, Annual Passholders, and Disneyana Club members. IF it's Disney, we're probably involved. :woohoo:

Did anyone on this thread also cruise on the Dream Maiden Voyage? I'd love to hear if they thought it was worth paying the premium price.

Welcome!!! We're also in central NJ, close to Princeton. Where are you? I booked back in late Jan and at the time we also were considering Allure or Oasis whichever one was an eastern for this week. We prefer the eastern itinerary but couldn't pass up a inaugural on DCL. Believe it of not (at that time), the pricing was pretty much the same between the Fantasy and Allure/Oasis for this week, which solidified us doing the Fantasy (the non refundable deposit was holding us back).

This changed with 2010 cruises. Children under 3 now pay 50% of the fare for a 3rd or 4th passenger in the room in addition to fees & taxes. Before then they used to only pay the taxes and port charges which would normallly not exceed $100 on a 7 night cruise.
