Inaugural 3/31/12 Fantasy Cruise

Question - I am already booked on this MV cruise as a single, however if I decide to add someone to my stateroom do I have to pay the current rate or am I locked in at the original rate I booked the trip on?

GOOD MORNING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS! YOU SET SAIL IN 60 WEEKS! THAT IS 420 DAYS!

As long as I can remember to do it, I plan on doing a screen capture every week of the webcam. We went to the yard when the Dream was being built, but it was nearly completed by then. Want to watch the progress every week.

Couldn't tell you for sure:confused3 but I would suspect they might try to charge you the current rates.

The additional person would be charged the current rate when you add them on. The price went up quite a bit about a week ago. You might want to go ahead and do that now, as well as making sure that there is still space in the lifeboat section your current stateroom is in. They do close bookings for a section once that number has been reached no matter how many people are booked in each room.

THis would be great to see. :)

I have to say it feels kind of weird to be chatting and making plans about a cruise on a ship that isn't even built yet!

Any of you Dream MV cruisers want to offer up any tips that you learned from being part of a MV?

Any of you Dream MV cruisers want to offer up any tips that you learned from being part of a MV?

My tips from having just come back from the Dream MV are
  • enjoy the experience for what it is in the ships own right and not compare it to the other ships you may have already been on - it won't meet your expectations if you do
  • Go with the flo and ignore the rudness of others - there were an awful lot of rude people on the Dream who complained about the slightest thing
  • Understand that even though there are experienced crew on board there will always be newbies. It will take time to get things flowing right
  • Take time to walk the ship and get to see all the wonders it has to offer - yes even climbing the 14 decks worth of stairs is worth it to see the art work in the stair wells

I am sure others will have their own tips too!

Welcome aboard to all of the Fantasy MV cruisers! :yay:

Welcome back to all of the Dream MV crew. It was such a wonderful trip! :flower3:

sorry we never got to meet up for that lunch or coffee - like a numbskull I left the list with folks rooms numbers on at home so I wasn't able to catch up with you or arrange for our girls to meet either. Grrr will have to make sure we get that sorted for the next one!!

I just set up this group. DCL Fantasy Maiden Voyage Cruisers

It is currently set as a secret group which means both the content and members are private. You have to request to join and be approved to view & post. We found that the posts you make to those private groups are not visible on your wall or info. That way no names are out there with location as to who is on this cruise. I also did not put the date of the cruise in the title or the description so that can't be tracked. After 7 years of cruising I prefer to keep as much information off a public board as possible. You never know who is tracking when a group of people are going to be away from home. Let me know what you think.
Just sent a request to join! Been off of here for a bit and so much has happened!

I totally agree. I know that this one will be one week, but we did not have enough time to do all things we would have liked to get done. In the week you may be able to, but don't fret if you don't. Come with alot of patience and understanding-which I needed when standing in the guest services line. Even at 11:30pm the lines were still long.
Just go with the flow and enjoy!!
Our servers were new, and I could tell our server was nervous. I think she got more nervous after the 2nd after she realized we knew the Food & Beverage Officer-Daniel. He had come to our table a couple of times. I believe after the MV they will build up their confidence and things will run more smoothly.
We had a great time, except with the merchandising chaos. The CM were amazing and so patient dealing with some of the rude passengers. I really applaud them.
All in all a great trip-just too short.
Bring an extra luggage for FE gifts and souveniers

Yes indeed,,,enjoy it. You will be amazed at some of the things (interactive art).

The bad experiences were more because of the selfish and rude passengers. And from what I could gather it wasn't those that have cruised Disney before.

The lobby is huge and beautiful!

We got a nice gift every night-book, keel coin and Ducky Williams print. I don't expect we'll get 1 every night on a 7 day but you'll get some nice stuff.

The RSP (Random Selection Process) was flawless. Maiden Voyage merch-jewelry, vinylmation, pins and other things. Most were limited edition from 25 to 1500 (some pins) while some of the items, mostly pins, were not limited. We got everything we wanted and were able to decline some of the items. Those not sold were eventually put in the store for those that didn't participate. Hopefully they'll extend the RSP to some of the wearable items.

Food was the best ever, according to my wife and pretty darn good according to me. AP was very cool while RP and EG were beautiful.

Cast members were great though some were obviously new

There will be some problems but none that you should let bother you.

I thought the elevators were faster with the only problem those that just don't know elevator etiquette. Let people off before you try to get on!

People have said the pools are smaller. I don't think so, appear to be about the same size but with more people on board that could be a problem.

Since the ship is under construction I'm sure they'll make some adjustments based on what they've found out about the Dream.

Remember, it's the first and you'll always be able to say you were there. Don't let others ruin your good time!

Our family is doing a 5 day on the Dream in July and I'm sure it will be as good or better than the MV while my wife has talked some girlfriends into a 3 day in September. Got to start the newbies off with a shorter trip. I get to stay home with the boys. She'll reach platinum on that one while we become Platinum on the MV.

Looking forward to meeting many of you! (And while I haven't recognized many names I expect some of the Dream MV'ers will be on this one too!

My understanding is they will be very similar.

Anybody heard any differences. I'm guessing dining rooms might be! Will there be an Aquaduck II?

I'm so glad that other people find this bizarre on cruises...I never understand why people forget this common courtesy on cruses......but I'm not complaining because when I'm reminded of this phenomena I'm on a cruise!!

I would imagine that the Royal dining room will be a bit different on the Fantasy, though I am hoping it isn't. This is just based on the Magic/Wonder set up.

LOL! You know, we figured out the system on our first cruise with two kids in strollers. If you are a couple decks from the top and want to go down, just get on the elevator going up...it will be going down in a minute and it could be full on the way back down so you won't fit. This also works when on deck 3 and you want to go up. Get on the down elevator that goes all the way to deck 1 before switching direction. ;) I tried to help someone out last month when we were waiting at the elevators and suggested they get on with us but she insisted she was going the other way. Should have seen her face when we returned with a now full elevator moments later then continued on our way...the way she had wanted to go. :rotfl:
