Inappropriate?

There are some place where people should not bring kids. This is one of them.

Well to answer your question I personally wouldn't take my young kids to such a thing. I think that in order to fully appreciate a Counterculture Festival of Euphoria, you first need to be old enough to understand the definition of Culture.

If I did absolutely need to go - we would attend the kid events.

If I felt a need to attend much after the early afternoon, I would get a babysitter. I think that the adults present at such an event have the right to Festival-Away without having to subject themselves to worry over whether or not their behavior might be inappropriate to the psyche of the occupants of my double stroller.

I totally agree with everything you've said. I'm a pretty liberal parent and it wouldn't bother me too much to expose my kids to something like this, but I still wouldn't take them. Plus if I attended what I hoped would be an adult event and had to share it with kids, I'd be pretty mad!

You've got to be kidding me, right? You can not be serious.

Please look at this from a child's point of view - it's not just about what you think is cool. Do something age appropriate.

Sure, go...why not! Every little boy should see naked men gyrating on a stage. Why would you even need to ask?

In one word NO!

Those are not events for kids, even though kid events may be offered. Your two are so little that they would get nothing out of them. It sounds like you want to go. If so, get a sitter and do it, but leave the kids at home!

I agree with MosMom Diane....take them! Maybe you can buy them some pink tu tus and ballet slippers while you are there. :)

Normally liberal here. Mostly looks like very adult entertainment to me. The kids stuff will probably be fun, yeah do that. We have transgendered friends from church and my son has seen our gay pride parade-which included entries from cross dressing clubs and "female impersonators." BUT...these festivals you are asking about seem to be pretty raunchy in reputation. I'd definitely keep the kids at home.

I just have to guess that this is just another attempt for attention. No one could be screwed up enough to expose their children to this, or rude enough to expose all of the adults to a couple a babies running around.

Michelle,

I truly hope that's all it is. No parent in their right mind would even consider taking their kids to this (I HOPE!)

Keep it age appropriate please, and take the kids to the Howl Jr. event. First off, no parent wants to expose their kids to these or any kind of club/drinking/pick up scene type adult activities, and second, no adults want little kids at an obviously adult themed party either. It lessens the fun for everyone!

I agree. There is a BIG difference between exposing kids to gay pride and gay friends, and taking kids to a raunchy adult party filled with all manner of sexual innuendo. I doubt most gay parents in their right mind would want their children at events like these either. They just are not age appropriate for anyone's children.

Why do some people think their kids need to go to EVERYTHING? Go, have a GREAT time! But get a babysitter! Let the kids be kids at home, then go to bed on time, while you go out and be an adult! It is OK to get a sitter once in a while so you can act like an adult! You don't have to drag your kids to everything YOU want to go to!

I've been to wigstock a couple of times....there are some mighty creative people to be found there....but no, I would not bring my small children to an event like that....I really can't see how this would be of interest to a young child, but perhaps a pre-teen or teen who is theatrical or artistic might enjoy it.
