Ina Garten on The Food Network

I will never forget the time she was making chicken - she went to a chicken yard, picked her chicken, came out with it, butchered in a brown paper bag. :scared1:

You do know where those chickens in the grocery store come from, don't you? What's the difference? At least she knew hers was fresh. :confused3

I also like Ina, and her recipes are great. Yes the Hampton's vibe seems a little snobby to me as well, but I do like her.
Martha, that's another story, she rubs me the wrong way (I'm fully aware that I'm in the minority here). To me she comes as patronizing and snobbish.
I also like Robin's Miller's ideas and organization, but I don't know...I have not had luck with her recipes. I wonder if is just me.

I don't know about Robin Miller. I could not trust the cooking ability of anybody that skinny. She looks like she needs to spend a few weeks letting Ina and Paula cook for her!

I think my problem with her is that EVERYTHING about her seems fake to me. And I know it isn't and I'm sure she's a wonderful person but it's that fakiness that drives me nuts.

She actually sounds like "home" to me, even though I grew up in CA. My mom and all her old friends are/were from Connecticut and Upstate New York, and Ina's manner of speech is *exactly* like a few of them, especially one of them. So it's like hanging out with my mom and her friends, back when I was a kid.

Though yes it sounds pretentious and fake...but it's not.

OK, you can't leave us hanging like this!! (Although I can probably make a good guess as to who you're talking about.)

Spill, spill!
Yeah, you DO know who the quoted poster means ;)

The only thing she says that makes me crazy is her "use a good vanilla" line.
Better than "EVOO" sixteen times in a half hour show :rolleyes2:

Missy1961,

My MIL actually does this for us. We will come home to milk, OJ, bread etc. It is very nice of her. She never travels so I am not sure what made her think to do this--thoughtfulness, I guess. :)
She often cooks us a meal too. :)

That's sweet.

I like Robin Miller's personality and that her food can be prepared quickly, but her food just seems so blah. She hardly uses any seasonings or anything. Its no wonder she's so thin. I don't think I've ever seen her make anything that made me think OMG I HAVE to make that!!

The only Food Netwrok people that I "Can't Stand" are the Neely's.

The ones who come close...I can tolerate them for a little while....are Rachael Ray, Paula Deen, Emeril(as long as it's not the live show which I hate), and Guy Fieri.

All the rest I really enjoy but my faves are Ina Garten, Bobby Flay, Alton Brown, and Tyler Florence.

Did anyone watch Next Food Network Star last night? There needs to be a thread for it! DH and I wanted the Asian lady to go home soooo badly but we knew she wouldn't.

I love Ina. The Food Network has changed so much over the last few years that her program is one of the few that I still enjoy. I run the other way when Rachael and Paula are on -- Paula's "cackle" is way more than I can tolerate, and Racheal is so fake I just turn her off (if she's still on). Both of them have been "over-exposed."

I like Ina and many of her recipes, that she does. I don't usually pay too much attention to the "themes" of her shows, just like to see the recipes and outcome!

I don't mind Ina, but I'm soo tired of hearing about Jeffrey. :rolleyes1

The Neely's
:scared1:... I am not a violent person but I think I could slap Mrs. Neely! if not more....LOL They have good food... but I turn the tv off if she wanders onto my tv screen.

I totally agree!! I can't stand either one of them. "Give me some sugga...zing zing zing its the spice fairy...

I love Ina. I think she is a fantastic cook and a great teacher. Sometimes the "themes" of her shows are funny, but I don't mind. I enjoy watching her cook.

I cannot stand the Neelys. Especially, the wife. Oy veh she gets on my nerves! The husband isn't so bad, but the minute they come on I have to turn the channel.

I agree with other posters that Ina's recipe for Brussell Sprouts is awesome. They are like candy. Even the kids really liked them. She also makes a really great Schuean (sp?) Noodles. A party favorite.

Nope.

Ever dine anywhere on vacation on a certain number of dollars a day? ;)

Yeah, I figured it was Rachael Ray. She has a reason to be a be-otch, her husband had piccadillos with porn stars. LOL, I would be a miserable ***** too.;):lmao:
