IN_LAW Families....ARRRRR

I live in the small town DH grew up in.....His parents live here, older sister, her DH, and older sisters two married kids and their toddler and younger age kids....

Well today was the Baptism of Dh's youngests nieces first born son.....Were we invited NO.....It just burns my britches....I work in the church so right on my schedule it listed the date and time of the baptism....So, I've know for a week hoping that someone would call us to invite us....

It wouldn't be so bad but my DH's family seems to pick and chose certain events that the don't invite us too...

First time it was a Christmas Eve Stocking exchange...(the big gift exchange of DH's family) they thought it would be too late at night for us with little kids to attend...Well, no kidding but at least give us the chance to decide....Then 2 years ago they planned an Easter Dinner without inviting us....we thought nothing was planned so we started calling to invite everybody to our house only to find out they were going to SIL's....Drives me crazyl...

I don't have any familly closer then 3 hrs and that just happen in the past 2 months prior my mom lived in FL and my Dad in NC....

OK, I did send a present today....One because I would have brought something if I had been invited and two I just needed to be a tade spiteful....

I wish ther was no such things as inlaws. Mine is a big PAIN!!! But my husband is great so I guess I will take the good with the bad!!!!

I'm sorry that happened. I come from a big family and we all live very close to each other. Sometimes it gets hard to decide where to draw the line. Some of us don't want as many people and some want everyone. I'm with you, the more the merrier.

I wish my inlaws and family would leave us out sometimes...lol.

I would be peeved too though...and the gift was a perfect way to handle it!

It's times like that when I am glad that we live far from our families. We love them but they drive us ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!!!!

I am shocked that you weren't invited. Strange.

I'm interested in hearing the reaction to the gift you sent.

Well!!! I would be steamed over this, too. But I love the way you handled it! I would love to see their faces when they see your gift.

zurgswife, you handled it beautifully!!! I don't think you were being spiteful, I think you were being a bigger person!!! I'm not married and I have a list of "in-law problems" a mile long!!!!.

The best one was when Christmas of 1996. DBF and I got engaged Christmas Day of 1995. For Christmas of 1996 DBF's sister was having everyone for Christmas at her house in Arizona and she sent a beautiful letter inviting everyone, with everyone's name on it including her niece's BF at the time but my name was nowhere on the letter and I was clearly left out. DBF didn't want to fly to Arizona around the holidays, but they kept pressuring him to come ALONE right up until Christmas eve, even after he had made plans to have Christmas with me and my family that year. Reasons like that -along with his manipulitive mother who has caused most of the problems- are why we never got married. He's a great guy and we're still together, but people keep asking me when the wedding is and I know I'm really bad, but I've begun answering "Right after the funeral!"

Kim, life is so unfair, you want your inlaws to invite you and they don't, I want my inlaws to NOT invite me, and they do, LOL.
SIL just had her third baby shower for the third baby and I didn't go, nor did I send a present, nor will I.
They left me out of the family last year, they can leave me out for the rest of their lives!
