Which is a better resort for Christmas time and in general....OKW or SSR? Thanks so much!

Not much help here.

We stayed at VWL last year and visited several resorts. All were beautiful! Each tree had its own theme based on the resort. It was a wonderful respite from the crowds in the parks and the greatest part it was FREE.

Some of the displays at the resorts had lovely gingerbread houses and merry go rounds (made from gingerbread too). Most of these had Hidden Mickeys or Tinkerbell to keep us entertained. Bought some stolen at BWV and it was the best I've ever tasted!

Make sure you pack lots of patience if going between Christmas and New Years. Packed in like sardines!

Make sure you check e guide times for your resort! Santa and Mickey and Minnie make visits up until Christmas Eve. You kids may really enjoy this.

don't know that it matters that much.

OKW studios have 2 real queen beds while SSR studios have 1 queen + 1 pullout sofabed. OKW 1BRs/2BRs have a sleeper chair to add a +1 to occupancy.

OKW is a little more beach themed and casual. SSR is a little more formal and luxury-oriented...in an upper-NY-ish style.

here are some pics to get you started:

If you didn't want the 2 queen beds in the studio at OKW, I would go with SSR because you're just a bit closer to DTD and there's community singers and music there. I like the feel of SSR. I would ask to be in Congress park if possible.

We've stayed at both at Christmas time and it's a toss up. They are both fantastic. If it matters, OKW has more square footage. :goodvibes:santa:

IMHO SSR is better for Christmas because of all the decorations and activies at DTD. It is great to be close to it without relying upon transportation.

It really depends on the amount of space you need and how much time you'll be in your villa. We spent the actual week before Christmas at OKW two years ago, and had two 2-bedroom villas for my family and my sister's. We had Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve in our 2 bedroom villa - there were 14 of us buffet style, we set up the patio table in the living room as well as having the dining room table, and my DSIS brought extra chairs from her villa - we had loads of room and had a fantastic time. We packed our own little 3 foot trees with mini decorations and had that on the buffet counter in the dining room the whole time lit up with other decorations here and there. I'm sure, after staying at SSR in a 2 bedroom last October, we would not have been able to accommodate all of us at once for a family gathering, but would have been fine if it had just been the 8 of us. So, like I said, it depends on your needs. We visit all of the 'hotel' DVC resorts like AKL, VWL and Beach Club, as well as the Grand Floridian to enjoy their beautiful decorations, but loved the space of OKW since we like to spend a lot of time eating and relaxing in our villa.:santa:

We actually stay at Bonnet Creek for Christmas itself. We can get a huge 2 bedroom for a week at a really, really good price. The points for a 2 bedroom at a DVC Christmas week would drain the ol' account quickly! However, we do stay in a DVC either before or after Christmas in a studio for 4-7 nights so we can be on property for part of our stay. I like all of them! OKW will give you the most space regardless of villa size (studio, 1 bdrm, etc.). We will be at SSR from 12/28 to 1/1 this year after our 7 nights at Bonnet Creek.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Decorations are nice at both places.

Of course if you want more room and a larger balcony then OKW.
