In your opinion, whats the worst job at Disney

Housekeeping.

I'm squeamish enough with my own family's germs, I could never deal with anyone else's. I'm sure they walk in on all sorts of interesting (cough) situations. They get yelled at for not doing a good enough job, or giving towel animals, or moving something out of its "spot"- no thank you! Plus the awkward families that won't leave the room when you clean and they just sit and watch?

Horse poo isn't that bad. It's not like meat eating animal poo... much less stinky. That is, of course, my opinion as a horseback rider of 20 years, give or take some time off for injuries, pregnancy, and being in Iraq.

I think the worst job would have to be a bus driver. Dealing with cranky, tired guests at the end of a day.. not fun. At least the Mears drivers aren't Disney, so they don't count, though driving the ME bus back to the airport would be teh suck.

You're right, that would be a lousy job. In recent years, I've told various people I've been with on the safari that there used to be a live person standing by the truck waving and shouting that Little Red was OK. All have looked at me like I'm mistaken or making it up. Glad you confirmed that I'm not crazy to remember that. :rotfl:

Little Red Guy must have lost his job around the same time as the guy from the Rock n Roller Coaster preshow. "Hey Chris, can you grab my black Les Paul?" *remove guitar, wait for preshow room to clear, return guitar. All. day. long. I always thought that must've been a boring job, but I still look for him every time.

Housekeeping.

I worked a week at a very nice hotel during my college days. I got so grossed out (honeymoon room) that I left mid shift. :scared1:

It tainted the way I look at hotel rooms, period.

Last time I was at Disney I noticed a maintenance worker having to take cigarette butts out of the receptical at a DSA. Even wearing gloves I thought at the time what a disgusting job to have to do.

I couldn't do up-chuck. The smell makes me gag! :headache: If I ever see a CM having to clean that up, I always walk over and thank them for the good work they do...poor kids! :goodvibes

Having just returned from a 10 day trip at WDW, I witnessed a few jobs that left me thinking "how do they do that for 8 hours a day?" Here they are:

- Being the CM on the TTA, the one right when guests get on and off the ride. They have to walk all day because the platform keeps moving. Seemed very monotonous.
- Being a CM on Spaceship Earth. For the same reason as listed above.
- Cleaning the bathrooms in any of the theme parks. Just by sheer volume of use, the bathrooms don't smell too good and I noticed that people are pigs and don't clean up after themselves. The state of grossness in which people would leave the bathrooms after they had used them was disgusting. The CMs shouldn't have to deal with that.
- Working in that teeny tiny little funnel cake stand in the American Adventure. I could smell the grease 20 feet from the stand, I couldn't imagine working in there all day long.

Does anyone know how long the CMs in the jobs above (other than then bathroom cleaners) have to work in those jobs during the day? Is it 8 hours straight with occasional breaks?

Shifts are normally 8 hours, but it is not uncommon to have your shift extended. There is a system that tells you when you can take your break. It doesn't always make sense. For instance, a CM could go six hours without a break and then get two in the last two hours of their shift. It's very strange.

Having worked as a CM, I can tell you that it is much more fun to be a guest!!! :goodvibes
