In the Spirit of the Season

How is the hand...glad so see an update. Zoe is just so dang cute in that dress! Now I am wishing that I did not cancel Akerhaus, they boys so needed one more princess experience! :rotfl: Love the birthday cake for breakfast...I think breakfast ones are the best...did you get to eat it or did the kids steal it?

I ate the gummies off the plate. (I LOVE gummie bears... my favorite candy of all time... gummie bears coated in chocolate - white or dark..doesnt matter) The cupcake itself :scratchin: I can't remember. I know that there were a couple that did not get eaten. Anything that got brought back to the room... never was ate. However, I do not think I brought this one back... so I guess this one must have. However... my kids are not usually huge pastry fans (well.. Kira is...but the others are not) So I am sure it was me who ate it and not Zoe or Alex.

hand... well, if I turn it funny or try to grip something I get a sharp pain...but I can type with only a dull ache :thumbsup2 The scraps are almost healed and the bruising is aaaaaaaalmost gone. It has shrunk to just over the break and the first joint on each of my last two fingers.

How Much Can Be Done When Crowds Are High?

This was our last day in any park, but it was our day... our last day to do WS in Epcot. I had yet to have us really do WS so I had many plans. We were going to eat around the world. We were going to PAP. We were going to do KP missions. We were going to see the story tellers. It was going to be a wonderful day. Given that they guys actually came with Zoe and I early in the day, what could go wrong?

The answer to the question what could go wrong? Crowds... very high crowds.

The answer to how much can be done when crowds are high? Read on...

Right after breakfast, Alex needed a break from all the forced Disney magic and just wanted to do something more "teen" appealing. So we let him rush over to TT before the rest of us were even out of the restaurant.

Once we were out of the restaurant, we found WS was yet to open so we wandered around a bit and took a couple pictures.
IMG_1058.jpg

Zoe was trying to tie her shoes, but she looked so cute sitting there all in pink with converse on.
We also went into the Viking exhibit. I have gone in there in the past to escape the heat and some crowds, but never really read everything. It is actually a bit interesting. Strange to think how much people accomplished so early in life. Now, "kids" are still living at home often when these men were conquering kingdoms and becoming kings. Makes me think that we don't expect as much from our kids and that they truly are capable of so much more.

Once Alex was back with us, we went to TT to grab some fast passes.

Next it was time to do a bit of shopping. Zoe did not want to wear the princess dress all day(it was a bit small) so we looked for a different outfit for her. Remember, this is the end of the trip and I REFUSED to do laundry on the trip. Add in that the weather had been more warm than cold and she was out of outfits to wear that were comfortable in the warm weather.

This is what she came up with.
IMG_1059.jpg

Remember this pose...it seemed to be the pose of the day...so you might see it again in another picture or two. :rotfl:

By now, WS was just about to open. Alex though, did not want to go around shopping and eating. Since we didn't have park hoppers and he had already done the ride he wanted to in this park... he was done. So we allowed him to go back to WL while we stayed.

We started our tour in Canada.
IMG_1061.jpg

So far so good. We saw the story teller and got a sample of food.
IMG_1066.jpg

IMG_1062.jpg

The story teller was very interesting. Similar to our own traditions, yet just a bit different. And I always knew my birthday was on boxing day, but...to find out what that really was about was neat.

The maple sugar was sweet and we each took a little nibble, but the rest came home to put into coffee.

Next up was Great Britain where we picked up our Kimunicator. We did the mission there, but crowds were definitely starting to pick up and a couple of the stations were a bit hard to do without someone else doing it right there too. We also picked up our snack of Turkish Delight. YUM! I do so love that stuff. I guess it has to do with the gummy texture inside of chocolate. :cloud9: If you have never tried this, you MUST!
IMG_1067.jpg

With the mission in GB complete it was time to move on and figure out our next mission. We all were a bit confused on how to get that. Here is Steve and Zoe trying to figure it out.
IMG_1068.jpg

Next up was France
IMG_1072.jpg

We planned to share a cs instead of just get a snack. By now, it was about lunch time and the line at the cs in France was long. I had Steve go through and I took Zoe inside to get a table.

These are such good sandwiches. They are simple and after a week or more of rich foods, this totally hit the spot.
IMG_1069.jpg

For dessert, a napoleon which was also just perfect.(even if the picture is not)
IMG_1070.jpg

After our first lunch I got myself a GM slushie and we watched the story teller.
IMG_1071.jpg

IMG_1075.jpg

The slushie... strong and oh so yummy.

The story teller... even better than in Canada. I loved his story of the little girl.

By now, the Kimunicator had shut off so we did not do a mission in France. We held on to it though since we could have it reset.

Next was Morocco. Even though we had just had our "first lunch" it was time to get another cs meal to share. We got the Shwarma platter and of course, some baklava.

IMG_1077.jpg

Steve was equally impressed by this meal. So I considered it another win of the day.

With only a little bit of shopping done, we didn't stay long. The crowds were getting harder and harder to navigate. If there was a story teller there, we did not see him/her.

Next was onto Japan.
IMG_1078.jpg

Here is where things really started to become difficult. The PAP I had wanted to do? I even had special carriage necklaces for Zoe and I... we were barely able to get into the shop it was so packed and the area around the PAP station was shoulder to shoulder. So we skipped it.

We also missed any story teller that was there and had yet to do another KP mission.

We did however get our little tasting of something.
IMG_1079.jpg

Yes, I do believe it was as big as Zoe's head.

Looking at the time, I knew we were going to have to hustle. So we quickly went to Italy just to get bit of candy.
IMG_1080.jpg

OMG! The one in the white wrapper was amazing. It was a pistachio nugget covered in white chocolate.

Since we either needed to give up our Kimunicator or do another mission, when we came to Germany it was time to decide. We decided to do one more mission. Walking just around Germany was hard. Each step was like a slow shuffle. I realized at this point that this would be our last country we could venture through since we had to leave the park for our ADR at Boatwrights. Once the mission was over, we tried to make our way out of WS. We did not get a snack. No carmel corn for me. :sad2:

Even though it took FOREVER to fight the crowds to get out of WS, we still had a little tinny bit of time before our drop dead - needing to leave the park - time. So with fast passes in hand we made our way to TT.

Next Chapter: How late is late?

 holy cow!!! yes!!! 13 cents is way better:thumbsup2

Those are the bags I came home with from walmart. Full of Glowsticks. for less than 8$!!!!

And I love Zoe's pink converse still! Especially with the princess dresses!

The way y'all ate around the WS is exactly how I envision our ladies trip going. Getting like 2 CS in each country to split between all of us, so we can all split snacks as well to try EVERYTHING and not completely feel like piggies!

That is an awesome haul!!!

eating around the world is my favorite thing to do.. Some times just a nibble (like the candy) is all it takes to make me happy. Now... going during F&W... I am sure that will make it that much more exciting!

Finally caught up! I get so far behind when i go on vacation! I really need to get back to Disney at Christmas time and finish Holidays around the world! We ran out of time last time we were there. Zoe's outfit you bought is ver cute! Why don't they make those in adult sizes?

Congrats on getting your family up early with no problem.
Zoe looked so cute in her dress. And, she rocked it with the pink converse shoes!

Hi Ann! Been reading and catching up on your TR...and am really excited you booked your next trip because...we booked ours too! We get there on Sept 27th for the tail end of free dining and the beginning of F&W. I am super excited. We should definitely have a dismeet. Unfortunately we're not staying at POFQ because there is nothing available! In fact, all the mods were sold out already, except for a few rooms at CBR. I guess thats what happens when I procrastinate....but we've booked a Finding Nemo Suite at AoA instead and am pretty excited about experiencing a a brand new resort. Whopeee! Sooo excited!

I was surprised by how easy it is to run out of time...even when you are there as long as we were. I am not sure that we will go back during the holidays though... it was sooo crowded.
Congrats on getting your family up early with no problem.

Everyone getting up for breakfast was definitely a major accomplishment.

I think the pink cons and the princes dress were cute together.

:woohoo: We will have to plan a dismeet for sure!!! I wish you could have found an opening at POFQ... but how cool will it be to stay at the suite at AoA!!!! Do you plan to do a PTR?

Just wanted to share...

I got a new phone. Now, I know... I know... people get new phones all the time. However, I always only get a phone when I am due for an upgrade and I only get the free phone that has always been pretty basic. This time, I snagged the next upgrade from one of my kids and got an iphone 4s. :woohoo: Now I just need to get a fancy disney case and I will be in :cloud9:

The other thing I wanted to share... while I have been managing to go out for a run/walk twice a week, it has always been about 2 miles (just maybe a 10 to a quarter a mile more than and even 2) Well, sunday I made it past the 4 mile mark :yay: (only by a hair.. but still:woohoo:) Now if only weather would be nice enough... I need to at least do the 2 miles a couple times a week...if not more.

I think I might actually be caught up now and I'm so sad your trip is almost over. I enjoyed your most recent updates but I just read so much I can't even think of what to say.

Oh yeah -

The video of River Country was pretty cool. I'm sorry I never got a chance to go there because it looked fun. I wonder why it really did close? Too much competition or the use of natural water?

Zoe looked lovely in her princess dress and I am so glad you enjoyed Askerhaus. I have always wanted to eat there but I guess at this point I am waiting to take a granddaughter (if I ever have one). Every one in my family is a boy.

I would really like to try a very late EMH but I'm not sure if I can stay awake that long.

I know it was crowded on 12/19 when we left, so I can only imagine how crowded it was a few days later.

I haven't been in most of the Epcot stores in ages. I have never seen Turkish delight. Just might have to get some for my guys to try. Makes me think of Edmond and Narnia.

Congrats on the new phone. I LOVE MY IPHONE 4S and I LOVE MY DISNEY CASE JUST AS MUCH (I have the castle with Tinkerbell...thanks to Mary on our girls trip). :)

I hope to do a PTR! PTRs are so much fun. I JUST finished my TR from last March, LOL. But yes, let's plan on the Dismeet for sure! I just started to make ADRs. I'm pretty happy I got Ohana and Le Cellier. I think I snagged the last Ohana dinner ressie durin the days I'm there!

Ive always been the same way about the phones too Ann. Now I honestly don't know what I did before my 3GS. Love the yellow pages and my banking Apps. Oh and google maps that will also link off a place on yellow pages!

Yay about the running! You go lady!

Yes - yeah for your new phone and for hitting the 4 mile mark! That's awesome!

I think the use of natural water was a big issue with river country. I believe the health department closed it. I know here in the town I live there was a pool that was fed by a natural spring that the locals swam in (albeit years ago) and the health department closed it because of fecal contamination. You just can't keep it clean... so many bodies...

I have been known to like late EMHs, but i was pretty tapped... I think as I get older the late nights are becoming fewer and fewer.

As for Akershus.... thank you for the kind words regarding Zoe. She is a princes and we love to go there with her... but ultimately, I think the boys are pretty happy to go.

I haven't been in most of the Epcot stores in ages. I have never seen Turkish delight. Just might have to get some for my guys to try. Makes me think of Edmond and Narnia.
You simply must!!! I loved that stuff.
Yay for your new phone and your run!! :yay::yay:

:goodvibes thank you

Congrats on the new phone. I LOVE MY IPHONE 4S and I LOVE MY DISNEY CASE JUST AS MUCH (I have the castle with Tinkerbell...thanks to Mary on our girls trip). :)

I am really really loving mine too. Although, I did order a "disney" case (two actually) but neither are park authentic... In fact... one is coming from singapore and won't be here for a month and a half. :rotfl:

Very cool on the ADRs. I did not make one for Ohana or Le Cellier... I know Betsy made one for LC though...so maybe we will go with here. And...Ohana... I may just have to be sad and miss this trip. :sad2:

This is one of the first "toys" I have had in a while and really I can see how useful it is. Plus... it is a bit fun. :goodvibes

Yes - yeah for your new phone and for hitting the 4 mile mark! That's awesome!

Thank you...now if I can just get my time to be better...

YAY...a new phone! I love my iPhone 3...Jeff upgraded recently (not on purpose, but that is a whole new story) and he wants me to upgrade to his 4...I think he got the 4s and of course Ab wants my 3...but I am in no mood to add another data plan to my plan right now!

Congrats on the 4 miles...after last week and the eat fest in St. Louis...I need to start running.

I am glad I got the phone I did. I am very impressed... I wasn't so impressed with adding a data plan... but I have heard that verizon may soon go to a family data plan instead of individual...so maybe that will help.

I have only made it out running once in the last 7 days. It was the week at work where I have to do a lot of "heavy lifting" though, so I know I burned some calories doing that....but I need another run.
