In the Spirit of the Season

Oh my goodness I am so far behind on yours! I am hoping that everything is going well with you and Zoe and your family! I have been keeping you guys in our thoughts/prayers!
Okay I am starting on BBB.... I have to agree with her I love Bell too! That would have been really cute for her to be in the Christmas Bell dress and have the statue picture, but I guess that means that you'll have to do something special with her again so she can wear it! Even if at home you dress her up and go out with your 2 girls for a special dinner/lunch! She really is so cute! Very nice gifts from a DISer! I remember you telling me that story about the other Diser! I'm sorry that she didn't recognize you! Sounds like the MVMCP could have taken a wrong turn and turned into a mess but you made it turn out pretty well! Your new hair do looks cute! I like it! And with that picture - it is hard you should have made those duck lips like the teens do and it might have come out better lol! Alex looks like Zach now (in my opinion) I didn't see it with Zach's older pictures, but his younger ones do! Very nice older family photos! Isn't it weird when I think about things that were... when I was in middle school I thought my older sister was so cool because she had a beeper!!! Now I don't think that kids in highschool now what that is!?!? CRT looked nice and I'm glad that you all got wands! I think you all deserved them! I agree that Belle she kinda looks... well... off?!?! It's so weird reading what other people have to think of the weather and what they did with the weather! That apple pie looks really yummy! We did the graveyard side too, but were really early and damien could have played in there forever if I had let him! I am sorry about all of the storms that you guys have had! I hope that everyone is alright and safe! I'm glad that Steve liked the food-- I only found one place that K liked the food! And I'm glad that you got some time alone with Alex! I think that's nice sometimes to just have a good time with your kids! And the family-- I can honeslty say that I would love another child, but always feared those types of situtaions! I have to say that it was really nice meeting with you guys and yeah Damien is going to be a handful as he gets older! But Zoey is really mature and you always say how easy going she is, but she really is and she's nice to everyone! They could have sat for hours at that tank and watched those fish though lol! And you got better photos then K's phone ones! I am so sorry that Zoe is having to deal with all of that! Thank goodness for K working at the ambulance lately because I can't sleep and am all caught up!

You are so sweet for getting all caught up. I really hope you are taking some time to recuperate!

As for the two kids.. yes, I agree... if we had let them they could have spent hours at the tank. I am so glad! Sometimes I have had my kids around other peoples kids and they just didn't hit it off and it was awkward. I didn't feel that way at all this time. Course :scratchin I hadn't stopped to think...maybe it was Damien that was feeling awkward with Zoe and thinking "good grief can I just get away from her" I hope we didn't put you in that position. I know how uncomfortable it can be.

Serious Resort Touring in Wacky Weather

After we made our way through the Kodak lab, we exited near the jumping fountain. I thought I had a picture, but sadly I remember now that my camera batter died at this point and we were relying on Steve’s camera. (need I say more ) He tended to use his phone more to take pictures so I don’t have those pictures. We played around near the fountain a bit and then decided it was time to walk out through the International Gateway.

As we made our way there, the weather was CRAZY. By crazy, I mean the sun would be beaming down and just feet away it would be raining. It was strange to walk into rain. I am not entirely sure how that works. Here, especially in the grey months, it just seems to drizzle everywhere.

We made our way to the Boardwalk Hotel first. I had never been in this area even though I stayed at Yacht Club once. I have to say, I am in love with that area. The shops are so quaint!

After we left the Boardwalk, we headed in the direction of the Beach Club. On our way past Kouzzina, a cm came out onto the walk way to approach us. Apparently, Kat Cora herself was inside signing autographs and no one was in there getting them. I would have supported Steve if he had wanted to go in, but with both Zoe and Alex acting a bit grumpy, I wanted to just move on and get to see the holiday decorations at each resort. Now I am wishing we had stopped.

By time we got to the Beach Club Resort, Zoe was getting pretty tired. I made the mistake of trying to have her search for the hidden mickey’s on the carrousel. It was a bad idea because she got more fussy than I saw her the entire trip. Alex too was just no longer in the mood as he was super thirsty. Steve then started getting a bad head ache and his back was hurting really really bad. (remember he carried miss Zoe back to WL from Ohana) So I found the shop/quick service location in BC and got some advil or alieve for Steve and a drink for Alex. With two of the 3 who were out of sorts now back on track, we moved on.

Yacht Club is so close to BC that we were there in no time. However, we were all (including me) ready to head back to Epcot and so we didn’t stay too long. We took a picture near the Christmas tree and checked out the train that was set up. (no pictures?) and then we made our way out. At first we thought we would take the boat back. Steve was hurting or tired or something so didn’t want to rush to the dock where there was a boat that was loading. Missing that boat we then sat to wait for the next. We waited, and waited and finally decided that we would walk back. I guess the little wait out on the boat dock was all we needed because we had a bit more energy. We did make it back to Epcot before another boat so it was a good decision.

Next Chapter: Food, Food and more Characters

That's kind of funny that the CM's were trying to get people inside Kouzzina to meet Cat Cora. Maybe it wasn't well-advertised? It is a kind of out-of-the-way spot to get to in the middle of the day.

I love the Epcot resort area, the whole atmosphere is so great! Less pleasant when it's super-hot though!

Yep, the Friendship boats are VERY slow. You can usually out-walk them very easily. I think it takes around a half-hour for them to get from Epcot to DHS, stopping at the 3 docks in between.

I am super tired... but just wanted to come on to say... Yesterday, Zoe went in to the doctor to have her tube from surgery removed. It went well and the doctor was super excited saying it is so great that we won't have to go back in for 6 months. :woohoo:

Well, there was a malfunction in the "plumbing" today and we had to go up to the hospital. I am still staying super positive even though I am exhausted. They aaaaalmost admitted her to take her into the OR tonight... but I talked Zoe down off her little ledge (she was pretty panicy and in pain) I got her to (for lack of a better way of putting it) suck it up so they could get things taken care of then and there. Thankfully, she gathered herself and although there was a ton of screaming she held still while another tube was placed.

I could go into more details about the event... but... bottom line we are home and she is ok  She will go back in on 2/9... intent will be to take her into the OR, but we will see if whatever happened happens again. (no one could understand what was going on... and that includes the WORLD RENOWN surgeon )

I hope to get back on tonight and catch up with everyone. :goodvibes

Oh no Poor Zoe!!! Praying for her! And you :hug:

At the end of figment... well, loud..stinky..burst of air. You might want to consider this when bringing Alex on it. It might startle him.

oooohhhhh ok. Is there any way I can shield him from this? :confused3 Maybe I could put his blanket over his face

Off to read your update

Great update! I loved touring the resorts and seeing all of the decorations but that stinks that Alex, Zoe and your DH were feeling out of sorts after a while. You did manage to get some really cute pictures of Alex and Zoe together though. Love the one at Boardwalk :goodvibes

Thank you! I am, the house is tidy- not clean clean because the floors can stand to be mopped and the rugs and dog cage vacuumed, but they can wait! I'm just sitting here so that's nice especially because it's rainy and wet and gross out here today!

No he didn't feel like that, he had wanted to meet up with you guys for more rides but I told him that I wasn't sure which ones Zoe could go on (because I remember she couldn't go on the jerky ones) and that's why he was so persistent about asking for test track, but I kept telling him maybe when we see everyone on Friday! No he wanted to wait for her because you kept telling me to go on Nemo and he wanted to wait for her and you kept texting I don't know how long we will be.... it was nice and it was a nice ride but I think that he liked the aquarium more. The argument I had with him on the ride was that he wanted to sit with her, but I told him that she's sitting with her mom and he wanted to sit with you guys, but I wasn't letting him... that's why we had that confusion on the nemo ride!

Oh K video taped the jumping fountains--- I could have left him there the whole trip and he wouldn't have known that we left! That would have been a different autograph! I am sorry that we didn't see more hotels and such! I wanted to, but whenever we left the parks they just wanted to leave and go back to the hotel we were staying at... The details on those gingerbread things amaze me still! And the trees are so pretty and detailed as well I bet that's a son of a gun to take down though!

Ann, well as you can see I took off my countdown ticker for the time being. I may be able to put it back up sometime in Feb if my dh gets hired by either of the three companies that has expressed some interest in him the past few days so we all have to wait and see. If i can put it on there I will be so excited because I really didn't want to postpone this one also..

I plan to get caught up on your TR later on today because I notice that there are some pictures that i want to look at on your report..

I knew it would be faster to walk. Everyone was so tired of walking though. This was one of if not the only day I made them stay in the parks all day. I just didn't realize that this boat would take that long... I knew long...but

Oh no Poor Zoe!!! Praying for her! And you :hug:

:scratchin well, it happens suddenly and is over before you know it. I would think that everything happening leading up to it would have him engaged so much that he wouldn't allow a blanket. I wonder if what happens next would cheer him up so quickly that the sudden burst of air and loud noise would not keep him upset for long?

Great update! I loved touring the resorts and seeing all of the decorations but that stinks that Alex, Zoe and your DH were feeling out of sorts after a while. You did manage to get some really cute pictures of Alex and Zoe together though. Love the one at Boardwalk :goodvibes

I love that picture at the Boardwalk too. It was kinda a hard one to get. I saw the stairs decorated and since we were going to walk up them I knew I wanted them to pose. Well, as you see from other pics.. Alex doesn't quite understand how to pose with Zoe. I wanted him a step or two down since he is so tall... she coudn't reach the ledge well... This picture took forever to get lined up!

Thank you! I am, the house is tidy- not clean clean because the floors can stand to be mopped and the rugs and dog cage vacuumed, but they can wait! I'm just sitting here so that's nice especially because it's rainy and wet and gross out here today!

That was Steve too... just kept taking pictures (on his phone..that I have no access too:headache:) if those fountains. I think that there was no crowd what so ever up there made him feel more comfortable.

And as for Damien.. he really could have rode with us if you wanted. But... I also understand. Nothing like leaving your son with some unknown people in a dark ride. :rotfl: Maybe had we gone to the aquarium first it would have been a bit less worrisome. I just wish we could have met up more than we did. Those first few days we were there, when the parks werent overly crowded, we were trying to "get into our groove". Then by the time we did the parks were so crowded it was hard to do anything.

I am so sorry. I wish getting employment were an easier task. My ds needs to find a job... but hasn't had much luck. I need to start looking cause my job is starting to be a bit...:headache: but I can't seem to see anything.

Ann, I just LOVE all the pictures you have taken during this trip. I can't wait until I get to go to DW for Christmas time in 2013 for my daughter's graduation trip..

So sorry to read that Zoe had problems again. Poor little girl, she's been through so much lately. I hope all goes well on the 9th.

The resort pics look great! I really like the picture of Alex and Zoe on the stairs. You got a pic at our favorite tree too, the one at the Yacht Club.

No it isn't or wasn't even that is was that I know that Damien can sometimes get a little... what's the word? I can't even think of a word when he's excited and worried and happy all at the same time and I didn't want you to start spinning your head with it! But it was fun, I do wish that we ran into each other more, but next time!

Caught up again, Ann!
Touring the resorts can be fun IF all participants are in the mood! :rotfl2: But you are right, the Boardwalk area is beautiful!
I love all your photos you took!

Finally caught up!

First, I am sorry that things looked so great for Zoe and then to have her have problems awhile later! I hope the weather has improved since last time I posted...what a lot of snow!

I so understand your pity party on the monorail...was there several times myself...big girl panties. I had some meltdowns that I am not too proud of myself!

I love that big brother tested the ride for Zoe...how nice for you and Alex to spend some time together! Boo, Steve for interrupting it!

I FINALLY GET TO SEE THE PICTURE OF ZOE and DAMIEN together...the one with the faces you both described to me! :yay: If we would have added Goo in the mix Epcot may not be still there!

I wish I would have taken the pictures on the stairs at BW...how did I not think of that!

The Christmas decorations are definitely something to see!!

Thank you so much. I am sure the 9th will go just fine. In fact, I wonder if they will just do the clinic visit and not take her into the OR. At least, that is what I am going to hope for. 2012 is gonna be the year I remain positive!!! Only good things can happen then, right? ;)

But it was fun, I do wish that we ran into each other more, but next time!

I could see that he had enthusiasm... but it was so cute! Really, I have older kids now... but one of them was definitely an intense little girl with lots of enthusiasm for everything. We have a video when Alex was only months old. We are about to give him a bath and Kira takes note. The next few minutes on the tape involve Kira saying "I wanna bath, can I take a bath... I wanna take a bath...can I take a bath. a bath a bath...i wanna a bath" I mean... I don't think she took in a breath for the entire thing. Add in that she was pacing back and forth around us... back and forth "I wanna a bath" She was 5 and while at the time I am sure we would have felt like it would have been too intense for anyone else to "deal with" Looking back it is one of my favorite things about her... her enthusiasm. :goodvibes

Caught up again, Ann!
Touring the resorts can be fun IF all participants are in the mood! :rotfl2: But you are right, the Boardwalk area is beautiful!
I love all your photos you took!

Someday, I hope to be able to get a real camera and learn to take real photos..but thank you. :goodvibes

Can you imagine the three kids together :rotfl: That would be pretty exciting for all of us.

As for the pic on the stairs... it is one of my favorites on the trip. I keep having those thoughts too though the.. "how did I miss that or think of that" thoughts. I keep reading other TR and I am sad by just how much I missed in 2 weeks time. :sad2:

Food, Food and more Characters

After we finally arrived back in Epcot, we decided to walk over into WS to get some snacks.

I knew I wanted to head straight for Germany. However, on our way there we ran into one of Zoe’s favorite characters, Marie. So we stopped to get her autograph and some pictures.

P1050545.jpg
P1050543.jpg

THEN we went on to Germany. I had heard wonderful thing about the new Caramel store and really wanted to try it. Since we had 2 more days in Epcot planned, I assumed I would be back to get some caramel corn so for now I just got a caramel roll. The store has the most amazing smell to it. I could have lived in that smell. :cloud9: Zoe got a caramel covered strawberry and Steve got a salted caramel. Alex was in a mood a bit and didn’t get anything. I think he was getting antsy to go on a ride, a real big boy ride. Sorry that there are no pictures. Remember.. my camera battery is dead at this point.

After Germany we were not done snacking and decided to head to Norway. In Norway, we paid out of pocket to get some favorite treats. Again, thinking there would be more days ahead I did not get an order of rice cream (one of my favorites). Instead, we all split a piece of school bread and a sweet pretzel.

Alex was still a bit out of sorts at this point and what came next didn’t help. We went to the outside seating to share our treats at a table. The table had a total of 3 chairs around it. This seems like an easy enough fix, but does anyone know what happens when you move one of those chairs along the pavement?

SCREECH!

This set a lady off at a neighboring table which in turn just sent Alex over the edge. He was so sad and upset with himself for “screwing up”. I so wanted to tell the lady off, but... I had to assume she was just tired and I was trying to get Alex to let it go so I couldn’t not let it go myself if I was expecting him to do so. Needing some time to gather himself, I believe this is when he went on his own to ride Mission Space.

Taking our leisurely time to get to FW, we ran into a new friend for Zoe. Duffy is an interesting addition to the cast of Disney characters. Zoe fell in love with him though. I guess Disney marketing must know what they are doing since she was so excited. I just was underwhelmed, but still took some pictures.:rolleyes:
P1050546.jpg
P1050547.jpg

Look at the line that so quickly formed. There was NO ONE in line when we just stopped casually to meet him and then poof
P1050549.jpg

Alex still was out of sorts when we met back up with him in Innoventions. Since there was little to no line for Sum of All Thrills, we suggested he go in it. He refused. Zoe then became excited to go to the character spot, which Alex had NO interest in. We begged and pleaded with him to try Sum of All Thrills. Finally when I agreed to go on it, he conceded. While we waited in the line that had now grown a bit, Steve took Zoe over for the line at the character spot.

For those who have not gone on this and don't want anything to be spoiled, don't read on
It was no time at all before Alex and I were called into our briefing room. From there, we set free to design our own ride. Bobsled would be the “easiest going”. Roller coaster would be the next intense with a jet being the most extreme. I should have known that Alex wasn’t going to play fair when I had to quickly choose Roller coaster when he attempted to push “jet”. He used the tools at his disposal very quickly and before I knew it our ride was designed and it was time for us to go. As we climbed the steps to our simulator, I was very nervous. I don’t do upside down. We were told we had to put our things in a locker and then just before boarding the cm asked me if I knew this had several loops put into it. I think I about fainted right then and there. The cm looked compassionate at me like “I can get you out of here” but Alex shoved me forward before I had a chance to even mouth the word “help”

Once in, I thought..how bad can this be. I will keep my eyes closed and I wont see anything and so it is a simulator... it won’t be too bad. Yup... that what I thought. I did end up opening my eyes several times, even though Alex swears I didn’t. The screen could really stand some improvement. It is nice that you get a real time shot of your partner in the corner of your screen, but the ride animation leaves much to be desired. The effects themselves though are well, intense. We did go upside down and there were times it did feel like we were going fast.

When I finally got off the ride, I definitely felt like I had been on a ride. There was that adrenalin wooziness. It was fun though and even though I could have killed my evil teen for putting me through it.... I am glad he did.

Go ahead and read now if you were trying to avoid the spoilers

We then caught up to Steve and Zoe who, seem to have made no progress in their line. Alex seemed to not be feeling great and wanted to sit it out so he found a place to sit while we waited out the line.

Finally, we got to see Mickey then Pluto then Minnie then Donald and finally Goofy.

It was now time for us to head to Coral Reef for dinner. Zoe had asked that she be able to get one thing and one thing only on this trip to eat and that is the lobster bisque at Coral Reef. So rather than just get a bowl or cup of it as her entree, the cm suggested she get the appetizer for two that had two small cups of it on the plate some crab cakes and some shrimp.
P1050566.jpg

P1050572.jpg

For dessert she had the cheesecake napoleon.
P1050575.jpg

I got the cod with mushroom risotto and truffle oil and also had the cheesecake napoleon. The cod was very very good. Think the mushroom fillet at Le Cellier only with cod instead of steak. It was quite yummy.

Steve got the Mahi Mahi and Baileys and Jack Daniel mousse for his dessert.

Alex got the steak (but at Zoe’s crab cakes also) and then had the chocolate wave for dessert

How do you think we are doing? I think Characters and dinning seems to be going well... but we are kinda behind on the rides/attractions. Question is... do we ever catch up?

Isn't Marie cute? I can really understand why Zoe likes her! And now imagine this - Remy at the French Restaurant and Marie peering in the window! Happend last summer, the whole restaurant was in stitches! :lmao:

I am with you about the line at the Character Meet and Greet moving VERY slowly! Don't know why, but it always does.

You are the BEST mum going on Sum of all Thrills with Alex!!!!!! Wanna know a secret? We have NEVER been. :rotfl2:
We went on a similar simulator at Disney Quest, and even though we designed the most intense coaster, it didn't do much for me .... so we never attempted to do Sum. Maybe we should try it in the summer.

And the way you describe your treats ..... does that mean you missed out on more caramel and the rice cream? :scared1:

I'm not really into the whole Duffy thing either, but I do agree that Disney Marketing does know how to make him appealing to the kids!!

Wow, you are seriously the best for going on Sum of All Thrills!!! THAT, I could never ever EVER do in a billion years! :worship::laughing:

I haven't been around much the past few days but i'm all caught up again now! :goodvibes

love all the pictures and the resort decorations, we never made it to BW or Yacht and any of those so it was really nice to see their decorations.

We looked at doing the ride simulator but there was NO way I was going on one of those and even my son was not really thrilled about it. He kind of wanted to design one but not ride it.... more on that in my TR once I can get back at it and update :)
