I was listening to the Sick Show and Pete says he loves his Tassimo, is this the one I want? Thanks!

My parents have a Tassimo and we have a Keurig so I've seen and used both.

Tassimo did have a faster serve time, but we just got a new Keurig that is faster now too. My parents like the Tassimo because they like the lattes it makes. They come with little packs for the coffee and milk. Keurig doesn't do that. I don't want lattes anyway, so we don't need that. K-cups are easier to find and so more likely to find a good sale on them than the Tassimo discs. Bed Bath and Beyond sells both and you can use that coupon they send out.

Once my mom had a Tassimo disc explode on her and I looked it up and it does happen sometimes. On the other hand, we recently had to take back out Keurig to Costco after about six months because of a known problem that it would make random cup sizes. We replaced it with the newer model so hopefully that was fixed.

Anyway, we prefer the Keurig which you can get at Costco. If there is a problem you can take it back. Plus it comes with lots of different K-cups. They are also sold at Costco, but I have never seen the Tassimo discs at ours.

We asked for a Keurig for Christmas. We got a Krups Dolce Gusto. So far, its ok. Not a big selection of pods like keurig. Its got good revies. However as I have said to DH, as soon as it breaks..or falls off the counter we are off to costco for a Keruig. My Mom bought me the Krups one and she meant well. DH didnt realize that there were more than one type and before I could say to him christmas morning, leave it to the side we will need to exchange, he had it up and running in the kitchen:confused3 But Its another choice.

We have a Keurig and I think it's the best thing in the world.

We got ours just after last Christmas (so...about a year ago) and on December 8th of this year, it stopped working. It just stopped. Worked on Monday and didnt on Tuesday.

I called Keurig and asked for some help. A wonderful Customer Service rep walked me through some trouble shooting exercises and decided that yup.....our machine was broken.

Thinking we were out of luck and that we had to buy a new $200 coffeee maker....the CS rep said...."we'll overnight you a new one and pick a box of coffee on us."

That was it. No questions asked. They sent us a brand new Keurig and a box of coffee. No charge.

I think that's excellent customer service and they have a happy, satisfied customer who has told everyone he knows about it.

For some odd reason, my guy does not want a coffee maker at home.
He gets his "single serve" cups of coffee at Dunkin Donuts. He likes that one of the sizes is named after him, "The Great One". :rotfl:

That's totally awesome. Go Team Keurig! :cheer2:

WOW! That is awesome! :thumbsup2

Another happy Keurig owner here. You might want to check out this thread for some good info on it.

We have a Keurig as well and love it :goodvibes. They have some great coffees (even Dunkin' Donuts ones!) and some really great teas as well (Mango .. oh my!)
And Keurig.com has some good deals if you join their club. Good discounts, free trial sizes with purchases and other perks. They even honor the free shipping to us in Alaska! That is truly amazing. :)

I absolutely love my Nespresso machine, but I only use it for espresso, lattes and cappuccinos. I personally find Tassimo, Senseo, Keurig etc... lacking in strength and flavor, although I did purchase the Keurig for my parents and they love it. If you like the specialty coffee drinks, I would encourge you to pop into a Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table and give the Nespresso a try!

I've been wondering this about the machines that use the pods. I drink a rich dark roast and like to make it my own strength, some days stronger than others, can adjust like this with the pod makers?

Wow !

That's impressive service, indeed. Overnight, no less...

Glad to know they stand by their product.

Yes, it has pre-set buttons for a single or double shot or you can customize it to your personal taste. For example, I use the single shot button to make lattes but my DH likes to add more water to his (essentially making a cafe americano). I should add that you need the aeroccino (can be purchased as a bundle pack with some of the machines) to make lattes or cappuccinos. Honestly, everyone that has tried one of my specialty coffees has wanted to run right out and get their own machine... Let's just say that Starbucks' bottom line has suffered since I discovered this little gem:love:

Thank you all for the good tips and info! I have to say, the customer service story (so hard to come by good customer service these days) is a scale-tipper. A healthy and happy 2011 to all!

I had a Tassimo and really liked the lattes and cappuccinos but it died after about a year. When I called Tassimo they walked me through trouble shooting but nothing worked and I was left with a dead machine. We then went to a Keurig because one of my peeves about the Tassimo was the difficulty of finding the T-Discs. The K-Cups are easy to find (Target, Publix, BB&B, Best Buy, etc.), the Keurig is a lot quieter, it has a programmable on/off time, and I'm happy with it. Of course the flavor that I really like, the Mocha Nut Fudge, is impossible to find in the stores so I still have to order my coffee but there are other flavors that I can pick up in the store in between shipments.

After some considerable checking I just purchased a Tassimo. The Keurig is much more available, both in purchasing the machine and the cups. They also have a wider variety of coffee brands and flavored coffees. I frequently read, however, that the coffee tends to be somewhat weak.

The Tassimo machine is more difficult to find. I got mine from Amazon. The pods are also more difficult to get. However, Amazon has a very good selection as does Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Target also seems to carry a small selection. The number of coffee brands is less than Keurig, although at least for now Tassimo (owned by Kraft) has an exclusive deal with Starbucks. (Starbucks, however, is reported to be trying to get out of the deal.) The Tassimo uses a bar code system to automatically adjust the amount and temperature of the water - something I do not think the Keurig does. The biggest selling point for me was that unlike the Keurig the Tassimo makes lattes and cappuccinos -- using real ultra-pasturized milk in the little pods. They are surprisingly good for being so quick and easy to make.

Another happy Keurig owner here :thumbsup2 Our first machine lasted 2 years. We just replaced it in December with a newer model. I love the new one, it has 5 different size settings and you can adjust the temp. My husband uses Kcups but I use the My Kcup and put Dunkin Donuts coffee in it. I don't like how strong most of the Kcups are and the DD is just perfect for my tastes.

Only weak if you use weak coffee. We buy dark coffee extra bold k-cups and are very happy with it. We can't stand weak coffee. There is one called Dark Magic that is especially good. We have found that flavored coffees tend to be weak and taste like tabacco. So we avoid those. I do add cinnamon in my cup though.
