In talking with a DVC rep (don't shoot the messenger) re: AKV

DVC is in the middle of some pretty aggressive expansion plans...those incentives aren't going anywhere because they have to keep money flowing in instead of out. So they're going to do anything it takes to make buying directly from them more attractive than (or at least equal to) the resale market. If anything, they might just have to get more creative with the type of incentive that is offered. I mean honestly, there's a lot of people out there right now that can't even find a way to keep their homes...let alone an indulgence like a vacation membership.

I'm curious, does anyone know...are the people at the kiosks all guides, or are they kind of a "junior guide" (so to speak) whose job is just to get people to stop and schedule a tour? I ask because some of them (not all) seem to be absolutely clueless about even general DVC information. Kind of like a car lot where the guy outside chats you up, but the guy inside is the one that browbeats you into the sale (LOL).

I think they are called sales associates, not guides.

I agree that sold out is a relative term. And DVC is well aware of the old sales adage that the "fear of loss is greater than the desire for gain."

But I just added on 50 more AKV points yesterday! The $8 off was an incentive, and looking at our vacation plans over the next few years, I knew 50 more points would be needed. We couldn't get any Jambo points in our UY (June) so we went with Kidani '08 points. So it does seem that AKV is selling well.
