Sorry, the rest of my day totally got away from me!
Thanks.
I think by the time I met you, you were already a runner.
Heat is definitely a speed killer. That is honestly why I have moved my speed work inside. Treadmill sucks but I am just not down with getting up at 5, and even then it's still honestly too hot to get real speed work in. Our lows here are usually in the mid-70s.
I am amazed every single time too. Maybe it's because I never thought I could?
There is no way we could sleep without AC. Even with AC, no lights, and blackout curtains, the upstairs is in the mid to upper 70s during the day.
Funny about the hating running... I am starting to like it.
Thanks!!! D and I already have some of it cut off at the pass. We have offered to bring and cook dinner, since his mom will be recuperating. That way we at least have control over what we are eating!
I totally forgot my sneakers for the gym today, so did 30 min on the recumbent bike in socks before yoga. Oops.
Also, I discovered Kashi Original cereal today. OMG, like someone dumped honey smacks into my fiber cereal!! Also, it's only 10 more cals in a 1/2 cup, and has almost all of the fiber (5g) and twice the protein (6.5g), and is YUMMY.
Okay, food for today:
B: Coffee
L: Turkey wrap (110), salad (50)
S: Cottage cheese (90), strawberries (10), fiber cereal (30), mixed together
S: 1/2 cup Kashi (70), almond milk (10)
D: Grilled Lamb chops (400), mashed cauliflower (100), broccoli (30)
S: Two bud 55s (110)
Total, 1010. 4/7 days tracking and under 1200
Exercise, 30 min on recumbent bike and 1 hr yoga. 2/2 days yoga/pilates, 2/2 days xtraining
Water, 80 oz 4/7 days water
I SO SO SO get this, Kat. And you aren't over the top at all. Not sure if you all remember, but I do--the first time I ran 2 miles without stopping. TWO! I was over the freaking moon. You would have thought I just won Boston or something! And every single milestone has been like that for me.
I know I have said this before, but it's worth repeating--I never take any run for granted. Whether I am doing 3 or 13. Every single one is a victory for me. And even though my shortest runs right now are 4 miles, I still marvel at it every time. Like, WOW, I just ran FOUR MILES!! Even though I have done (and will do) far longer runs, I still get amazed at even every short one.
So you should totally celebrate ALL of it, Kat!
I used to get really down on myself if I had a real stonker of a run. But now I know that that is just part of running. It happens. And sure, it's frustrating, but at least I don't get depressed about it anymore.
My goal for the summer was supposed to be speed. I know I can do the distance. I have proved that several times over now. And I never have trouble with a long run. Just shift it into low gear and go.
But my speed is so erratic. From 9 minute miles to 12 minute miles and everywhere in between. I would love, love, love to do a 9:30 5K. But this heat is sure killing the speed thing for me. *sigh* So I am getting annoyed at not making any progress in my running right now. I am getting 4-5 runs in each week, so I am putting the miles in, but not really going anywhere if that makes sense.
Thanks.

I know! Yikes. In this heat, I'd have to file for divorce!I'm not typically a fan of full-time a/c but I *do* value my sleep. If momma's not happy, ain't no one happy
I still hate running. Very much so. I do it, but I don't like it.

Kat - no apologies for celebrating successes just as there are no apologies for venting about setbacks, mis-steps, etc. We want to hear it all so we can support you through it all. Holler if you need anything this weekend. I am good at talking folks off the ledge. I just suck at doing it for myself.![]()
