In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

Heat here is in.sane. It was 104* (air temp) at one point here today. The thermometer in the truck said 113* in the driveway. My lawn looks (and feels!) like shredded wheat. bleh.[/COLOR]

Please update me. Please for the love of GOD - please tell me that - that MAN :lmao:;) - that man you call your husband :rotfl:;) - has not decided that he wants another summer where he is - hmmm - shall we say anti A/C. PLEASE NANCY!!!!:rolleyes1

Toronto used so much AC yesterday that they had a blackout.

I would love to live in Europe but I love me some AC in this!!

.

Totally unrelated note, but today I accomplished two of my goals before the Aug 1 half. 5K under 35 min (34:23) and an 11 min mile (the 3rd one). My 3 mile time was 33:19. All were done in 3/1 intervals.

Fantastic Kat! I'm so incredibly proud of you. (It is my hope that that doesn't sound even a tad condescending. ;):goodvibes)

Any way. YES Big Bday plans. having about 20 kids to the Jump N Fun play place. With pizza, pink cake, and goodie bags. (this is my first time doing goodie bags. I hope the little monsters like them. Bubbles, MMs, Pop Up Sucker thing, Balloon, Crazy Straw and Fruit Snack.

I don't know how I missed this! I'm so off. Need sleep.

I can't wait to hear all about it Jo. :cool2:

And sadly, I know exactly who you are talking about (Blackberry inventor). He has also desperately been trying to buy an NHL team over the last few years.

And failing, eh?

I should have bought me some RIM stock. Can you imagine? I keep waiting for Ikea to one day go public. I need some play money. :surfweb: Speaking of which - I ate there for $1.99 today. I love me my Ikea.

:beach:Another perfect day in Paradise here.

Not.

No surprise to the rest of you east coast folks, but the heat wave continues. At least right now it's cloudy so the sun isn't quite as brutal as it has been the past few mornings. I'm getting out and getting some gardening done while it's still tolerable out there.

In other news, on a positive note- my weight has stayed stable this week :thumbsup2 I'm calling that a win after the weekend of indulgance that I had

I think the thing about the race that made it harder then it needed to be was the lack of cups for water and also us middle of the pack people missed the water that was driven to the last few stops when they ran out.

That's just incredibly poor planning! :sad2: Was this the first time they ever held this event and they just didn't know what to expect or did they just completely fail at water?!?!?!

Nancy- Do you have AC in your house? Because then you can look at the bright side... no AC in the house is worse.

I do have a/c in the house. Thank God. And Lisa, it has been on since Sunday and will stay on until this heat wave finally breaks sometime early next week.

Paula - great on the weight loss and :lmao: on the lack of jeans. I laughed and laughed because I'm so vain and uptight and crazy that there would no way I would wear jeans on a scale even in the middlle of winter. EVER. Or if I did I would play a heavy clothes/lighter clothes game. :lmao: Yes, I'm aware. Cuckoo. Makes no sense. I AM aware. :rotfl:

umm. Yeah. I get that. That's me too. It's all head games

I have no idea when or why I became your mother. :lmao::rotfl::love:

:rotfl: You are right though about the sleep effecting weight loss. And speaking of mothering- take care of that knee missy! :goodvibes

I love me my Ikea.

Becca wants to make another road trip. This time I'm bringing bread crumbs and a GPS. Hopefully I won't get lost IN the store again! :rotfl2:

Morning All.

Meg, no AC in your house OMG, hope the heat wave is over soon.

Nancy, our AC was turned on in MAY!. We get to turn it off for a few days here and there. But it will stay on til Mid Sept, then we turn on the heat.

It's 90 here today. Its should get better by the weekend.

Lisa, 16 days thats crazy, have you called the doc? are you on the pill? that is one major reason I don't want to get off the pill. Was thinking of getting the IUD thing, my neighbor said she does not her period.

E, Alexa is in tball, soccer, gymnastics, but I thought this was a one day deal and like I said, she just wanted a new dress and to get to be in the parade.
Lesson Learned.

Kelly, 2lbs is great, that is 2 more than me. Please Please send pics of the dress.

EE, how are you doing, keeping cool I hope.

Paula, 14 miles WOW girl :worship: I did a spin class once when I was in great shape and I could not do it for 10 mins.

Kat,
I love your food and workout log, it is helping me to change of few things,
I now take FF pudding 100 cal to work for my chocolate fix.

Ronda, I hope all is well with you.

So our free trip.... We are now on to going to West Palm Beach, FL. My stepmother lives there (she is my fathers 2nd wife, divorced 23 years ago)
she is more like and ex-stepmother. Anyway, does anyone know what we can do with the kids there?? See the ocean, other than that I need some tips!

Ugg is it Friday yet!

just thought I would share....

Breakfast, 90 cal fiber one bar, baggie of BBQ chips and a hand full of trail mix.
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Morning! 4 mile hill run, done. Up and out first thing this morning--no other way in this heat. Then, straight in the lake for a short swim.

Lots to say, but we are heading out on the boat shortly.

The sleep thing. *sigh* I KNOW. And really, it isn't even the insomnia for the most part. I mean, it's more that my body has gotten used to only 5-6 hours per night, so even when I am NOT having a bout of insomnia, I just plum wake up after 6 hours, tops. Not sure how to extend that?

Have a great day, all! :goodvibes

So it was 104 degrees when I got to my car at 4 today. Yes, I went to the gym for the AC. We're doing work on our house and so my AC unit can't go in the window. I was tempted to sleep in a sports bra tonight. I was not prepared for this!

I live in the LAND of A/C. Everything has central air. Considering we have had one day under 90 degrees since May...

103 here today, whee! Sadly, it feels cooler than normal since it is just heat and not as much humidity.

Fantastic Kat! I'm so incredibly proud of you. (It is my hope that that doesn't sound even a tad condescending. ;):goodvibes)

It doesn't sound condescending at all. :goodvibes I was so excited by it, it makes me happy.

I know it's crazy, but getting to the point of succeeding at this running thing has improved my outlook a lot, lately. Sorry if I am over the top about it sometimes.

Jo, I recommend replacing the 100 ff pudding cups with the 60 calorie sugar free jello cups. I think they are just as good... boston creme pie and milk chocoate bliss (with added fiber) are my favs.

Trip sounds like fun!

E, I agree on the sleep.

Nancy, still no A/C in the car?

Kelly, YAAAAAY on the 2 lbs!! :cheer2:

Lisa, LOVE when you are back with us. Sorry about the knee, hope it feels better soon. Love me some IKEA... closest to us is 2 hrs away though.

I get to spend this weekend with the in-laws... MIL is having an outpatient procedure on Friday so we are going down there on Saturday (*after* my 12 miles). I am just hoping it doesn't derail the healthy eating too much. We are honestly usually just so depressed after going there that it turns into emotional eating/drinking.

Nancy - Thank God. :goodvibes I jsut smilied and sighed when I was really hot last night - all of a sudden I thought "oh no!" "Nancy!" NANCY!! - I remember that summer where he wanted to not to use the a/c. Thank God. :rotfl:

Erika - I don't think the short amount of hours sleeping is an issue at all. That is probably just your natural body rhythm. (You know I could insert so many funnies right here. :goodvibes) I only see the insomnia as an issue. I thought the insomnia was an ongoing regular issue for you.

I have to catch up later.......

I was so excited by it, it makes me happy.

.

You are not over the top and I shall be rude and speak for the masses - I'm sure we all love hearing all about it. It's very inspiring. And interesting.

Thanks for your kind words Kat.

Kat, you have rocked the healthy eating for months now.
I would not worry about the weekend. and if you do have a few extra calories. Ummm Hello you are running 12 miles on Saturday OMG!!!!

E, 4 miles in your heat. You go girl.

I have done no workout at all. Last one was Sunday on the Elliptica..

I was so excited by it, it makes me happy.

I know it's crazy, but getting to the point of succeeding at this running thing has improved my outlook a lot, lately. Sorry if I am over the top about it sometimes.

I SO SO SO get this, Kat. And you aren't over the top at all. Not sure if you all remember, but I do--the first time I ran 2 miles without stopping. TWO! I was over the freaking moon. You would have thought I just won Boston or something! :rotfl2: And every single milestone has been like that for me.

I know I have said this before, but it's worth repeating--I never take any run for granted. Whether I am doing 3 or 13. Every single one is a victory for me. And even though my shortest runs right now are 4 miles, I still marvel at it every time. Like, WOW, I just ran FOUR MILES!! Even though I have done (and will do) far longer runs, I still get amazed at even every short one.

So you should totally celebrate ALL of it, Kat!

I used to get really down on myself if I had a real stonker of a run. But now I know that that is just part of running. It happens. And sure, it's frustrating, but at least I don't get depressed about it anymore.

My goal for the summer was supposed to be speed. I know I can do the distance. I have proved that several times over now. And I never have trouble with a long run. Just shift it into low gear and go.

But my speed is so erratic. From 9 minute miles to 12 minute miles and everywhere in between. I would love, love, love to do a 9:30 5K. But this heat is sure killing the speed thing for me. *sigh* So I am getting annoyed at not making any progress in my running right now. I am getting 4-5 runs in each week, so I am putting the miles in, but not really going anywhere if that makes sense.

:beach:

In other news, on a positive note- my weight has stayed stable this week :thumbsup2 I'm calling that a win after the weekend of indulgance that I had[/B]

]

Yeah! :thumbsup2

I weighed in early and I'm up 1.2. I'm taking that hard. I know - stupid thought. Once again, I'm aware. I'm trying to be rational but it's hard.
I'm just down right now - that's all.

Morning All.

Yeah on the trip Jo. Nice.

Jo, it's probably just perimenopause. I'm not overly concerned - right now. Drained and frustrated but not concerned. If it continues much longer I'll go in. But thanks.

Nancy - Thank God. :goodvibes I jsut smilied and sighed when I was really hot last night - all of a sudden I thought "oh no!" "Nancy!" NANCY!! - I remember that summer where he wanted to not to use the a/c. Thank God. :rotfl:

I know! Yikes. In this heat, I'd have to file for divorce! I'm not typically a fan of full-time a/c but I *do* value my sleep. If momma's not happy, ain't no one happy :rotfl2:

I am getting 4-5 runs in each week, so I am putting the miles in, but not really going anywhere if that makes sense.

I still hate running. Very much so. I do it, but I don't like it.

I weighed in early and I'm up 1.2.

so ignore it and weigh in tomorrow - Thursday. Totally legal, since that's the day you asked me to check in on you!:goodvibes

No workout for me today. I opted to get my gardening done early this morning instead. By 10am I was completely drenched with sweat just from being outside. <ick> This afternoon I painted my exterior doors. They were red, now they are dark blue. I can't wait to see what they look like from the road!

Ugh I'm slinking on to say I did really well with eating up till dinner... then I had a tuna club with some fries. I now literally feel sick. I need something to get me back on track. I feel like I've lost motivation. I feel so gross tonight.

E- Programed your number into my phone. I'll text you so you have my number as well. Lets hope for some good weather on Sunday.

Ok time for me to go try to find my missing motivation. (Like Austin Powers searching for his missing mojo.)

Kat - no apologies for celebrating successes just as there are no apologies for venting about setbacks, mis-steps, etc. We want to hear it all so we can support you through it all. Holler if you need anything this weekend. I am good at talking folks off the ledge. I just suck at doing it for myself. :rotfl:

so ignore it and weigh in tomorrow - Thursday. Totally legal, since that's the day you asked me to check in on you!:goodvibes!

Lisa - I am with Nancy on this one. It is amazing what 12 hours can do. As for me and my jeans, I usually go to JC from work, I wear jeans to work every day (it is my uniform at this point) so it is what it is at this point. It doesn't matter what you wear to weigh in as long as you are consistant right?

Jo - the trip sounds fun. I have never been so I have no idea what would be good for the kids.

Kelly - whoo hoo on the two pound loss! Can't wait to see pics from the wedding.

Ronda - where are you? Everything all right?

Meg - oh I wish I could send some AC your way. That is just cruel and unusual punishment.

E - hope your day on the lake was a good one.

Hi to everyone that I may have missed!!!!

Moved a bit of weight around at the gym w Jesse tonight and am feeling pretty good. Now if only I could get all of the items on my to do list done! Oh bother - tomorrow is another day right?
