In Search of My Body vol.9 - I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends

MORNING! It is beautiful here at the lake! We are going to have awesome weather all week, the super hot (for here, at least--hitting 90 today--thank God we are at the lake as there is a constant breeze that really helps).

Put the new boat in the water here yesterday and had a great time. More of the same today. Heading out for a run now. My runs here are ALWAYS hill work. Ugh! I mean serious, serious hills. Just brutal.

KAT and PAULA! Awesome, awesome job with those miles! WOO HOO! Love hearing about long run/ride days!

Drinking--um, yeah. That happened last night. :upsidedow

Happy 4th of July!

:rotfl2: So do you Brits celebrate the day you finally got rid of us?

It's going to be stinkin' hot here. Starting today, temps well into the 90*s and increasingly humid until at least Saturday. New England heat waves. wheeee.

OMG, Kelly! Can't believe that he doesn't know! This is the best British soap opera ever!

Happy Fourth of July! Have a wonderful day.

Hot here too. I'm not a fan. I prefer 72-76. Most Canadians love hot though. I went in the bay fully clothed yesterday. Even sunglasses on under the water. Jean's family is here. All slept over.

Kelly, Grey's. Eeeek. I'll wait until next week.

Happy 4th of July everyone!!

Paula, YAAY on the mileage and feeling better.

Nancy, :rotfl:.

E, glad you are enjoying the Lake House. Have fun on the run!

Kelly, Lisa, Jo, :flower3:.

Back to 90 here, but still better than the 100+ of the week before.

Yesterday was beautiful... mid 80s, sunny, breezy. I spent most of the day on the patio.

Food for yesterday, well,.

Goals for last week - completed!:
2 short runs - done
1 long run - done
2 x training days - 1 ellptical, 1 hockey - done
2 pilates/yoga days - 1 pilates, 1 yoga - done
Track (publicly) and stay under 1200 6/7 days - done
Water at 64oz or over 7/7 days - done

Thanks to everyone for indulging me and letting me post my food/exercise diary here every day. It's really helping!! :goodvibes

Fabulously fun day today. Good people, good food (of which I ate only a very small bit!), beautiful weather and now a nice glass of wine.

Life is good :goodvibes

argh. I'm just about to head out for a bike ride, and Stephen just realized that he told Nate to take my car this morning - with my SUNGLASSES IN IT! <grumble grumble grumble>

Holy smokin' hot! 90* in town. A bit better here at the lake. KAT! How do you do it?!?!?!

90 is a cool day here! 96 today.

Did you do your run anyhow? How did it go?

The only way you get through it is to slow down by 1 min per mile pace min (they say 20-30 secs for every 5 degrees over 70), super hydrate the day before, and electrolyte drinks.

This is the kind of day here, at least, that you really have to get it out of the way super early, or just do it inside. I have been doing almost all of my short "speed" runs inside because I don't want the heat and humidity to make me have to slow down, if that makes sense?

We are back in the upper 90s this week, 99 both Wed and Thurs, 96 today. I had considered doing a 6PM run with some folks from my training group, but scr*w that. Back to the TM. :)

Btw, MEG - I read some race reports on a message board about the 13.1 Boston. Basically, from what they said, if you got through that race intact, you can do just about anything. The comments were that it was super hilly, total lack of water (well, cups for the water), and not very well organized. Several said it was the worst/hardest race they had ever done.

ETA: HOLY CRAP!! I looked at someone's elevation chart for that race, and Meg you are AMAZING! There was an almost 400 ft difference between the lowest and highest elevations, and it was all over the board.

Remember the other day when I was lamenting about all the things that were going wrong around here? Washing machine (part on order), printer (replacement on order)....add a/c in my car to the list :headache:

Nancy, that sucks. Maybe it's the third, since things come in threes, and nothing more will go bad...

Totally unrelated note, but today I accomplished two of my goals before the Aug 1 half. 5K under 35 min (34:23) and an 11 min mile (the 3rd one). My 3 mile time was 33:19. All were done in 3/1 intervals.

Now, to mow the lawn in 95 degree heat. Sigh.

Nancy - sorry to hear about all the tech woes. Hope all this ends soon. It us too much for the Amush to handle.

Kat - whoo hoo on the run and the 11 minute mile! Awesome!

Not much going on here. Went to JC today and am down 3.1 pounds. I'm sure some of that is due to the fact that I was not wearing my normal jeans but I am still doing a happy dance!

It us way too hot and sticky out there for a bike ride tonight and the gym is closed so I am relaxing in the AC and starting to reread the last Harry Potter book. Tomorrow starts a new work week including all the craziness that comes with it. Yeah!

How was everyone's weekend?

Paula, WOO HOO on the 3.1 lbs!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

I mowed the lawn and it was 95. Ick. Only supposed to get hotter this week, though, and it desperately needed it.

I was down 1 this morning. I'll take it. :)

90 is a cool day here! 96 today.

Did you do your run anyhow? How did it go?

YES, I did do my run and it was a hill workout to boot! 4 miles of HILLS in 41 minutes in 80+ degrees. Hell yes, I'll take it! I swear I was only running fast so I could finish it! The one good thing about running in that kind of heat at the lake is that I run home, slip off my socks, shoes, and iPod, and dive right in the lake. Yes, in my running clothes. I am totally drenched with sweat from running in this heat anyway, so it only make sense. And man, does it feel GOOD.

ETA: HOLY CRAP!! I looked at someone's elevation chart for that race, and Meg you are AMAZING! There was an almost 400 ft difference between the lowest and highest elevations, and it was all over the board.

:lmao: Welcome to running in New England. There isn't a Half course anywhere up here that doesn't have killer elevations. WAY TO GO, MEG! And my first Half--OMG, there was the steepest hill I have ever seen, and where was it?!?! Mile freaking 12!!! Thanks a lot! :rotfl2:

Went to JC today and am down 3.1 pounds. I'm sure some of that is due to the fact that I was not wearing my normal jeans but I am still doing a happy dance!

Freaking AWESOME job on the losses, Paula and Kat!
