Zhu Zhu Gate, Chapter 2
Ok, so it seems almost silly to write this all up now since the Zhu Zhus and their accessories are en route!
Um no!
Wednesday morning, 7:30 am I put the kids on the bus and head up to Target. Get there about 10 minutes before it opens. It is totally different than the day before. Instead of just 4 women out front, there is a healthy group standing out theremaybe 15 or so? Hoo boy. This does not bode well. There is no way the store is going to have enough to satisfy everyone who is waiting.
Oh the tension in the air. I can so feell it!!
BUT, knowing what I was getting into this morning, I am prepared. I am wearing running shoes and geargood for sprinting to the back of the store! And I brought my own cloth bag (you know, the kind you get so that you dont have to use the plastic bags every time)
We're charged for plastic bags now in Toronto. so that I dont need to stop for and/or manhandle a cart around the store. I size up the crowd
OMG. Too funny. and quickly figure that no one can get back there as fast as I can!
That's right
There is no competition.
I find my posseGrandma Meredith is there with rape whistle in hand!
How many grandchildren does she have? Hi lar ious! The mean men are not there.
Aaaah. What a shame! I can't wait for the day that they are there too. I can't wait! But again, there are lots of other folks there (I assume because more people had this day off work?), so we arent sure what they are capable of. Grandma Meredith (I only call her this in my head, btw) is also wearing a really heavy, puffy winter coat even though it isnt that cold out. She said she doesnt want to get hurt again! Oh, I am SO hoping the bullies show up!
Sycronicity
One of the other women of our new-found group is right up by the front door. She will be the first in. So we have to get up to her without shoving through the waiting crowd. Then Grandma Meredith has an idea. There is also a door on the side of the entrance way.
Smart. And yesterday, that was the door the employee opened first. Ha! Brilliant! She and I go to that door. We are now guaranteed to be first in the store. And I know that if I am first in, I will be first to Zhu Zhu land. Other people in the crowd see what Meredith and I are up to and start grumbling
those who have been waiting here the longest should be the first ones to get in
And then one of the moms from our group pipes up with Then you can just go back to your car now since several of us have been here since FRIDAY. That shut em up.
Oh boy!
Its time.
It's on. The red-clad Target man is on his way to open the doors. Before he even gets there, he shakes his head
Oh his life is a tad more exciting these days, eh? , telling us that there are no Zhus that day. (And again, the men didnt show! The definitely have someone on the inside!) But the Target man didnt want to get trampled, so he was letting everyone know that there was no reason to come charging into the store.
Back home, empty handed. But we all know how it ends for me! Thanks to Lisa and Lyz!
Still, though, I am thinking I might show up on Monday morning after I drop off the kids. I am so invested in Grandma Meredith now! Jeff is , too. I told all about Zhu Zhu gate at Thanksgiving dinner, once the kids left. I told about you guys and the international effort, and poor Grandma Meredith who was in tearsall of it. And even Jeff is totally invested now! It is SO funny!
It is. And since they are made in China and he goes to Chinese Taipei
aka Taiwan
maybe he'll be Grandma Meredith's hero! I know. I know. Just dreamin'.
