In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Just back from my ride. It was an awesome one! I feel like I've got a brand-new attitude. It's gonna be a good day :goodvibes

Have fun with your niece Erika!

So jealous..... totally green here...

It is beautiful out right now and I am stuck at work. They are calling for thunderstorms right when I am supposed to get out of work...

It's beautiful here as well, and I'm currently up to my eyeballs in paperwork crap that I'm trying to clean up here.

Although I suppose I could take my laptop outside  why the he!! didn't I think of that before???:headache:

Hi everyone!

Kelly - Roddick, really? I know - I know the boy has grown up. :lovestruc I did feel for him. It must suck royally to lose that kind of match. I loved Roddick's line about Federer's wins when he was trying to say to Roddick "I've been there". :lmao: It will be interssting to see Nadal back.

The best line - NOT - one of our nephews (Jean's) says during the match geez man why is Federer with a girl so old? :scared1: Yes, he callled his wife old. My God. Five years ago he told me Mary J Blige was so old now. Youth.

Paula - you little tennis girl - do you play as well? Lakers - Artest - a brute - an absolute brute. Used to be quite the personality but he's kept himself in line lately. We were surprised because we thought they would resign Ariza.

Lisa - I don't play. I like to watch it though. The area even has a World Team Tennis franchise that plays locally. We don't have any national stars on the home team, but we get some big names to play here as visitors. This year Venus Williams and Martina Navratalova are both scheduled to play here. I am hoping to get to one of the matches...

OK - question time for all of your experienced racers...

What do I need to bring with me on Saturday?

I am planning to bring the basics (clothes to change into after the race, towels, gatorade, some snacks, etc), but what am I forgetting?

A good attitude ;)

Do you have any kind of race packet that you need to pick up? You may need an id for that. And if there is a race # that you need to attach to yourself you may want an extra safety pin or two. Typically they are provided, but I like to have extras just in case.

helmet, water/drink of choice, pre-race fuel of choice, extra clothes, sunglasses (if you wear them while you ride), BIKE...

you're going to have a GREAT time with this.:goodvibes

Those were on my list, but the safety pins were not. Good call... Oh and I need to bike too. Man - this race is getting a bit needy don't you think.... :rotfl:

Enjoy the outdoors... just came in from having lunch outside and it is beautiful...

Hi everyone...

First weigh-in today...and I lost 2.6 pounds!

I'm really proud of myself because I was having a really tough time last week. Getting used to tracking my food/points has been difficult, plus I'm going through a really rough time emotionally right now, and the ice cream and chocolate has been calling my name!!!!

Whoo Hoo on the loss..... Great job Cathie!

The chocolate and the ice cream must have been calling a different Cathie!

I weigh in later tonight and I am nervous. I was an eating machine (or at least it felt like it) yesterday... ugh... :confused3

OK – since many of you asked, here is the concert report…

So, months ago, my sister asked if I would be interested in going to see Cheap Trick, Poison and Def Leppard with her, her boss and her boss’ wife. I reluctantly agree because I really on am interested in seeing Def Leppard. The other two bands do really nothing for me, but really how bad can it be? They will only be on for about an hour and they sell beer there so I can drink if it is that bad.

We get there and the crowd is pretty much the same as it was the last time I saw Def Leppard – although now it is a slightly aging group of metal heads and 80’s throw backs. The fashion choices were entertaining (somewhere I must have missed the memo that said every woman must be dressed in some sort of halter top that has such a deep neckline that the girls can literally hit someone in the face if they are not careful – and yes, those girls are supported by the wonderest of wonder bras – how else to they point upwards?).
Cheap Trick started the show, but we missed the intros as we were in the beer garden or should I say the hushed pen of shame. Yes, the folks at SPAC don’t really believe in serving alcohol to the masses at rock concerts (although it is perfectly acceptable to sip wine and champagne when the ballet is in town). So their solution to try and corral the evils of liquor is to put us sinners in a pen way in the back of the lawn area. You get carded going in and the get to sport a fabulous wristband. Once inside this beer garden (really it is temporary chain link fencing, two picnic tables and three port-a-johns) you can then stand in a really long line for your $7 beer. And oh yeah, you can only buy one at a time and you can’t take it out of the ‘garden’. It felt like I was in college all over again. So when we heard music, we left the pen of shame and headed to our seats. Our seats were awesome. Center stage – all of about 50’ from the main stage and about 15’ from the catwalk that projected out. Yes, I could see every wrinkle on their faces.

Cheap Trick sounded amazingly good for being around for the past 39 years. They are a lot of fun to watch and we all bounced along to their hits. They head off stage and about 15 minutes later, Poison hits the stage. The big hair and the makeup is gone, but the guys can still rock. It was very entertaining, but I can understand why they were a bit of a B-list band in the 80’s and 90’s. Brett Michaels was not nearly as arrogant as I thought he would be which truly surprised me. He is actually kind of likeable. We all rocked out to ‘nothin but a good time’ and then it was time for the big boys to take the stage.

Def Leppard came out and reminded me why I love these guys. They know how to rock and know how to put on a show. Huge video monitors, lights everywhere, tremendous stage presence and oh yeah – they can still rock. Plus – how can you not love a band whose lead guitarist is totally pumped and is shirtless for the entire show? Wow was all I could say – he looked that good. They played all of their hits – Photograph, Rock of Ages, Love Bites, Hysteria, Pour Some Sugar on Me… The guitar solos were awesome and the talent that their drummer has still amazes me. With one arm and his two feet, he had the whole crowd going crazy during his solo.

It was a great night and I did not have a voice when I left. Oh and I was up and at the gym at 8:00 the following morning. No rest for the weary here…

I am off to run a few errands before my JC appointment and if the weather gods are nice, a bike ride.

Talk to you all later...

Sounds like you had a great time, Paula!

Eating machine? Perhaps you may have felt like one - but think back. How did this weekend compare to a fun & fabulous food & beer fest you may have had 18 months ago? :confused3 Same? Different? Just kinda curious here.

Enjoy your ride! and good luck at JC tonight

Still outside. Still working on my today's to-do list. My family derailed my forward motion. :headache: Siblings family, not hubby & kids family. Yes, we are back to that 50th anniversary party CRAP. "wait. Wasn't their anniversary LAST month?" you ask. Why yes it was. Still unresolved. But I think we're all on the same page now and she-who-would-not-be-the-organizer is...well, you guessed it, taking control.:sad2: DELEGATE. That's my motto on this one. You all were wishy-washy and blew your chance to be in charge. I'm in charge, but not doin' all the work.

(so there. stomps foot :lmao:)

Paula--Love the concert report! Def Leppard! SQUEE!!! I have seen a few shows at SPAC. Dave Matthews, Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms...I was never there when I was legally old enough to drink though. Those kind of beer rules would drive me NUTS!!! Glad you had a blast!

Aaaah.:lovestruc Thanks Paula. Def Leppard. So takes me back to university. Nice job Paula.

And nice job on the early gym as well.

Did I not tell you - that there are times where it is much simpler to take the reins no matter how frustrated you are.

Why yes I did.

I know, eh.

Well done Cathie. :thumbsup2

Video - Agree with Nancy. Just awful. DVC sent that out? The heck???

Cathie - well done!

Paula - great report! I've seen Poison and DL, but not Cheap Trick. That show was by us on Wed. Would have liked to have seen it, but it just wasn't happening this year.

Emily is better, thank God. She was miserable yesterday, too, but woke up this morning all perky and did NOT. STOP. TALKING. It was like she had to make up for the last two days of just sleeping and moaning.

We had lovely Fun in the Sun camp today, and this week only she goes to a theater camp. She seems to like it. It's for an hour in the morning before swim club camp. They do a performance the last day. And she has homework already. Cute!

Me. I did awesome last week. I was okay on Friday, tracked it all. Saturday, mostly tracked. Sunday? Um, no. But back on today!

I do, indeed, believe you did. ;) Will I *never* learn?

Liz - :thumbsup2 for the tracking. Me? Not tracking. But I most definitely am eating a much *cleaner* diet these days. And drinking more water. So it's a step in the right direction.

7:00. I suppose I should figure out what we're going to have for dinner tonight. :guilty:

Not eating clean, but tracking...I'm within my points. Ugh. I hate losing weight. The process of it.

Dinner - Nick came home. I pointed to the fridge. Leftovers. Eat what's there! :lmao:

Holy LONG post coming!

Hi Nancy, no not new, it has been there awhile...I just haven't been around!! I have the Athletes Run tee.

I am still adjusting things with the new job. Not liking anything about it so far and really sorry I made the change. I am hoping that passes. I miss everyone here but, frankly, when I get home from work, I don't care if I see the computer again and I have no time for surfing at work right now. Hence my absence. That and my foul mood with the disdain of my choice and some other happenings in my life right now. On the up side, I am managing to run or walk about 4 days a week and lift at home for 2. Not completely off track just a little sideways!!

Miss you all!!

LISA! So glad that you posted! Though I am sorry to hear about work. Please keep us up to date and I hope it sorts itself out soon.

I would love a night race.

Just letting you know that I didn't miss this.

E, you have a pickup truck?? :confused3

Well, it's not either of our "daily drivers" but um, this is Maine, so yeah, we have a pick-up. It is a requirement of all residents. :rotfl2:

Mmm, I probably would. These folks had 4 home brews on tap. Craziness!!

We down-sized last year from 6 on tap to 4. And actually, we are thinking about phasing out of it entirely. We have been brewing since 1996 and are pretty burned out. We do only full mash, etc. and it is just a chore now instead of a hobby.

Coming up for air from Wimbledon. Oh how I love thee all week. :lovestruc

WORD! Loved watching Oudin in the earlier rounds.

Sunblock before the race. And how are your carrying your water? Are there water stops along the course? First aid stops? Are you going to have your iPod? Charge it and put your race playlist on! Extra safety pins. Something to keep hair/sweat out of your eyes.

WOW! GREAT job! :cool1:

I KNOW, right?! Very strange.

Emily is better, thank God. She was miserable yesterday, too, but woke up this morning all perky and did NOT. STOP. TALKING. It was like she had to make up for the last two days of just sleeping and moaning.

So glad that she is up and about again! Even if does mean non-stop chatter. Just make an appointment at the nail salon and maybe you'll run into the lady who loves chatting with her! :rotfl2:

Me. I did awesome last week. I was okay on Friday, tracked it all. Saturday, mostly tracked. Sunday? Um, no. But back on today!

WOO HOO!

Ok, I think I am about caught up! Oh! AMY! Gosh, I am getting scared about the Mickey!

So I had Jessica all day which was exhausting. She is going to my other sister tomorrow for 5 days. This kid is a piece of work, I tell ya. And I try not to get frustrated with HER because it really boils down to parenting (or lack thereof) so she can't really be blamed. But all the same, I am glad my other sister is picking up the slack now.

Eating--I had a pretty out of control day. Nothing awful (really, there rarely is) but just too damn much. I could not stop eating today. TOM? Could be.

Spent the whole day at the pool club, which I SO needed. OMG, vitamin D injection! Fabulous.

Tomorrow is the kids' first track meet. I am excited and nervous. Kel and Cam compete in the same age group and honestly, I think Kel might beat her older sister. I am going to beg for them to be in different heets so that neither one will know. It's not like they will be aware of their times, etc.

Hey all - just got home from class and I'm exhausted but i wanted to pop on and see what was up.

Our power was out a majority of the weekend, we kept getting sporadic nasty t-storms. We are now 90% unpacked - i planted FLOWERS this weekend (ok, so our garden is professionally done, but i TOTALLY planted flowers around my mailbox and hung a basket - i'm so domestic) :sad2:

Didn't do much of anything but unpack and try to put the house together, i hate feeling exhausted at the end of a long weekend, but, oh well.

I'm glad to see everyone had a great holiday. We were so wiped by the time fireworks came around that we just sat on the back deck and watched the high ones over the trees from the park.

Didn't eat GREAT this weekend, however today when i got home, i bypassed the leftover pulled pork and cheeseburgers, and instead I have a veggie burger sizzling on the grill as I type.... I like how they get crunchy on the outside.....

OK, getting loopy (and i haven't even been drinking) Have a great night!

Stacey,

I meant to say hi when you were on last time. And I think I forgot. Been thinking about you in your first house house!!!! Exciting times.
