HAPPY 4th of July!

More fireworks tonight for us! Delena did well at the ones last night so we will try again

DH has some kind of cold (and totally whining about it too!) so I will probably head out on my own to the mall later on. I must get to the Disney Store!

My knee feels okay this morning. I was reading in MfM last night that IT band issues are somewhat more common in women. Something to do with the angle of the hip. I am an overpronator, so that doesn't help the issue any. I do have the right shoes, so I will just be careful about running outside.

SIL refused to wear shorts when she was down here. Her legs are not fat and she uses tanning stuff so they are not super white either. Her issue is purple veins. She showed me, and I didn't think they were really bad, but I guess it is all what you are comfortable with.

Lyz - I wear Old Navy shorts. They are LONG. Well, 10 inch inseam bermudas. I'll tell you which ones and how sizing works if you like. You could wear those, I swear.

Party was a success! Ate a lot, tracked it all. Wasn't going to, but thought I'd do it for fun. Thankfully, I cleaned A LOT to work off some of it. Washing my floor twice in one day is insane. Totally. Did it anyway.

Emily has a cough today, which is sick for her. So she is pretty wiped and wants to sleep on the couch. I'm giving her this stuff that totally gets that coughy junk out and water. We are very very low key here today! Hopefully going to the beach later to hang out and see fireworks.

Erika - how's home? Does it look different on the weekends?

Hi Nancy, no not new, it has been there awhile...I just haven't been around!! I have the Athletes Run tee.

I am still adjusting things with the new job. Not liking anything about it so far and really sorry I made the change. I am hoping that passes. I miss everyone here but, frankly, when I get home from work, I don't care if I see the computer again and I have no time for surfing at work right now. Hence my absence. That and my foul mood with the disdain of my choice and some other happenings in my life right now. On the up side, I am managing to run or walk about 4 days a week and lift at home for 2. Not completely off track just a little sideways!!

We have finished the wiring, and are about to head to a party. A real, live, out of our house party that I was able to talk D into going to with me... hear the crack??

The wiring project was to put in-ceiling speakers into our loft/bonus room. It actually wasn't too bad, since our attic allows easy access to above that room. Took about 2 hours, including cleaning, and it sounds amazing.

I just can't do that. For one, I'd see myself in a mirror and cringe, and second of all, I'm far to critical of what everyone else is wearing (only in my head of course) to put myself out there. You know what they say about throwing stones and glass houses...

Off to my next party and fireworks, if they aren't cancelled. Lightly raining here. I have pasta salad, bugspray, lawnchairs and glow necklaces. G2G.

Happy 4th of July!! The MIL handoff went great. We napped this afternoon and I'm headed to our favorite local eatery to grab some carry out.

When the thunder started last night I was deep asleep. This morning Sue said I woke up shaking. It was a burst of adreneline to have all of the dogs barking at once.

Our bigger dog Murray hates this holiday. She's convinced the world is ending. Poor girl. Between fireworks and thunder she's a wreck. We'll turn up some music later tonight as the neighborhood punks light up the night.

We, remarkably, have no rain here at all! But! Sick child. Major fever. Cold baths, cold washcloths, Tylenol every four hours like clockwork, chicken soup and clear liquids. We brought her to my mom and dad's and they fussed over her, too. She's so sick I let her eat a DONUT for dinner. Not a glazed yucky one, one of those homemade apple cider ones the local orchard/farm store makes. (Nancy, I picture you making these.) They are like HEAVEN. Someone brought them yesterday. So of course I made my mom and dad eat them. Must not live in my house!

Anyhoo. Sick child. So no outside activities for us, despite the perfect weather.

Right now we are watching Star Wars on Spike!

We had fireworks. In a drizzle. Kinda took away from it. The best part was Maddi singing I'm Proud to be an American along with the radio station fireworks soundtrack. I melted.

Party was fun... It was thrown by someone from my hockey team, and they make their own beer. Which to me is like apple cider homemade donuts, heaven.

I managed to be fairly good on the drinking front, there, as I rather dragged D so I let him have his fun (one of us has to drive, after all). We left around 10 and, well, I have been drinking here ever since.

Yeah, diet, eating right, whatever. I suck.

So sorry Em is feeling bad. Hope it passes soon.

Awww Maddi. So cute! We sang that last night. Greg claimed not to know it, so I got the words on my iPhone and belted it out with Jodi and my MIL. Sober. Hilarious. Nick doesn't like that song - not into the country twang in voices (but likes country twang in music interestingly) and also he's an Eagle Scout. So they played it A LOT back then. I just wish we'd hear the older patriotic songs, too. You know?

The fireworks last night were set to music, and it was awful music. No Stars and Stripes Forever, no America the Beautiful. Lee Greenwood, and NOTHING else Americana. Not even Born in the USA! Jason Mraz, U2, Bruce but "Jersey Girl". Lots of stuff that is fine, but not for our country's birthday!

Were your fireworks to music? Watching the History channel, docu on the Presidents!

Kat, our new beer is based on the retired Pete's Summer Ale. It's sooo yummy. You'd love it!
