In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

Good Morning Everybody! Wake up, you sleepy head, get your butts right out of bed.

Lyz ~ I was laughing as I was typing. Oh my!

Steph ~ loving the Mocha updates!

Two more days of early morning, agh. Can't wait for the weekend.

Hi all--off to Boston for the day. Time to hit IKEA. Wish me luck!

Hi all--off to Boston for the day. Time to hit IKEA. Wish me luck!

Erika - love me an IKEA run. Have fun!!! Bring on the TR....

Steph - thanks for the Mocha update. Too cute.

Amiee - must you be so chipper in the morning? That is just cruel.

Lyz - sending hugs on the emotional night.

LisaV - still jealous about the quick trip to Disney.

Hi to everyone else.... Quiet morning of work for me. I know you are all jealous of the life I lead - bwahahahahaha :rotfl2: NOT!

Have a great day everyone!

13 year old girl. I have one of those. Magical days these are :scared

It all depends on the day -- you either get the sweet girl or the monster.

The teen-age years scare the bejeebers out of me, I tell ya. :scared1: I will have 3 in high school at the same time. :faint:

LisaZ--love that she is a catcher! Please post a pic when you can. Kel is all of 6 (and the size of a 4 year old), so seeing her act like a serious catcher was a riot.

I know! I can't believe she'll be in high school in the fall. And I'll try to take a picture when she plays the tournament in a few weeks.

I totally agree with you on the moderation, as well.

LisaZ - a 13 year old? How did I miss that? Raising kids in general scares me, but teenagers even more so.

It's not so bad yet -- boys are still yucky at this point. Once that changes, it'll be a different story, I'm sure.

LisaV -- have a great trip!!
See you guys later! :cutie:

Good Morning,

We chopped and cut and whacked the heck out of the shrubs and bushes and they look so much better! A truck load in just 2 hours. Hopefully they will still fill in this year but at least they do not look so haggard.

95 degrees was an all time record here yesterday but today is cool and only 70 for a high.

Baylor has a doctor appointment today at 2p.m. and I am hoping his scar tissue is going down that they were concerned about. We then will be turning in his camper paperwork for the burn camp he will be heading to in August. It will be in Colorado so the irony that we will have just gotten back from dropping Treyner off at college in Colorado, to send him on a plane back there is not missed. 2 sons, same state but different corners. I am excited for Baylor to have a great time!

Why is it that weeds grow longer and faster than grass?

Invite list done. 1/2 invites licked and sticked and mailed today. I am feeling good about all these things being done.

I need to ask you all to link on this story and watch it. It is worth the time and the warmth you will feel about humankind will amaze you. Treyner was all teary eyed with me last night watching it and was going to request his journalism class watch it.

Trust me - you do not want to miss out. Please let me know what you think.

Steph - LOOOVE the pics!

Amiee - thanks for the info on the sugar. I am doing home brewed for the most part but that was a great point.

Paula - I used "brewed". Are't ya proud?

All else:love:

Ah Yes I figured that I would show my baby!
I just happens here that on school days I drag everyone out of bed and on weekends they get up with the SUN!

Mocha is so cute!
I took her to do erands with me today.. a first. She was barking at the pharmacist and the bank tellers and then she learned if you sat quiet you got a cookie at the drive thru's. She got two cookies!

Erika - love me an IKEA run. Have fun!!! Bring on the TR....

Steph - thanks for the Mocha update. Too cute.

Paula do you have an IKEA there?
YEs she is a cutie!

It all depends on the day -- you either get the sweet girl or the monster.
UUUGHH I swear the only time I see the nice girl is when she wants something! Other wise THe monster is mostly out! SHe is being sweet right now because Mocha ATE her phone (I had NO protection plan on it:confused3) and now she wants another one RIGHT NOW! so the sweet little girl is out playing NICE!

:rotfl:But of course. Mol swings back and forth. And she is SO intense. Like 2 nights ago, we were back at the shop and getting ready to drive to the house. She asked if she could drive. I said no. She was so baffled by that. Like, how could I not even know her to know she's an excellent driver. She gave me the intense stare all the way up. Which really - I probably could let her drive, but not MY car.

Whoopsie daisy drunky posty

So, I went today to watch England play the West Indies at one day international cricket......only for play to be abandoned with not one ball bowled due to 'adverse weather conditions'. The only thing to do all day whilst we waited to see if play would start was to drink Mojitos. Now I cant see! :rotfl:

Ok, I did read back but I can barely remember DH's name so I dont know how this will go! :lmao:

Steph - I am just watching Grey's Anatomy (NOT the finale unfortunately!), in the last episode Izzie had JUST told Christina she was ill.....

Liz - I :love:Diet Coke. It is my secret lover!

LisaV (?) - Did you manage not to duct tape your MIL's mouth?!

Dawn - Yours is a 4-for!
1) The picture of you and Treynor is fantastic!
2) I LOVE LOVE LOVE tea (obviously!), However, I will refrain from giving advice until tomorrow :lmao:
3) I hope Baylor is feeling better
4) I NEED a pm with your news!

Erika - Thank you for the use of "Brilliant" - more people should use it! :)
Also, your TR is great - I think the picture of your DH and Kelly is wonderful!

Everyone - Hi

I will read this back tomorrow and no doubt edit everything! :lmao:

Good day at Ikea! Bought the place out, or so it seemed! Now, of course, I have to put all of the crap together! Not looking forward to that.

Day 7 – Sea Day

Ah, a day with very little to do! Excellent! There were several Podcast events scheduled, but really, all we wanted at this point was to veg out in the sun. The live taping of the Podcast was at 9am but there was no way I was going to make that. It was definitely one of the things I really wanted to do, but since I had such a small amount of down time, I opted to bag the taping. And I am glad. It turns out that they have a video of the whole thing, so I’ll just watch that. Much better to spend time in Maine watching it as opposed to wasting my Caribbean time!

The day started out by all of us sleeping in. The kids had been up till midnight every night so far. Well, most of us slept in. I actually woke up early which was a good thing. I immediately went for a run and then to the internet café to get all of that out of the way. Jeff and I learned that if we wanted to maximize our fun time, we had to get work and exercise done and out of the way before breakfast.

We couldn’t DRAG Riley out of bed. OMG, he slept till nearly 10. We took the girls to breakfast in Triton’s. Yummy. Even breakfast is like 4 courses. At least one of them is fruit, so that should count for something, right?

After breakfast, we took the girls to the kids’ club and then I went to get Riley up while Jeff went to get work done. I took Riley up to the buffet just for the sake of time. Then dropped him up on the sports deck where his group was.

We basically had the whole day stretched out in front of us. Heaven. The one thing on the schedule was the Lee Cockerell talk. I got confused. The podcast had actually arranged two different speakers for the trip. One was the Disney Historian. He had all of these amazing stories about the early days of Disney World and Walt, plus just great stories about how to make visits magical for guests. He gave that presentation two times on the day before. We didn’t go thinking that we would catch the presentation on Sea Day (as opposed to taking time out of Castaway Cay day). But today was a different speaker entirely. This was Lee Cockerell who is a great speaker about leadership and Disney management methods. It was really interesting, but not the speech we thought we had signed up for. It was my mistake entirely. Oh well. I believe the talk given by the historian was also video taped, which would be awesome since Jeff and I both wanted to see him.

After the talk it was time for the Podcast group photo. I opted out. Again, I didn’t want all of this scheduled stuff. I just wanted to crash in the sun. So that is what Jeff and I both did at this point. We decided not to do lunch in a restaurant since it would take so long. We ate pizza and fries poolside instead and were out of our minds happy about it.

We spent the next couple of hours just lounging and reading and eating and napping. After a bit, we went and got the kids so that they could have some pool time. At this point, the Mickey pool was “normal.” It was only that first afternoon where it was awful and chaotic. There was plenty of room and they were happy to do the slide over and over and over again. They also bounced back and forth between the Mickey and Goofy pools. Jeff and I were happy with the Drink of the Day.

We had the kids get some pizza for dinner as this was our night for Palo. So once they were fed, we dropped them back in the club and we got ready for our big night.

DisneyCruiseMay2009162.jpg

Our reservation was for 6pm. I was excited about this. I know most people prefer a later time for Palo, but I wanted to eat while we still had a view. And this was perfect as sunset was at about 7:30, so I knew we would still be there for that. We were seated by a window (yes!) so we had these unbelievable panoramic views of the ocean. It was truly stunning.

Our server was Michael and he was flawless. We told him that we were vegetarians and he didn’t miss a beat. He instantly went into their specials that would be appropriate for us and also explained that the chef would be more than happy to come out to our table and discuss things with us if there was something specific we wanted. That wasn’t necessary as there was more than enough that sounded incredible.

While we were looking over the menu, Michael brought us a bread basket with 4 types of bread and a dish with 3 types of spread, including olive topenade which Jeff loved. We decided to splurge an order a bottle of wine. A lovely Chianti. I don’t even want to think about how much we paid. But we figured that Palo itself was a 5-star meal for free and the whole freaking cruise was free, so we justified the expense. And we are really glad—the meal deserved a good wine.

We then were served a vegetarian antipasto which was incredible. OMG. There was this marinated eggplant that was to. die. for. And we don’t usually care for eggplant, but this was so so so good.

Time to order. Appetizers (keeping in mind that we had already had bread and antipasto)—we decided to share an order of calamari (which is common for us. We adore calamari as do the kids.) Jeff had a really good salad and I had the jumbo shrimp salad. All of it was INCREDIBLE. We have both eaten at really, really high end restaurants. But this was on a different level.
Entrée time. I was conflicted. I really wanted the scallops, but they were served with a weird bean accompaniment. And Michael was sure I would love the lobster-stuffed ravioli (fresh made pasta, of course). In the end, I went with the lobster. Jeff got the ahi seared tuna which I was also very excited about.

Prior to the entrees being served, though, Michael brought out the intermezzo to cleanse our palettes. It was a lime and basil sorbet. Yes, basil…in sorbet. Don’t ask me how, but even that was amazing.

Then came our entrees. Michael arrives with the food and explains, “I know you were having a hard time deciding between the lobster and the scallops, so I brought you both.” OMG, I fell in love with him in that moment!

Everything was beyond description it was so good. The presentation! So beautiful. Surpassed only by taste. We both agreed that, hands down, this was the best meal we had ever had. Ever. We shared everything and there was nothing left over.

We were so full by this point, but there was no way we were going to pass up dessert. Their signature dessert is chocolate soufflé. Made individually to order. Of course, that is what I had to have. Jeff went with traditional Italian and ordered the tiramisu.

Once again, Michael went above and beyond and brought us a third dessert to share. Without question, the best desserts either of us have ever had. Neither of us could finish though. Just too full. Seriously, I don’t know if you have ever experienced this, but I was painfully full. Like my stomach was so full it was pressing against my rib cage and it hurt. But I didn’t care a bit. This was not a time to count calories. It was sheer indulgence and it was magnificent.

As planned, the sun set on the Caribbean as we were served our dessert. Stunning.

This was perfect from beginning to end. But the day was not over yet.

We got the kids and really wanted to go see the show Disney Dreams, but by the time we got out of Palo and signed the kids out, it had already started. We decided to just all spend some time up on Deck 10 enjoying the gorgeous tropical evening. All too soon, though, it was time to start packing. Bags had to be outside of the stateroom by 11pm and it was 9. And the Till we Meet Again Party was at 10:00. So down we went, where I turned into a mad woman…flying around both staterooms just shoving stuff in everywhere I could. I thought we would have plenty of room since we had brought several bottles of wine on board that were now all gone. But those damn fish extender gifts took up a ton of room. So it was shove city.

Also, at the beginning of the cruise, I dropped off white pillow cases at Guest Services so that the characters would sign them. Before leaving, I had each pillow case ready--embroidered with their names and character. Kelly had Pooh (natch). Cammie is all about Aurora so that was hers, and I just did a classic Mikey for Riley. Until about a year ago, he was totally about Buzz. And truth be told, I think he still is, but he knows that Buzz is too babyish so he pretends he isn't into him anymore. So I played it safe and went with Mickey. Anyway, their pillowcases were delivered and waiting for us on that last night.

DisneyCruiseMay2009200-1.jpg

Fortunately, I managed to get it all done and out in the hallway, and I even managed to remember to leave a change of clothes out for everyone so that we wouldn’t have to get off the ship in our jammies.

We went to the Till We Meet Again show and it was SO nice. Really, one of my favorite parts of the cruise. Since it was late, it was NOT crowded, loud, and chaotic (for once). All of the characters came out and they sang and waved good-bye and all of that. Then there was a 15-minute window for pictures. And since there weren’t that many people there, comparatively, we FINALLY got loads of pics with characters on the ship. We got Captain Mickey (we had been trying to get him all cruise), Minnie, Goofy in his sailor suit, Peter Pan and Anne Marie, and Aladdin. It was a big score and a GREAT way to end things. After photo ops were over, they all got together again, sang again, and it ended with a showering of sparkly pixie dust over us all. The kids LOVED it.

Back to the stateroom to get the last of the luggage settled and the kids showered and in bed.

Meanwhile, the Podcast Farewell Party was up on Deck 9. Jeff asked me to run up to 9 to get some pizza (as the kind he wanted wasn’t on the room service menu). So while waiting for the pizza, I got to say good-bye to the podcasters. (And yes, even though we had just finished an enormous meal at Palo a couple of hours earlier, Jeff had to have his farewell pizza! Ha!)

Learned a lesson here. Next time I will find a better way to have the luggage packed and ready to go. (I will start by bringing far less stuff, too. I way over-packed and that made it that much more time-consuming to get everything pulled together. And for 5 people, that is a lot of work.) It made me sad that I felt like I had “stuff” to do while others were enjoying their last night on board and having drinks and socializing, etc. I definitely blew it here. But still, Jeff and I enjoyed our last bit of wine, and he had his last slice of pizza and we called it a night. It was well after midnight.

Other than racing/panicking to get packed on time, it was a perfect day.

Oh and since Lyz will ask, it is pronounced keen-wah. I live in fear of her questions, you know. :lmao:

That's the part I have down  Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to have to get brave now and buy it! :scared:

My trip is nothing to say. :lmao: Booked it just a couple of days ago. SW went down to $59. They had a late night return flight Sunday. BWV standard studio was available for Friday and Saturday.

And voila. The magic of DVC. :worship:

$59? WOW. where do I sign up? :confused3wait. is that $59 US dollars? Like you aren't going to tell me there's some insane exchange rate right now, are you? :lmao:

No AI for us.

Ok. Maybe I missed something. What do you mean by "no AI for us"? 'Cause in this house when you start talking "AI" you're picking a buck from the tank. I'll only explain further if completely necessary...:rolleyes1

It's not so bad yet -- boys are still yucky at this point. Once that changes, it'll be a different story, I'm sure.

See. This is where I feel totally fortunate that my 2 boys came before the girl. She knows what boys are all about. They smell. They're doofy. They're idiots who aren't worth her time. Now, all her FRIENDS who either have no brothers or their brothers are still little? OY. The giggling girly crap around the boys makes me c.r.a.z.y.

And the attitude? Shoot. She flips faster than any light switch I've ever seen. :scared1: Honestly. I don't remember being such a snot head when I was her age

Why is it that weeds grow longer and faster than grass?

Good question. :upsidedow

Haven't had time to check out that link as of yet....

wondering - Are you and Carsyn still walking? :confused3

:rotfl2: oh momma. She's going to give you a run for your money!

Good day at Ikea! Bought the place out, or so it seemed! Now, of course, I have to put all of the crap together! Not looking forward to that.

:rotfl2: But here's the best part. Because YOU are doing it, you can actually read the directions BEFORE it's put together wrong :lmao:

STEPH - OMG. Mocha is adorable. And the ducks! :yay: oh. and the job. Did you tell us what you decided? I missed it if you did :flower3:

Amiee - must you be so chipper in the morning? That is just cruel.

I just couldn't help myself. It was a first for me today and I had been up for nearly 45 mins, lol.

E ~ love day 7. Palo sounds amazing! I heart Ikea. Oh, I could do so much damage.

That's the part I have down  Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to have to get brave now and buy it! :scared:

Nothing to be afraid of! And if turns out awful, the goats will eat it, right? :rotfl2:

Ok. Maybe I missed something. What do you mean by "no AI for us"? 'Cause in this house when you start talking "AI" you're picking a buck from the tank. I'll only explain further if completely necessary...:rolleyes1

We were talking about American Idol. My kids really like it. But now I'm gonna need your meaning. :lmao: Cause further explanation is definitely necessary.

See. This is where I feel totally fortunate that my 2 boys came before the girl. She knows what boys are all about. They smell. They're doofy. They're idiots who aren't worth her time. Now, all her FRIENDS who either have no brothers or their brothers are still little? OY. This is my hope. Riley will be a senior when Cam is a soph and Kel is a freshman. I keep thinking this is a good thing. But then my friend Kate scared the freaking hell out of me. I was prattling on about how great it was going to be that the girls will have their older brother in high school to help watch out for them, etc. And Kate says, "Yeah, but just wait till Riley has some of his friends over and they say to him, 'Dude, your sisters are hot...'" OMG, I died. I am never going to survive the teen-age years. Ok, that is an exaggeration. I'll survive. But I'll be drunk...a lot.

wondering - Are you and Carsyn still walking? :confused3

You really are trying for that whistle, aren't you??? :lmao:

:rotfl2: But here's the best part. Because YOU are doing it, you can actually read the directions BEFORE it's put together wrong :lmao:

RIGHT! :thumbsup2 And I already have two bookshelves and one end table already done.

STEPH - OMG. Mocha is adorable. And the ducks! :yay: oh. and the job. Did you tell us what you decided? I missed it if you did :flower3:

Steph, I missed it, too. What is the deal?

LisaV--I am so happy for you that you get to spend your birthday at WDW. Wonderful! You SO need a bit of pixie dust about now, eh? Are you going alone? With Jean? Yeah, the cutie and I are gonna need more details. And I don't even have to worry about asking, because since it is for the Cutie, I know you will do it! :lmao::cutie:

 Oh. whoops. American Idol. my bad. No American Idol for us either.

<ack> well. Just remember. You asked for the explanation. AI= artificial insemination. Yes. We've done that. Becca shared with her entire 4th grade class how she helped her dad one time. Thought the teacher was going to pass out.

my whistle. :yay: oh how I want a whistle! But I was just askin'. This time ;)

Good job getting that furniture together. But I can't help but ask. Is this stuff for the camp? Would it not have been easier to move it BEFORE it was put together? :confused3

You SO need a bit of pixie dust about now, eh?

Look at you - talkin' all in a Canadian accent :lmao:

LisaV - wonderful birthday gift to yourself!!!! the trip that is. not the accent. Although I'm sure that's pretty awesome too.

I'm delirious. Too tired. 'night all!

Yeah, I will be putting most of it together up there. You are definitely right...moving it while it still all boxed up will be a ton easier. But I won't have that much time when up there and I had a few hours this afternoon, so I had to make use of the time.

It is all for the camp. I am getting excited! It is going to be cute. Part of me would like to put "real" furniture in there instead of IKEA stuff, but this seems like the right way to go.

I was talking with Lyz earlier and pretty much decided that I am going to move our living room set (that is in the bonus room/music room here) up there and buy new for this house. It just makes more sense. The stuff I have up there is brand new and perfect for a camp. Very basic but sturdy, etc. And it is never what I really wanted for up there. I had to buy stuff really quickly and didn't have time to think and plan, etc. So I just went with very basic, neutral stuff. It is good quality and decent looking--just bland and not what I would ideally like to have up there. So, without Jeff's knowledge, I am going to move that set up to camp and buy all new stuff for the music room! Ha! He'll approve, I'm not worried. That is one area where we never have an issue.

 Oh. whoops. American Idol. my bad. No American Idol for us either.

Look at Nancy vying for her whistle.... that is too cute.

Sorry for not posting earlier, but it has been a busy night. Went to the gym and worked out my core with Jesse. Yup - he kicked my butt, again. Someone needs to tell me that crawling in a plank position does not look nearly as ridiculous as I think it does. I am not buying Jesse's crap that it looks normal.

I am off to make my lunch and head to bed. One more day until a much deserved three day weekend... yeah!

Later...

Erika - so going to need pictures of all this new furniture.... Happy shopping...
