In Search of My Body - Not the One I Ate... Vol. 6: Goddesses just want to have fun

THAT is an adorable picture!

Sermon - Jebus, I'm Catholic and even we don't do that at weddings! It's all love and choose to love and all that stuff.

Thank Goodness. I've never quite experienced anything like that.

And loved your story Liz. :lovestruc

It was truly a memory that we won't soon forget. But apparently quite the norm for them.

Long marriages. Hmmmm. Sometimes long marriages - sometimes  - are about someone having the upperhand. Obey was there people. As was some line I blocked out about man's role in the marriage. We went right into the ribs and the creation of woman from man. We did. Thank God I was on drugs for cramps. :lmao:

Gosh I'm such a sinner - so far gone to them I must be persona non grata :lmao: I wonder if they think I've found Jesus eventhough I came with my ex. :lmao:

Brandon's Mom was pushing Jean up to the single girls thingy for who was getting married next. She like "Jean you're a single lady". And she KNOWS Jean is gay. I hardly think the bouquet throw at their weddings welcomes homosexuals. I simply adore denial. It's so flippin' fascinating to me. :lmao:

Wow, crazy church message for a wedding. Talking about divorce and adultery on your wedding day! Sheesh!

And FYI--it was just that pastor. Dutch Reformed is my religion (though here in Maine we are Congregational since there are no RCA churches here) and it is not a "fire and brimstone" religion at all. Totally mainstream, white bread protestant. Communion only on the first Sunday of the month...and with grape juice.

We are still churchless and it is difficult for me. I haven't been without a home church in 17 years.

Wow Erika! Fascinating.

I had no idea. I was told they were all similar. Holy cow. What you learn on a weight loss thread. :lmao:

Maybe I have the wrong words. Do you have two sermons to go to on a Sunday? I always have to work out family meals/holidays around two sermons they have to attend.

I doubt it because how would your family day fit in?

Now I'm really going to find out when they get home from honeymoon.

Is your dad back at church? That one is too far?

:yay: Hi Steph!!! I've missed you!

It has been far too cold here to even think about going in the pool! With day-time high's in the 60*s there has been no chance of the water warming...and no, our pool is not heated ;)

Well the weather here hasn't been great but the kids don't care! pool water is now 69/ 70 ish. I have been in but I don't stay in long!
Nancy i've missed you too!

Hi Amiee & Steph!!!
HI LYZ!!!!

WORD!!!

Oh I am so hot. I want a pool so bad. So bad. So bad. Poor Maddi, I dropped Molli off at the city pool with friends today, but Mad can't go, cause I'm too vain. So we took a hot walk instead.
OOO your such am mean mommy!

and a pool boy. Don't forget the pool boy:rolleyes:

I need a pool boy too!

Two services on Sunday? NO. Just the one regular one. And if a church is large and has a big congregation, etc., then there are often services on Wednesday night as well. But never required/expected to go twice on the same Sunday.

I am wondering if maybe it was a CRC (Christian Reformed Church) as opposed to Reformed Church of America (RCA, which is mine). Both have Dutch roots. But the CRC is WAY more conservative. Anti-gay and all of that.

Yeah, my dad's church is about 25 - 30 minutes from here, so not really doable for a regular church. And yes, he is back at work, which is huge.

That's great about your father Erika.

And my apologies for my blanket statements. I have nothing against churches. Just double talking. And BS.

Yeah it's got to be different Erika. Maybe a Canadian branch? Because I have another friend same thing. Exactly. And diffferent church. Just as strict. Dutch Reformed as well. And learned of a third Dutch Reformed even more strict. So different branch.

It's called Bethel Canadian Reformed. But I guess that tells you nada.

And two services where you "have" to go on Sunday. And when I said "norm for them" I meant Elysha's church specifically. My other niece who is a missionary told me all weddings are similar there.

I am a very spiritual person - I truly believe that's how I've healed some things. THat in itself has been a spiritual experience. And was brought up Protestant. I know I'm joking around but it was something - the service. Really.

The reception was lovely.

Their congregation is not for dancing. They think it leads to sin. So it was a debate for my niece. Hard times with some of the elders. But it was great. The way they came to a compromise - groom was struggling. They made it so that more than half the people could leave at what was the end of the "wedding" and then the DJ set up late and so they could exit and those who were okay with it could stay. My niece was a dancer growing up so she is okay with it.

Interesting.

I'm waking up the thread!!!:lmao: And I've already been up over an hour. Funny times. :rotfl:

Have a wonderful day everyone!:lovestruc

Morning!
Today is the last day of school!!!!:cool1: No More 7am wake up calls!

Morning! Stressful day for me today. Not worth going into detail about, just think good thoughts for me, k?

LisaV--no need to apologize. I knew you were just making comments based on observations. Even if it was the same type of church that I go to, I would not have been offended.

Steph--pool looks GREAT! It looks BIG. What are the dimensions? I'm gonna need more pics. ;)

Erika the pool is 20 x 40. It has a slide and diving board. The deep end is 9 ft deep and the shallow end is 3 ft. and not much of a grade in between. It kinda drops off. Its almost like an above ground pool that they put inground. Not like the concrete pools that I am used to.
The concrete around the pool is in horrid shape. I think when they put the pool in the did the concrete right off and then everything settled. All the concrete heaved. So we have removed the worst parts and will remove the rest this fall and in the spring we are replacing it all. I guess we are going to stamp the concrete.

LisaV - Great pictures, very good looking bride and groom! The beauty of getting married in a hotel like I did is that I could throw the bouquet to anyone I wanted :lmao: I didn't do the bouquet throw though, I kept it and took it up to the cemetery!

Erika - Good thoughts winging over to you

Steph - Im jealous of your pool :) What I wouldn't give to have nice enough weather for a pool...maybe I'll get a childrens paddling pool for the 4 nice days of weather we have a year :rotfl:

I simply adore denial. It's so flippin' fascinating to me. :lmao:

This made me laugh so much!
My Nanan is BIG into the denial - my cousin is gay, lived with her partner for YEARS, had a baby together and my Nanan still introduced her partner as either 'friend' or 'roomate'!
It just makes me and my cousin laugh - theres no changing some people, so theres no point trying! :rotfl:

A friends of my mom has an aunt anne and she has a "Friend" Marme and that is how aunt anne has always introduced her as her friend! But they have been together for YEARS I think they are now both in their 70's.

OMG, it is hot here. For June this is absurdly hot. It's been in the 90s for several days with drenching humidity. I worked in the attic Sunday – removed a window and replaced it with louvers to get more airflow through the little whirlygig vents. Last night I walked nine holes of golf. We got to watch a thunderhead develop to the north. It was beautiful. The sun was setting and the west side of this towering cloud was a brilliant white. Just beautiful. Today I rode my bike to work. If I shake my little fist at the heat, maybe it will go away. Don’t give in…

Paula – a late atta girl for the loss.

Erika – Good thoughts

I’ve been doing well with exercise, but have hunted chocolate like big game for the last week. Mercifully, TOM has arrived and chocolate can breathe a sigh of relief. Until next month. I saw a great article in the NYTimes yesterdy about why certain foods seem irresistable. Check it out. It really registered with me.

We look enviously at a home in our neighborhood with a vacant lot next door and think about pool possibilities. We return to our lovely, small, easy-to-mow back yard and head out to the Y. In fact, I think I’ll go to the Y tonight while Sue has her last session with the personal trainer. We received four free sessions with our signup in April. I should do the same.

E - speaking of core workouts…. just sayin’ do it if you can.

Ronda

Lisa V - Love the pics! I think they make a very nice couple. And it's always nice to see you and Jean gussied up!

Lyz - side job. Tell us more.

Erika - Are you doing your core right now???

Pools - we have this one from Costco, blow up with a slide. Brand new this year!

Just back from seeing The Proposal. Mentally preparing to run at some point. ;) Also, lots more emotional stuff. Good times! :thumbsup2

We SAW that pool, I think, at Sam's. Both of us were like, they didn't have stuff like that when WE were kids... betcha Em loves it!!

Steph, that pool looks fab. It is likely a fiberglass insert, which from what I have read/heard actually holds up better than a straight concrete pool. We have a stamped concrete patio and it looks great... I bet when you are done it will look like a resort pool!

D would be green with envy too (but not lime), esp at the 9ft deep end. He loves deep pools. If we stay at BCV he spends most of his free time in that deep lazy river.

As to religion, well, I am with the love everyone and don't judge anyone camp. I am garden-variety Protestant (Presbyterian) but haven't been to church, really, since I moved South. I had a great church in Chicago that was very urban and very progressive, though. I really think that a lot of it depends on the specific minister and church.

My wedding was in a Southern Baptist church with the *nicest* wee old minister. I basically picked it base on the exterior and location, as it was a pretty little white church about 5 min from the reception site. He really couldn't have been nicer, marrying an divorced agnostic/atheist and a lapsed Presbyterian, with such grace that D was like, if I went to church I would go to his. His wife helped my mom set up the church, and he came and gave the blessing at the reception. Such a nice man.

My stress for the moment is over, thankfully. This will be an ongoing issue, but it seems that the bulk is behind me. Let's hope.

Now how's this for dedication? We have a lapse in the rain right now. And I need to run. But I have all 3 kids home and my parents are in NYC visiting my 40-year old single brother who gets free Disney passes (ahem...). So how am I going to get a run in? I just told them all to go get their bikes. Yup, they are going to ride along with me while I run. This will be a new experiment. I'll let you know the result.

And Ronda! Oooh, a new member of the police force! :rotfl2: Yup, keep hounding me about that core. I have it planned for tonight! :thumbsup2

Erika - can't wait to hear how the run goes... I am doing a full core workout with Jesse tonight so we can compare notes. After I am done with Jesse, it is time to hop on the bike and get some miles in... Two workouts in one day - ugh... I am tired just thinking about it...

Ronda - I saw the weather report this morning and noticed that Kansas City was in the middle of the heat wave. Take it easy out there...

still trying to catch up from the last few days of craziness... so don't want to feel tired anymore....

I'm SO freakin' annoyed right now. I screwed up. Totally and completely my own fault. Seth's college health forms are due next week. We knew that - no trouble. He had his physical in January, TB test 2 weeks ago. Good to go, right?
Great - so now I am panicy - need to call school and inquire about health forms - have not gotten any info on that! Room assignment just came and he is in a double room with his friend and they got the building they wanted - 2 bedrooms with an adjoining bathroom between the 2 bedrooms- cleaning lady once a week for bathroom included! Way better than I had it at college!

Glad your ped's helped face to face - as far as graduation and teary eyes - I teared up and took in the moment at Treyner's last game - the other parents are aliens and just packed up their lawn chairs!
Hi everyone...

Made it to Jenny Crai and lost 2.6 pounds. I was stunned. I was doing a little theraputic eating last night and combined with being out of town all weekend, I was positive that there would be a token loss at best or a gain. Thank you weight loss gods....:worship::worship::worship: I really don't think I could have handled a gain right now.
I am doing a happy dance for you right now Paula - so awesome!

Did anyone else notice we are on page 100???
I did !:thumbsup2

If I was as good lookin and had a body as good as yours - i would be going to the grocery in a tankini! That tells you size is so judgemental buy the person who owns it! I heard on the radio today that a Japanese and French study said that people who carry a little bit of weight on them are healthier, have a better sex life, enjoy life more etc. That the ubber skinny are sick more often and obsess too much to enjoy the moment.

Now that being said - my window of goal weight is okay - 130-145. Not 120 - not 125 but realistic.:)

One day we are sitting in church and my pastor gets up to preach and starts talking about divorce. How you have no right to judge anyone else, and you have no idea what goes on in a marriage unless you're in it, and you need to treat divorce with respect and compassion. And if you don't openly share your problems in marriage, and listen to others, you're not doing anything to help marriages in trouble. And Nick and I turn to each other, like, huh? One of us says "I'm not sure this is the party line, but I sure love him for saying it all". So the longest sermon my pastor has ever given was all about being understanding and supporting those who go through divorce. I never found out what prompted it, but that's why I loved that church. They walked the talk of love.
If only all people could be like that and show each other the love and generosity of an open mind and giving spirit!
Morning!

Brat! You are a lucky duck! It doesn't seem that long ago you were just looking at buying a house with a pool!

We got back late yesterday morning - Treyner officially bought his Jeep Cherokee - he is like a toddler - just sits in it and rubs the dash Will try and post a pic of it!

Game reslts - we are done - Treyner played game 1 - (0-0) other goaile was in game 2 and got scored on 2 times - one legit goal - one he should have had. (when a ball is being lofted it is easier to come out of the box than back pedal into it and have it go behind you. It was a penalty kick from mid field so plenty of time for a good set up.)

Last game - Treyner was in - we lost 1-0. It was a corner kick that was blocked but then everyone was in the goal area and jst a cluster to have as a goalie. Great shot - good goal I thought - a few parents and Tryenr's coach thoght 2 of theri players were off sides - but that was the ruling so we are done.

In the 1st half of Monday's game - a kid from Missouri went up for the ball in our net and collided with one of our defenders - landed on ankle wrong and broke his ankle literally in half. Horrible to see a boy in that much pain and the paramedics on sight took 30 minutes to get to him!

Thought abot heading to Florida today and have Dan ly in to meet us in Orlando tom evening - cheap one way airfare - but noone is motivated to leave today. Treyner is exhasted - 95 degrees and humid as heck - plus it rained 24 hours straight in SD so muggy and we are all just moving slow.)

So we will head out well rested with one more driver tom at 1 p.m. It will be a long drive but Dan fixed AC in van so we are set!!:worship:

It is hot here -upper 80's to low 90's and no break in sight!

We will be back late the 4th or early the 5th - Treyner's best friend is having his going away picnic in Iowa where most of his family is so we will be there on the 4th. He is excited to be a Marine but I worry about him. His grad ceremony is in CA in Sept and may try like heck to go.

Other than that all is good here. Some really positive changes in our lives and that is always a great thing!:goodvibes

Hope yo all are doing well and I will have my laptop with in FL so I will try and stay up to date and have a TR for you all when we get back.
