In search of my body...not the one I ate! Part Deux... We sit at the popular table!

Hi everyone! Can a newbie join in with you? I followed over her from Dizneydawn's PTR (which I followed from StagemomX3's trip report). I am planning a trip to Disney World this fall, and could really use some help losing some weight (ok -- a LOT of weight...) and just generally getting in shape.

It's about time for me to run to bed for now. I will check back in the morning, with more info about me and such.

Welcome, Darla! Of course we have room for more! Can't wait to learn more and get to know you! We let it all out here...the good, the bad, the ugly, the funny, the sarcastic, well...you get the idea! :goodvibes

Gosh, Jodi--that is a tough one. I guess I would err on the side of kindness and compassion and go as opposed to not go. Here is my thinking on this:

You and SIL have been very close for years. Eventually, this mess will likely blow over (at least between you and her...maybe not as easily for the brothers). And if/when you and SIL reconcile, well, then you wouldn't want a NEW grudge about how you didn't go to her mom's funeral.

The second point here is that you had no issue or problems with the woman who died, right? You have known her since you were 16 and were always friendly with HER. And this service is about HER. So, I say go and at least pay your respects. You don't have to stay long...just long enough to pay your respects. The funeral is not about your BIL or SIL...it is about this kind woman who you have known for most of your life and toward whom you hold no anger.

Finally, as I was saying...when you have a choice between showing kindness and compassion or holding onto anger (even though it is very justified), I say go with kindness and compassion. Does this make sense?

Anyway, that is my two cents here...I would love to hear other points of view on this. This is just off the top of my head...I didn't analyze it from other angles, so maybe someone else has.

Jodi - okay, I am in brutally honest mode today - just ask my husband! So...

I think you have to go. Or rather, do what you and your family would normally do. If that's attend services, do it. If your kids would normally go to the wake, then they go. Your husband's choice is his, but I would encourage him to behave as he would in better circumstances.

Now me, I'd tell Nick he HAD to go, but I don't recommend bullying to other wives! ;)

When you lose someone, there is nothing but good feelings for those who come to the services, and on the other hand, any negative feelings can just be blown up if you guys don't show.

Although they have been awful to you, you can be better than them and be do the right thing. Your kids and husband don't have to talk to them, just show up and be there. Don't give them any amunition against you, and you may even give them comfort. Win-win.

Thanks,

I planned on going because of just what you both said, Lonnie (who died) did nothing wrong, and either did Lori's bother or father. I feel the same way both you do, that I need to show respect for the family and don't have to hang and be all chummy. Then after the house deal is done, I will write a letter or try to get them both together and talk with them expressing how is home tu

It is just hard watching a husband you have been with for 26 years and has a very tough exterior, be depressed. I asked him tonight to come out and sit on the porch, she said no, walked in the house and fell asleep, this was 8:15. Not him. The money is a huge issue right now and we have no garrents the house will sell right away, so July 1st is another 3,300. out of your pockets, and each month it does not sell.

I know this is a broken record, and I do feel really sorry for Lori and her family. I have had many good years with them. I think your right, that the brothers might have a longer time patching things up then Lori and I. But I do need to support my husband.

Like I said earlier, I planned on going, just did know if I should make my husband, or just let him deal with it later.

Thanks so much for your opions, I greatly apprecate them...

Hey welcome:::::banana: :cool1: :hyper:

It is very fun here, we love new friends.

Jodi - agree with E & L. Kindness and compassion over anger. I wouldn't make your husband go. That is his to deal with. And making him go is worse than him not showing up. KWIM?

And the money. Mmmm. My tummy hurts for you just thinking of it.

Darla - welcome to the party. All jokes need to be pass thru me before you post them. Ha, just kidding. Post away.

Post #2 has most of our gangs information. We've had a few drop off and a few new that I just haven't collected info on.

Darla, welcome!! This is great group.

Jodi, I agree with the other, wiser members of the group. for everything you are dealing with.

Real Life Name: Darla

Location: Upstate NY

Family: husband Duane, daughter Elizabeth, 3 cats (Chex, Cornflakes and Evil), five dogs (Chuckie, Pigtail, Max, Susie and Molly), a rabbit (Mr Rabbit), and a turtle (Turd face).

Occupation: Help Desk Technical Assistant (hopefully Computer Programmer soon)

Goals: Lose 100+ pounds, get somewhat organized

Struggles: I am a wonderful procrastinator. Not necessarily a good thing. As far as weight struggles, I am definitely an emotional eater.

Interesting facts:
My husband and I were in the same first grade class. We also homeschool our daughter.

Inside story you want to share: When we invited my mother along on our currently-planned trip, we surprised her at christmas. I had made up a little travel book. When she opened it, the look on her face was priceless. On my PTR, I've got a series of pictures of her opening it. I did something similar the year before, when we took her to Tennessee with us. I like to surprise people :)

Favorite Disney Park, ride and song:
I've never been to Disney World, so I don't have a favorite park or ride yet. Song... That's hard - there are so many good ones! First one that came to mind at the moment -- Whole New World.

Anything else you want to add: I'm looking forward to getting to know some new friends!

WOW, Darla! You are SO gonna fit in around here! Let's start with the animals! OMG! That is quite the zoo you have going! :rotfl2: (Just means you rival Nancy and the goats plus all her other creatures!) Is there any reason behind having all of those pets?

Elizabeth...we will need pics of this princess! :rotfl2: We are all about pics on this thread. I mean, Liz doesn't dare get dressed in the morning unless she has first taken a pic of her proposed outfit, posted it here, and gotten feedback from us! I'd put the little laughing smiley here except that it is true! Seriously though, how old is she? And what made you decide to homeschool?

(As you can see, we talk about WAY more than weight loss here!)

As for weight loss, though...do you have a particular program in mind? We have people doing all sorts of things here...Jenny Craig and WW and calorie coutning on Spark, etc. As for the getting your life organized...if you have been reading the past few pages from just this week, you will see that we all share that goal as well as the weight loss goal.

And you VERY FIRST Disney trip! Oh my! Of course, we need the details on this. When? Where are you staying? ADRs? We need to know. :rotfl2:

Ok, I will stop here so that I won't completely overwhelm you...:rolleyes1

I've never been to Disney World,

And apparently quite a little early bird. 6:19 am.:scared1:

I too have the procrastination gene. Get's me in trouble.

Your first trip to DISNEY! Whoo hoo. Agree with 3DK, we gonna need the details.

I *plan* to not be here this morning. I really have to much to do before this afternoon.

Which I am doing one of my FAVORITE things. Look forward to it all year.

A parade of homes, for $$$$million$$$$ dollar homes. Fun. Fun. Fun. One of these days, gonna have me one of them.

So have fun and I'll check in tonight.

This is the 'princess' in question. However, we don't dare call her a princess. She is much to tomboy-ish to accept that. This picture was taken in May, when we went to NC and TN. This is at Newfound Gap in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. She is 9 going on about 30. :rotfl2:

As for homeschooling, we've been doing it since the end of first grade, and we just finished up third grade. There were a lot of factors that made us decide to home school. Teachers claiming they didn't have enough time to spend one-on-one (when they only had 16 kids in the class, and an aide for part of the day!) was pretty much the breaking point. We decided to give it a try, and are very glad we did! She has just blossomed by not having to be in 'school.' It just works for us. How long will we home school? I'm not sure. We have no real set plans. As long as it keeps working for us, I guess.

I'm not doing any particular plan. I guess the problem is that I know what I need to do, I just can't get my butt in gear to do it. What worked for me once before was a modified version of the Atkins diet. Carbs are definitely my weakness...

Our very first trip, yes! Not just the three of us, either. We are also bringing my mom (58 yrs old) and my MIL (76 yrs old)! None of us have ever been to Disney World. We're going to be there 10/22 thru 11/1, and staying at the Caribbean Beach with the Deluxe Dining Plan. We are SO looking forward to this trip!

It is now 10:19 and I see that you are still on!!!:rotfl2:

Explain this parade of $$$million $$$ homes?? Inquisitive minds want to know

Trust me we have all been there! It took my mother getting sick and me yelling at her to lose weight for HER HEALTH for me to realize that I am also over weight and I don't want anymore health problems than I already have! SO I joined her at WW and we are almost the same in weight loss, I have a few more pounds lost but mostly because of her health problems. You will know when you are ready and you will do it!

Just finished reading your Pre trippie! It will be fun to have a whole family of First timers! I am hoping that I will have a few First timers on my next trip!!!

Trying to get caught up...got a few pages done...will try more later...

Super on the 4 mile walks, I enjoy my walking, but I do like having someone with me, I am a talker. This is no joke, I had a dream last night I was grocery shopping and I found the biggest raspberries ever like the size of a big strawberry. I know my sex dreams have come to a hault now its all about the fruits. :rotfl: Oh no...prepare for Y2K...the sequel...Jodi's loosing her sex dreams!!!

Boxing too
how do you stand up or even walk. You must be in terrific shape, the crown should be yours. Keep it up :worship:
EriKa and Kat - I wanna hit sumpin too!
Great job!!!:thumbsup2

I agree with the rest, just keep track and move on. I think every one has had a over indulge night.

Night or life or year???
I like the motto: And I would like to thank all of you for your surport and kind words. Everyone on here inspires me to keep on moving. I have a really long journey, and my abs really really hurt this morning, even to cough I have to hold my ribs. But it is a good hurt :woohoo:.
Jodi is finding her abs...I need to find my @ss!:lmao:

Actually that is how I found my way here is by your trip report... I found Dawn through you and then followed here! They are a great bunch of girls here!
Can I have dementia??? Maybe I did not know you followed me from Stage Mom...
Glad to see you back here, Dawn! Don't feel that you have to stay away just because you are not on program! In fact, when I slip (meaning EAT crappy food or too much food), this is the FIRST place I come to get my head back on straight. Or when I feel like blowing off a work-out, I come here, read for a bit and then I am energized and motivated.
Truthfully guys...it is not as bad as not wanting to post..it is about having time to post...Treyner's life is taking over mine...I just wish his Father would be able to help out...yeah right!

Dawn, I second this. Oh, "Creater of thread". This is not about being on target. If it was, I would SO NOT be welcome here. I have gained 6 lbs since January 1. Thank goodness you are brave..I have gained about 3 I think...and my darn ticker for December keeps moving closer...who is keeper of the calendar....hmmm....

This is about encouragement, inspiration and respite. While you can certainly do what you want and go where you want, please don't think of us with hesitation. K? And don't be sorry either. We love you. Wherever your daily post takes you.

True said sister....

Since we're on a hair band kick at the moment, I have two words for you all....

Bon Jovi....

Is there really anything else that needs to be said...

livin on a prayer...
Goof
I was a schmoo in high school...their was a guy who liked me a lot...never said yes to go out with him...except 2 weeks before college...when he had 3rd row tickets to Bon Jovi...:confused3
If Heart's Were Built Like John Deere Tractors, it be happy ever after. I love country, most of it. Love Sawyer Brown. Me too...Carsyn just saw them at a country weekend concert here...she even thougt they were great and hot!! Sorry E. Love Bon Jovi too. Jimmy Buffet is a mainstay, Give me a Cheeseburger in Paradise anyday...got the parent trap cd down thanks to Catie. Bobby Darin makes his appearances. The kiddos sing along to him in the car. We (Cevin) make sure they are off to bed and asleep by a quarter to nine. Our time! There is this line in one of his songs that says "these arms are going to tenderly twine, around you, a quarter to nine". I've got thr rock, and remember a ways back I confessed I listen to some Christmas songs to motivate me for this years Christmas. Great idea!

Okay, I have to declare thread bankruptcy! I have read all the posts, but i will be here forever if I reply to all of them. :( Sorry!!!
I am fighting thread bancruptcy...I will probabaly loose!

Howwwwww cute is she!!!
Okay, off to work and weigh in! Thinking of all of you!

Ohhh, that's annoying! For a full day, "other people's kids" are bad enough, but "bratty other people's kids" well, that's downright frightening.

We should be able to issue citations for rotten kids...parents pay us for having to listen to them...as bad as loud music that police can issue a citation for...
Ok...that is all for now...will read the new pages since yesterday and then try to get more caught up later...

So as for me yesterday I felt crappy all day! I was cold and miserable! The weather here in north east NY is crappy. I had to work and I hadn't worked in 2 days so I wasn't looking forward to going in. I think the only reason I did go in was because I was working a half shift. I was totally miserable at work... again freezing and I thought about it miserable cold sluggish and tired, OOOPSS haven't taken my thyroid medicine since SUNDAY!:scared1:. I remembered that I had put in for the refill but never got to walmart to get it! I went to work early so I could leave early and get there before the pharmacy closed. I warned everyone at work If I snap at you it isn't me! I have no meds in me!
I got home and Dh had my dinner waiting for me I think I had it gone before he sat down. With that we settled into watching TV and boom I was a sleep on the couch and it was only 830. He said it was 9:00 and he was going to bed and I said Ok night and rolled over and went back to sleep on the couch. I woke up at 10 and went to bed. I don't think I have been this tired in a very long time. Then to shatter my peaceful sleep I heard DH cell phone ringing I figured he slept through his alarm and they calling to wake him. But it was only 3:00A.M! he wasn't due in for another 30 minutes. I told him to get up and get his phone and he never came back to bed! There was a cow delivering and was in stress. So he had to help PULL the cafe out!
I did get my medicine in me this morning so I should start feeling better. I hope! I have to work tonight AGAIN! Half shift though so it won't be bad. Boy do I wish that I could be rich and not have to work!!!LOL:lmao: :rotfl2:
I hope everyone has a great day

It is great you let her be herself!!
This is the 'princess' in question. However, we don't dare call her a princess. My neighbor is also a tomboy...now with a small chest and Baylor who is her best friend is not sure how to take his friend being a girl with ****s now...no more wrestling in a very boy way...:lmao: She is much to tomboy-ish to accept that. Can I have dementia??? Maybe I did not know you followed me from Stage Mom...

No you don't have Dementia I just went back to look and I didn't give credit to Chelle for directing me to your Trip report! Which I laughed uncontrollably though! (I think that may have been some activity point I could have tracked!!)

But through scottny report to Chelle report I found my way to yours and from yours to here~ So there it is no dementia!:rotfl2: :lmao:

Y'all have been busy today!!

I have "employee appreciation" lunch and afternoon so I will be MIA until much later.

Darla, thanks for all the info! I am a computer programmer for a bank... been doing this for 12 years now, so let me know if you need any help/advice.

Dawn, glad to see you back posting. We have missed you.
