I have some outstanding news. Background: Jean and I met working at a high school. We were both Educational Assistants for LD and behavioural students. It was a tough school. Great for me because it was just after university and the lack of boundaries from them formed mine quickly.
Anyway, this was years ago. She started there in the late eighties. Me 1994 at that school.
Jean left to look after Mama and start her own business about five years ago. She was offered a buyout so it was a win-win situation.
Anyway, her business is fine but not enough so she got a job as Director of Camps and Clinics for who everyone told her was an a$$hole. And guess what he was. One day she came into work and decided he only wanted part time employees.
So she got another position in our board of ed but had no seniority because of leaving and we, my board too, are highly highly unionized. So her boss couldn't do anything when she was bumped although he loved her.
So two of her jobs poof in two years. That has been very stressful.
So I told her leave our board. It's bumping, bumping, bumping because of closing schools - declining population.
She got a permanent position today in another board. Had the interview today. Said they had more to interview. Will be interviewing all week and will phone on Friday. The superintendent phoned two hours after the interview to offer her it. Permanent, benefits (for her since we're not together

) and she's a mobile behavioural EA. Which is great since the superintendent is her boss. He said he called because of her resume (which is like gold for this kind of postion) and interview.
So she still has her business but this relieves so much for her and for us since we still pool money and my work has been keeping us above water. And my work - being supply - can be Christmas and then barren.
So happy for her. So relieved. Relieves so much stress. Just relieves so much stress. So thrilled for her.
Now, I should change boards since my position has so much redeployment as well.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A good day. A good day. It's been a long road.
And tomorrow - my niece is singing during the inauguration. Her choir. She's not solo.

So excited for her. My American niece is case you're wondering and if you are Nancy afraid to ask. Colombian mother, Canadian father = American niece and nephew. America! America!
I told you we call you the States, eh?
