In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Lisa, I will seriously send it to you if want to borrow my copy. I can part with it for awhile. I am on to rereading the others anyhow.

Oh Amy. Thanks so much. So sweet. But the money to send it would be the money for me to buy it. And I don't want you doing that. I'm trying to watch myself that's why I'm library hunting. Thank you though.

I always hated Santa in this .....and Rudolph's daddio too. Both so incredibly aloof. :lmao:

How I hate aloof.

He just hid his nose. I hate him. :lmao: You suck Donner.

Lisa--Didn't even think about the postage.Duh.I know for sure you can get it in paperback now, I saw it for 6 dollars the other day (US dollars of course :) )

Liz--I might be on AIM later. we will discuss at some point though. I am currently slugging down a bottle of wine, so who knows how long I'll last!!

So,DH is talking about wanting to go out this weekend too (other than the xmas party that has been confirmed for Sunday). I feel so obligated to stay here so he can go out, since I did get to have a west palm drunkfest last month among several other local drunkfests with my BFF while he stayed home with DD. I so wish we lived closer to family. :sad2: :sad2: That would mean we would have to live where it is freakin' cold though...

I think you should drag Erika, Kat, Dawn and Paula to twilight!! I will probably see it 2 or 3 more times when we go to NC for xmas...

Erika--How far did you get in the book??? Are you on the 2nd one already?? :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao:

Do I have a chance in hel! of getting that from my library? :lmao: No. Or should I rip it from someone's hands? Erika?

I actually got my copy at our local library. I went in and looked it up on the computer. They have 4 copies and it said that one was in. So I note where it is located...ugh! Young Adult Fiction in the "Teen Scene" part of the library.

I actually had to ask the librarian where the Teen Secene was. She asked what I was looking for and I said "Twilight." To which she responded that there was no way it was in. "But the computer says it is..." We walk over to the Teen Scene...no, not on the shelf. She then said, "maybe it was just returned and has not been re-shelved yet." Back to the front desk, and yes, there it is! (Totally and unbelievably dog-eared I might add. Seriously, I have never, never seen a library book in such poor shape.)

So I am checking it out and she says, "so who is this for?" And I stammer, "umm, my uh er niece..."

See the shame you have brought upon me? :rotfl2:

Amy, ditch your real life, ocme meet us. And maybe we can squeeze in a Twilight showing??? :rotfl:

AMY, totally! You have to come.

Yes, yes, but how many pages of Twilight did you read? Do you not know what it's important to track??? :lmao:

I am on page like 180. But here's the thing. I was talking with Lyz today...who suggested getting it off iTunes. Now, I love the act of reading far more than listening to a book. But tomorrow is my long run. I will CRUISE through a long run when I have really awesome audio book going. So that is what I am going to try to do tonight...get it on my iPod.

I always hated Santa in this .....and Rudolph's daddio too. Both so incredibly aloof. :lmao:

How I hate aloof.

He just hid his nose. I hate him. :lmao: You suck Donner.

Funny story. So I was raised by my hipster parents, right? First, we never believed in Santa. Never. We knew right from day one that it was just a nice fairy tale. I remember being 12 and asking my mom why we never believed in Santa as kids. Her response, "because we never wanted to lie to you." Deep.

Anyway, concering Rudolph and the story and song...my mother HATED, and I mean HATED that song. She explained to me (at age 5, mind you) that those "awful reindeer were hypocrites and not real friends at all." (I swear, I can still hear her voice and tone and word choices...) And so she had to explain to my what a hypocrite was. Cause they all hated Rudolph until Santa made it cool to like him. And I got the whole lesson about not following the pack, blah blah. So there I was, a tiny little 5 year old explaining to my teachers that the reindeer were a bunch of hypocrites.

Ok, back to work. It was supposed to be an easy night for me. But we all know how much work I got done today.

And my a$$ still hurts from the ride.

Ok, seriously, there are multiple groups of adult women out there who read this...websites and forums and all. This is so not a YA book. The main character is a teen girl, and it gets put in YA, but it is so not YA. AND I totally told you about this on the phone the other day!

Also, you can listen to it but you have to read it, too. The parts you listen to. Because the words on the page are the thing.

And, if you are going to be on IM, let me know! Just got home.

Okay, it is so not my fault you ate those chocolate chips! :lmao:

I believe it is. Just sayin'.

Haystacks:

Buy a box of regular Fiber One. It looks squiggly. It is NOT flakes. Go home. Open up box and take out one sleeve. Put sleeve on counter. Next, open up a small bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips (I only use Nestle, but that's just me). Put chips into a large bowl and melt in microwave. Take out, stir, and stir in one sleeve of Fiber One. Line cookie trays with wax paper and make teaspoon sized lumps of "cookie". Freeze or chill until hardened. I store them in a large Ziploc in the fridge.

Questions?

Everyone happy now? :lmao:

:lmao: No that covers it. I needed to know the size you make and how to store. Got it. Oh, 1 more thing. Do you know the point value?

Do you guys remember that commercial, pre-WNBA, when the bride leaves her man at the alter running down the aisle in her sneakers saying "I goin' to play in the NBA". What were you cutie? Twelve? :lmao:

I DON'T Remember! I must have been running amok in the neighborhood.

I always hated Santa in this .....and Rudolph's daddio too. Both so incredibly aloof. :lmao:

How I hate aloof.

He just hid his nose. I hate him. :lmao: You suck Donner.

I don't like this movie as an adult. It's so freaking depressing.

So I am checking it out and she says, "so who is this for?" And I stammer, "umm, my uh er niece..."

See the shame you have brought upon me? :rotfl2:

HI LAR IOUS!

 I love your mom.

So do your kids believe in Santa?

I didn't believe in Santa growing up either. We are Christians and Christmas is about Jesus. Mom and Dad just didn't put Santa into the equation. It didn't bother any of us.

Now we do have Santa at my house, because my husband thought it was necessary and I have grown to enjoy it.

Santa only brings one gift and the stockings to my children. Everthing else is my hard work and they know it. Sometimes I give Santa credit for the awesome gifts and sometimes I take it for myself.

Oh and I love that I can stop a young one in their bad little tracks by mentioning that Santa is watching.;)

Last night I went to bed early. I was exhausted. I have been so crazy this week it finally caught up with me.

Bought a tree yesterday. A fake tree. It's kinda sad, but it was time. And really, Christmas lights (espically colored ones) make me so happy I can overlook the fact it's not real.

I love the first night a tree is up. I sit in the darkened living room and feel at peace. (and squint my eyes alot). I absolutely love the Christmas season.

Tonight I have to decorate it. Bah. Dragging lots of breakables from the basement.

Nancy - are you having fun? Do you have a beautiful glow to go along with your drunken self?

Walmart didn't have Twilight! Can you believe it!

I have my fake tree up, too! Colored light and all...

(watch the purists die a little death right now)

Walmart doesn't have Twilight because they are eveeel like the deveeeeel.

Sorry, you know we have a house policy against them. Now, Target, they are all love and goodness. :lmao:

okay, off to spin class. My throat hurts and I want to read Eclipse, but I'm a fatty and have to move my butt.

Morning....I have been up and out of the house since 7:15. Gross. I had Kel's conference at 7:30. WTH was this teacher thinking?

Immediately after the conference I had to zip over to Riley's school becasue today is the Holiday Fair over there and that is a H.U.G.E. deal. Had to go be Uber Mom.

So I am just now getting home and checking in. Today is my long run. Getting ready for that right now. If I can get through it, I will feel good about going away. So there is some motivation, right?

As for Twilight on iTunes...holy crap, it was $25. So I didn't get it. I downloaded a lot of it illegally, though. But not the whole thing. So I have to see what I have and what I still need. But for today's run, it looks like the podcast will have to do. Hope it's a good one. At least the weather is perfect for my run. Just about 50*. Not too hot, not too cold.

Lyz--yes, we do Santa with the kids (not Riley anymore). This was a condition of marriage for Jeff. He insisted on Santa. But before we can even mention Santa, each child has to recite the Christmas story from Luke. But really, Santa is a pretty minimal thing around here...I don't do "Santa paper" or carrots for the reindeer and all of the other stuff. And none of the presents even say "from Santa." We just let the kids think one or two of them are from Santa.

Ok, gotta go squeeze my rolls into running tights. Good times.

And yes, Wal*Mart is evil. We boycott as well. But then again, colored lights are evil. :rotfl2:

But not Walmart evil. Just happy evil. Because colored lights don't do anything morally wrong, they just offend you more traditional types. But they're not like not sending thank you notes or anything. Which is the really offensive thing in the world, right? :rotfl:

Okay, did you know we are going to Disney tomorrow? Yep. I think I need to pack.

Hey Ladies.

I :lovestruc colored lights. My tree has blue and white this year.

I detest walmart. But I did venture in there this year to check out their fake trees and ended up getting one there. They had exactly what I wanted for 40 dollars less than everywhere else. Usually I am a target snob. I love Target's dollar bins.

It kills me to get a fake tree though. I usually pay to have one shipped from VT. with DD being all grabby though and being gone for 2 weeks this year at christmas, it was the right choice. I did buy a tree scented candle and room spray at Bath and Bodyworks yesterday though.

How do all of you handle christmas gifts in your families? If you have siblings and you all have kids, do you just buy for the kids? Do you do something amongst the adults where maybe everyone picks a name and buys for that person? Just curious.

We had Santa at our house growing up. But an equal amount of emphasis was placed on the true meaning and story of Christmas.

Liz..Just for you..Edward/Rob is telling you to hurry up and pack!!

I love Walmart. They are cheap. I am cheap. It is a match made in heaven.

And as to their evilness, they are no more evil than any large corp. Sorry, including Target. All large corps treat their employees like crap. Married to someone in retail who has worked for many of them (including Walmart), I know this first hand.

Plus, my Walmart is in a nice area, is clean, well-stocked, and, well, cheap. :)

Okay, i am off to get my *** kicked, which I will likely regret about halfway through the drive tomorrow.

I am SOOO with you Kat I Just love Wal-mart Very cheap! Since Target just opened in our area I have been there several times and I am NOT IMPRESSED! Compared to our SUPER Wally work they don't offer the food selection nor the clothing selection and I just find it BLAH! And since wal-mart is open 24 hours in our neck of the woods it is the only place that I can shop after work! And Yes I totally agree with you that ALL large corps treat their employees like crap I worked retail since I can remember and the larger corps sucked! My grandmother owned a children's clothing boutique on the south shore of boston, I worked there since I could walk and talk. She didn't believe in working your employees to the bone! THere were NO 4 am sales 9-530 M-Sat and Sundays 12 -5 and the sunday thing she didn't start till about 10 years before she closed!

So Steph and I hung the icicle lights outside yesterday! The tree will come next week. I do the real thing but am starting to lean towards the fake ones but not willing to pay $400, for one that looks real and not wanting one that looks like charlie brown TOTAL TREE SNOB!:snooty: I also do white lights! I did do colored ones last year while we were in Disney and they were cute! And yes Santa comes here! Santa brings the cool gifts! And only one or two of them.
SO go pack! Did I mention HOW JEALOUS I AM??? Green with ENVEY !!

I agree with Kat. All evil. Did you know Target makes more money off the interest of their credit cards than in the stores? (This is what I heard and I can't back it up, but I'm telling you anyway.)

I like Target more, but I live in Po'Dunk Ohio, Target is 45 minutes away. Walmart and Kmart get most of my deptartment store business.

Ohh, I got my fake tree at Lowes yesterday and it was 50% off! They have already discounted all the Christmas stuff (with exception to storage containers...).

Colored lights, soo not evil. Beautiful!!!

Amy - I don't purchase for any brothers/sisters, b/s inlaws. Just too much. We purchase for parents, grandparents and nephews.

What does "little D" think of the tree? I bet she loves it.

I really don't want to argue Walmart with you guys, on this thread, at Christmas time. But if you are interested in why, we, as a family boycott them and not every big box store, then contact me offline. It's a carefully thought out moral decision. I am honestly surprised more Christians concerned with social justice don't make the same decision.

Anyhoo, how are weight loss efforts going, gang?
