In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

Ok so I just got a cable bill still addressed to my old house and I thought that was weird because I had just gotten a bill with the right address! I log into the webpage and it says service address and it listed my old address. The old bill that I had the one with the correct address was for 2 months and the new bill was for 1 month. I call and they told me that I NEVER disconnected my service at my old house! Um I never asked to disconnect and have a new account! I just wanted to transfer my service to the new location. You know what they said "well we give you a new account for the new house." So then you don't disconnect the old one or even cancel it! I told them that the day that I got service here the service was gone at my old house! So why and I paying for a months service at the old location if it was DISCONNECTED! He said just pay both and if there is any excess then we will apply it to next months bill! I told him he was NUTS if he thought I was paying 300 for a month of cable! I didn't ask for a new account and If that is how they do things then they should be responsible to get rid of the old account! So Now he has given it to his manager to look at and they will get back to me in 24 - 48 hours with a solution! YEAH THE SOLUTION IS THAT I WON'T BE PAYING $300. Dam company! I hate having only one company to choose from or that if I didn't want them it is either dish or nothing! Oh then go to pay phone company online there is site is down for maintenance!
ANd I still haven't gotten checks or debit cards from the bank yet and I need those to pay bills.GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRR:headache: :headache: :headache:

OK Rant over I feel better for NOW!

You guys were slap happy last night. Funny stuff, Mayor of Crazy Town. I'm in, right?

OH I FORGOT! (typical ;) )

KAT - I think you've probably posted this before - not sure Lyz would let this by....but can you tell me your sausage pumpkin soup recipe???? I'd love to try it!!!

I didn't. Kat posted it for me here: 4/24/2008, 5:10 pm, post 2975, thread #1 Just sayin'.

My right foot has been killing me lately...my mother has planters faschitis (sp?) and I am going to cry if this is what I am getting...anyone know much about it? Loosing weight will obviously help it...

Hope you all have a great day and a quick question of the day....

Dawn - I had this. You will need to see a foot specialist who will make a custom shoe insert for you. I used to barely be able to walk when I got out of bed in the morning. I am at 100%.

Really? You need to ask?? :rotfl2: :lmao:

See? My point exactly. Freakshow. :lmao:

Exercise= bike, 15 miles. I had 20 planned but ran out of time as I had to be in Kel's class for my weekly volunteer time. And I would have blown it off, but she specifically said this morning that she was excited that it was my day to be in the classroom. So whaddaya gonna do? That kid is too cute to be sad, so I cut my ride short.

Temp = 18 degrees. Hella cold. And FINALLY, yesterday we FINALLY cranked the heat! We made it till Nov. 19th. But last night we couldn't take it anymore and fired up the wood stove. Thank God. You know we heat by wood, right? Now, if only we can go solar, we can go off the grid. :thumbsup2

Work = totally behind, as always.

We have a wood stove as well...need to call and get wood delivered because it is so much cheaper to heat with and I love the smellof real wood....some people say it is too messy...wood chips etc...but I love it...all of it...

How much wood do you guys usually go through in a winter? Do you have forced air blowing it throughout the house then as well? We bought this house existing and it only has 2 areas upstairs it blows out of...would like to get a few more installed if it even is possible in an existing home...

BTW...That soup recipe form Utah Mama is the same one I have except without the lower fat ingredients..instead mine calls for reg...but it is good both ways...my kids request it in fact at least 2-4 times a month...

and I use spicy sausage in mine...kicks it up a bit in flavor...bam!

OH I FORGOT! (typical ;) )

KAT - I think you've probably posted this before - not sure Lyz would let this by....but can you tell me your sausage pumpkin soup recipe???? I'd love to try it!!!

Here is the recipe:
5 cans chicken stock (I use WM brand), 50 cals
1 can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie stuff, just pumpkin), 160 cals
1 lb turkey breakfast sausage, 600 cals (in my brand anyhow)
fresh mushrooms, chopped
few stalks celery, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
Italian seasoning, salt, pepper
1/2 cup ff sour cream, 100 cals
1/2 cup ff milk, 40 cals

Brown the sausage, add the celery, onion, mushroom and cook until the veggies are the way you want them. Add to pot with chicken stock and once it starts simmering, add the pumpkin and italian seasoning, salt, pepper, to taste. Simmer for 10-15 min to let the flavors blend, take off the heat and add the sour cream and milk. My recipe makes about 14-16 cups and so I calculate it at about 65-75 cals per cup.

This last time I omitted the milk and added another can of chicken stock, which lowered the calorie count to about 55-60/cup, but it is a bit watery so I wouldn't really recommend that.

My food for yesterday:
B: Coffee
L: 1 cup chili (100)
S: 1/2 sandwich w/ half bread (150?)
D: artichoke (60), 1 tbsp light butter (50), popcorn (200), laughing cow cheese (35), 7 fiber crackers (65)
S: 1 cup light mocha almond fudge ice cream (260)

Total, 920. Exercise, none. Water, 48 oz.

I will comment more later... still somewhat swamped on this end but wanted to get food intake tracked before I forgot it all...

You will never believe what just happened to me and Baylor...

So Baylor and I were at our local grocery store...and we were in the meat/deli area...whn we heard someone making what sounded like gutteral noises behind us in the back by the bulk candy...looked backwards...saw nothing...then saw my friend Brad who is a meat man...booking to the bins behind the row we were standing in (end cap freezer/refrigerator bins they put sale items in)

He yells to me to have the Deli call Dept 65:confused3 ...deli does not know what this means...Baylor has meanwhile used his scooter to get back by Brad...comes back around and yells for me that a lady is having a seizure...:scared1:

I go running back there - yes I literally ran - and had my phone already calling 911...she had fallen into the bin and Brad was trying to prop her head up - she looked gray and ashy and was frothy at the corner's of her mouth..

I then saw her phone on her belt clip and grabbed it...handed the 911 operator to Brad...and scrolled through her recent calls...found "Mom and Dad" and called them..trying to get info for the paramedics as well as know if she is on meds etc...

The mom answers...I explain the situation...you can tell she did not have her daughters number programmed into her phone as "Angela - Daughter" because she was asking whose phone I was on etc..

She then says she is at Cub Foods as well...I say meet us in the back....she says she is there now...we describe what each other is wearing...(I am thinking they hit the store together and split up when they entered) then I ask her which Cub Foods and it turns out she was in a different city...they just happened to be shopping at same store different town at the same time...:confused3 What are the chances of that?

Anyway - waiting to hear word on her...she is 38..had been having headaches and having brain scans lately....

But this caused me to realize again...we need to make sure our parents or someone is listed as ICE (IN Case of Emergency in our phones)...mine is listed first in contacts..#1 Dan...#2 Laura (my sister) so they can be seen first...since numbers will list before letters...and those people should really have a clue about what meds you may be on or current health conditions...cause the paramedics were asking all these questions the parents did not know specifics...she had a wedding ring on but could not find a listing under Husband etc...so again...if something God forbid ever happens to you...please make sure you help someone help you..

Kids should have that as well....usually they talk to their friends more than parents...not all cell phones work the same way...and the paramedics said that they will just the green button first and try and find someone to call to help a person and the number home isn't always helpful becaus ethey want to make sure they have an adult on the other end if possible...

Anyway - scary moment - Baylor was pretty shook up - hope all of you are healthy and happy today...:grouphug:

Hey gang. Spent five hours going through all of Emily's baby stuff. 30 bags to give away, including some old clothes of mine. Found a pair of jeans from last winter - I put them on and did the Biggest Loser thing. Took a picture!

Okay, off to charity thing for Em's school. Not socialite, just run of the mill Catholic school fundraiser. (Val - At Bueno Sera) Also, Val, get back on here!

TTYL.

Wow....we are dead tonight. What gives? What am I missing? Are you all having an AIM-fest and ignoring me???? :scared1:

Hi....

Checking in and yes, the board is quiet...

Today has been an odd day. Work has just been strange in that nothing is going as planned. Not necessarily badly, just not as planned.

The good news is that my friend is home from the hospital. The test results said that his blockages were minor and could be treated with meds and lifestyle changes (no more take out for hime for a while) so no stents, no bypass. Of course, he will have to go back for ongoing monitoring, but it could have been a lot worse.

I am majorly stress eating today though. I think the stress of the week has finally caught up to me because I am exhausted and eating everything in sight. Its either that or my TOM is on its way. So I am going to watch CSI and head for bed before I eat my way through the entire kitchen. I am swimming tomorrow night as a make up for last night and going to the gym on Saturday and hopefully Sunday. I feel like a big sloth since I haven't moved in a while...

OK - have a good night everyone. (Sorry Erika - but I am going to bed... no AIM for me tonight).

Paula

Paula--I am SO glad that your friend's condition is mild. Now he can take care of what he needs to before it gets out of control and needs a higher level of intervention. A scary wake-up call, for sure.

I have some exciting news (ok, exciting for Nancy and Lisa maybe, the rest of you will just roll your eyes at me. It's ok, I am getting used to it. :rotfl2: )

I just signed up for my very first snowshoe race! I am really pumped about it. I have never done one (duh...never did any race before this year), but the kids and I snowshoe quite a bit in the winter. I have never done any snowshoeing other than just recreational stuff with the kids, though. So now I get to learn all about this new event and how to train for it, etc. And like cross-country skiing, snowshoeing is a fabulous full body work-out.

thanks... I am very relieved and yes, it was a scary wake up call for everyone... he is only 41 and is a generally healthy guy - works out, eats pretty well, etc... scary...

The snow shoe race sounds fun... I have been wanting to try snowshoeing, but have been afraid. Now I need to look into this a little more...

very cool...

off to bed...

Of course you did. Of course you are. Total freakshow.

Paula, glad your friend is ok. Scary.

Liz - I'm glad you packed up the baby clothes. I've been meaning to mention this. No babies, unless YOU want one. Emily wants a sibling:laughing:

I'm sorry, did you say 30, as in T.H.I.R.T.Y., bags?

E, one eye roll, coming up... :goodvibes

Okay, I have a gym dilemna. I belong to Planet Fitness now. It is $10/month with no commitment. However, it isn't very close. It is about a 15 min drive from either work or home, and although it is only about a 10 min detour on my way home from work... I am usually just too tired/lazy after work to go. I really prefer a lunchtime workout.

So, I started to look for one closer to work so that I could hit it for lunch. My choices are an Anytime Fitness ($35/mo) that has no classes but is new and fairly up-to-date, a Gold's Gym (?/mo but likely pricey) that has tons of classes and a pool but nothing I am really interested in, and this fly-by-night place that is in my path home and is $149/year.

Fly-by-night place is *really* outdated, but it has a few ellipticals, weight machines, free weights, and kickboxing classes at lunch twice a week. So I am really between keeping my $10/mo place and trying to get there as much as possible... or switching to fly by night place and seeing if I go there more often.

As a reference, when I am in "the zone", I usually only do the elliptical or arc trainer (and I do prefer arc and fly-by-night doesn't have one) for 30-40 min 3-4 times a week, and a weight circuit 2-3 times a week. I would substitute the 45 min kickboxing class or the hour boot camp (at night) for the elliptical.

Any advice?

Food for today:
B: Coffee
L: salad (100), 1/3 slice pizza (100)
D: 1 serving pasta (210), 1/4 cup roasted red pepper alfredo (60), 1/2 can clams (40), spinach (10), 2 8 oz glasses wine (300)
S: 7 fiber crackers (70), 1 serving ice cream (130)

Total so far, 1020. Water, 64 oz. Exercise, none. I will likely have a bit more wine, so will likely end the day around 1100. :)

I put Liz on a plan...a plan on how to decide if she wants another baby or not. She, of course, is thrilled to have a new plan. Cause it is all about the plan, right? ;)

A friend of ours recently called to tell us she was pregnant with her third (and she always told us we were crazy for having three, etc.). She left the message on our machine.

So J and I both called her back and got her machine...and we just burst into the phone laughing and shouting things like she was standing at the gates of hell, etc. OMG, it was hilarious.

Going from 1 to 2 is big, for sure. And I said the same thing...Em does not get a vote. :rotfl2: If I had to bet on this, though, I would say there will be a second one...but not for a while yet.

Kat--as for the gym...I don't care how great a gym is or how cheap it is or anything like that. None of it matters if you don't go, right? So the most important thing is to find a place where you will actually go. Like, we have an awesome place that I would LOVE LOVE LOVE and it is way cheaper than what I pay. But it is in a location that I would just never go to.

Can you try the fly-by-night place just for a month without having to pay for the whole year? I am willing to be that they will give you a free 2-week trial to see if you want to join. This is pretty common practice. So that would be where I would start...see if you can get a trial.

If that is a no-go, then if this was me, I would stay at Planet Fitness. But that is because I live in Maine and NOTHING is close or on the way and everything is a detour. 10 minutes wouldn't phase me. So I am used to that and it wouldn't make me not go.

Also, call Gold's. That is where J goes and he only pays $19/mo. They have all sorts of different packages, so you may be pleasantly surprised.

Wood is our sole source of heat in the winter. Of course, we HAVE an oil furnace, we just don't use it. So we go through a lot. 6 or 7 cord. However, if you don't already have wood on site (at your house), it is likely too late. When oil prices sky-rocketed last year, tons of people switched to other heat sources...wood, pellet stoves, even coal made a come back. This resulted in a massive shortage of cord wood. Maine is lumber country...it is one of our largest industries. And there has even been a shortage here. Not sure if the same is true for MN, but it has been all over the news how there is a shortage of fuel wood this year.

But yes, it is much cheaper than oil. But that is not our main reason for using it. (1) We have lots of friends and neighbors in the lumber industry. So heating with wood helps our local and state economies. And that is important to us. (2) When you heat with wood, you get a much more deep heat throughout your house. There are no drafts, and it is so toasty warm. The actual physical structure of the house warms up...like the floors and the walls, etc. This doesn't happen with oil. My kids are in shorts inside all winter long. (3) You don't have to worry about keeping the house at "only" a certain temp. We can get as warm as we want. And in the dead of winter in Maine, that means so much.

Downsides...it is a lot of work. Stacking, etc. is only part of it. We have a portion of the basement that is just for the wood...so once it is stacked, we then have to have a "weekly" stack where we move the wood for the coming week from the main stack to right next to the stove so that we can stoke it easily without having to constantly traipse wood all over the place. We stoke the fire once every four hours. And we have to keep the ceramic steamer that sits on top of the stove filled with water at all times for humidification, etc.

It is a lifestyle, really. You either do it or you don't. Kinda hard to do it half way.

And yes, there can be a mess that goes with it. We don't have this problem because J has a system. Natch.

Yes, we have ducting, but not much. Our house is a decent size (about 3500 sq. feet) and we really don't need much duct work. Even the upstairs gets toasty warm. I prefer not to have the fans blowing a lot, so we rarely even use what little duct work there is. But to answer your question, yes, you can add duct work to an existing house without much hassle.

Morning....:scared1: Yup that's right...:scared1:

Been up since about 3:30 a.m. and just posting now... - have a Holiday Sale this weekend and need to set up - I do one every year - and was glad to get it in before Thanksgiving...

E - Thanks for the info on the wood - I love the heat factor as well - usually have gone through 2-3 cords a winter - have not heard much about the wood shortage here - so I need to get hunting for it now...today - and will let you know....

Paula - glad your friend is okay - you will be a great resource for him as he begins to look at his weight differently...and now you both will be on the same page when you two are together...supporting each other not sabbatoging ya know... :)

Liz - new baby maybe...??? :woohoo: Or not is okay too...look at the lifestyle you want and you will know what is good for you...myself...I wanted a dozen but my body is a no go...and I am glad I had my kids with Chad - love them and would not change anything - but he was not thrilled with becoming a Dad 3 times at all...until they got here...so going through another pregnancy with no support would not have been fun...how does your hubbster feel about the whole thing...I think as a woman it is hard to know that that part of your life is gone...another milestone ya know...

Okay - That is about it....started the pouch test today...will let ya know how it goes...liquid for the first 2 days...soup and more soup....:thumbsup2

Oh yeah - E - you always look at new ways to challenge your body and not get bored with excersize - I hope to take on that view this next year...really is awesome...I want pics of you all cute in the snow! Winning a race against yourself!:worship:
