Catching up....
Erika, Kat, Lisa - I am coming down with a cold too. Oh, my this sucks. SUCKS. And I get my period (can't we just say this? It's too hard to verbage TOM for me sometimes) this week, which I know because I am on the beloved, life saving BCP. Thank you, Maragaret Sanger. God Bless you.
Stacy - loved your post - the ice cream cracked me up - and loved that you are jazzed about a new direction! Whoo-hoo!
Kat - good going! Baby steps! Every day of our lives, baby steps.
Lyz - Um, I am blanking on what you are up to. Did you tell us?
Sarah - ROCK ON! 180's!!!
Nancy - aww, thank you. I feel good about it. It's this week, going down this week, that is going to prove it to me. Kwim?
I went to a family party yesterday (Nick's, as my fam in in IL and not NJ/PA). It was for Cabi clothes, which are beautiful and lovely and priced just like that. Really, they are nice pieces that last a long time and look great, very signature pieces, and I've only ever been able to buy a jacket in a size 16 and that was two years ago and only because they size up a bit.
So I walked in and there was much gushing - they haven't seen me since May and I guess I just look different. The consultant is a nice lady and I know her fairly well from these trunk shows (she brings every piece of clothing in the line and you try it all on - so cool) and she was very flattering. She has always made me model, because I can wear the long coats well. So anyway, I played dress-up with my husband's mom, aunt, and cousin's wife.
I bought a beautiful silk shirt that is long and flowing and that I will wear with jeans, belted on the outside, or dressed up with a nice pair of pants. And a sweater that is flowy but cinched at that waist and sort of like a poncho in how it goes over your head. It feels like wearing a big blanket, so cozy, but looks fashionable. I am still thinking about this very pretty wool jacket that fit perfectly.
And then we went to his aunt's and had dinner and cake and all this food, and I just ate when I was hungry and didn't when I wasn't. I had to walk away from the spinach dip a few times, but while everyone was eating dinner, I just fixed a plate and quietly put it aside, because I was enjoying my wine and not hungry yet. Then I ate the cake, and waited until I was hungry and ate my dinner. It worked. I totally ate less because I wasn't shoving it in, and the cake was worth eating. We were there for ages, so I had plenty of time to space. Also, i brought a veggie tray to the Cabi party so I wouldn't eat the chips, and it worked! I ate tons of veggies all afternoon instead of chips.
I am focusing on lifetime stuff here, so it was a good day to try out a new way!
