In Search of my Body...Not The One I ate...#3 "Crowning Goddesses As We Go"

CHALLENGE--No, I do not need your starting weight. Just know what you are and then when we have our first weigh-in, I will record your loss. Since Oct. 15 is a Weds., that will be our weigh-in day. So your weight as of yesterday. And if you didn't weigh in yesterday, than do it today. mm-kay?
Ok put me down for 5... I guess!!!!:scared:

Shouldn't be allowed? I did it to myself.;) So I have no one to blame but myself.

Ok you are right. But that burns me up, cause kids are probably working there and have unlimited access to pop and they are not equiped to make those decisions. Heck, even as adults, we don't stop when we should.

The weight is just a number. Numbers can be funny, right? :lmao:

That number is so &*(& important to me.

So, the scale said happy things to me today... I am down almost 10 lbs in the last 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, though, that means the challenge will be extra hard.

Yaay. True.

If it isn't hard its probably not worth doing!

Ohh Munky, getting all deep on us.

WOW--you all have been chatty for the past couple of hours!

So Sharing went well. It was very cute. They are all 6 years old...and at that age they still don't have filters on what they say. So after Kelly and I talked about the National Kidney Foundation and why I run it was time for "Questions and Comments." Well, one little girl raised her hand and said "My mom says that she's too old to run."

On the one hand it was cute. On the other hand...sad. I am not being at all judgmental of this mom. How many times have I said something similar to one of my kids? But mostly it made me thrilled that I AM the kind of mom who is active enough to go outside with my kids and play soccer or pitch the baseball to them or go for a hike.

I am glad you are that kind of mom too. I'd like to be that kind of mom, sometimes. lol.

Lyz--8??? HOMG. Wow. Massively impressed. Lots to say, but still biting my tongue. And a bike ride in the same day. It's killing me to not go carnival ape crazy (in a good way). :lmao: ?

I knew you'd love it.

I'm still getting my 8 hours a night just not consecutively... LOL... to me he is part of me and therefore its important to ME to have time with him...

Awww, that's cause you are still newlyweds.

Ok put me down for 5... I guess!!!!:scared:

Steph, this :scared: cracked me up.

Ok there is a very real danger that I might not be able to walk tomorrow.:) I rode my bike 5 miles today. I don't know how E and Nancy ride for like 20 miles. I rode on the floodwall/bike path, then rode thru town to my parents for lunch. And then rode back to the office. I am pooped. Pooped I tell you.

I am glad things seem to be on the mend. She loves you in her own special way. And Yes, WTH with the ice cream? These parents, I tell you!

Ice cream she brought from work.. she brought three pints to the hospital. One for me one for the lady who draws her blood..(not me) and one for the girl who registers her. She admitted that it wasn't the best thing for me since we are doing WW and all together, but she thought I would like to have a taste of it!
Ben & Jerry's when you work for the factory you are allowed to bring home three pints a day... FREE . My mom used to bring it home everyday. She counted it as part of her pay! you figure B&J ice cream goes for about 3.99 a pint x that by three that is 12 dollars a day. Now she leaves it there. Brings it home when she needs to! They used to be a good company to work for but now a BIG corporation has taken them over so it is going down hill!

I guess so. Didn't realize you had been together for 3 years.

Steph, wow really pulling out the bling! Thanks.

I didn't realize your mom worked at Ben & Jerry's. My husband LOVES ice cream. Loves it. I buy B&J all the time. He'll probably love the pumpkin. (I don't like ice cream much. Only if I am in a theme park and walking.) That is very neat.

Prolly cuz we are so young... LOL... no one really thinks that we've been together that long... We got married when I was 21 and he was 22... Hell we've already almost gotten divorced... Had more money problems than I can count, and lots of stuff... feels like we've been married for years and years... lol

EriKa - Mom of the Year! I love it. So sad that there's more of us out there who think we can't do things. That is right up ther with world peace on my wishlist - fearless for the fearful.

Lyz - My, my, it's getting dark over there in O-HI-O. Turning into a dark side one!!!

Nancy - I am so sorry it is crazied for you. I will breathe for you!

Steph - HOMG, I would have to never see my mom again, because I am addicted to that stuff! B&J's is the bomb!

Sarah - you ARE still newlyweds! 3 years! But I understand what you are saying.

Paula - it is SO your job to be deep. BTW, I was jean shopping yesterday and totally channeling you, trying to fit the largest part of my body and just get stuff tailored. :goodvibes

Kat - you are going to lap me! Have you already??? I am 166.

Gang, i need to drop these 7lbs and NOT gain. It's tough, I am struggling. And I need a workout for Tuesdays and Thursdays when I have Em with me and the classes at the gym suck. Like at home-dreadmill or SOMETHING. Ideas? I have the desire, but I need it to be fun.

Hmm...I tore out a dreadmill workout (Fitness magazine) that I do sometimes. There is alot of 2 minutes at this speed and then 2 minutes at this speed and this incline. I liked it because it varied so much the walk went faster. I will type it up for you when I get home.

Do you have on demand fitness?

Paula- It is your job to be deep... just trying it on... lol...

I am so set to work out tonight just need to figure out which workout mix to listen to... :)

I'm loving two of my recent new ones Liz.

One is Jillian Micheals 30 day shred. I love it b/c it's intense but short. But you might only firm up more and not lose on those funny numbers.

I also love Billy Blanks Amped series. Most of the workouts are long - 45-hour. And it has an adjustable positioning 4 pound bar with it. Four or five workouts included. I got the series for 29.99 but I think that was a sale.

I find both empowering because they are intense. I like that. Hard and intense.

:lmao: :rotfl: Oh boy. I'll keep that innocent comment in. ;)

Also, do you have a treadmill at home? I think I'm reading you do.

I make my own intervals. They go something like this. No stopping in between at all. Hour or half an hour depending on my day.

Warm up 5 minutes machine (ie treadmill/elliptical/bke)
short stretch
3 minutes cardio machine as hard as I can'
series of weights (two exercises) or pilates moves or body weight moves like push ups etc.
3 minutes of cardio machine as hard as I can
another weight/body/pilates series
3 minutes of cardio machine as hard as I can

and so on and so on and so on until desired time......

Sometimes I do kicks series instead of machines for 3 minute cardio part.

Anyway, this kind of series is so effective that I lose all the time. Instantly. However, for me I've got to watch it. It's weird and frustrating. Because I'm doing so much mental work - issues working on too - my body can go into tension instead of relaxation following a workout like that.

And I strongly feel that intense intervals should be every other day with some kind of gentle fitness - straight TM for example in between.

Also, I've gone back to a very weird series called "Classical Stretch". It's hard to explain. It's like stretching, pilates, ballet and it seems like nothing until you're sweating. She used to be or is still on PBS. Annoying little former Canadian ballerina. Miranda Esmonde White?????

I do a six day exercise blend and two days off. Then a new six day routine and two days off. I strongly believe in rest days. I don't know why I'm telling you that swan necked waist girl. Like you need advice straight A student successful girl. So many names so little time.

God - did you want a novel. Probably not!!!!! :surfweb: :rotfl: :lmao:

Wow Lisa, you really hit the exercise serious. You need to post that daily. I want to hear what you accomplished.

Oh no Lyz. If I post how much I exercise then you'd all know how much food I obviously ingest. :lmao: :rotfl: Or I wouldn't be here!

Oh how I LOVE food. :lovestruc Cooking right now. Or what I call cooking. Yum. Yum. Yum.

Paula- It is your job to be deep... just trying it on... lol...

I am so set to work out tonight just need to figure out which workout mix to listen to... :)

Sarah - I am happy to share the deep role with you.... I am doing my functional strength class tonight... 45 minuts of squats and lunges... oy... what was I thinking....

Lisa - I'm tired just reading about your exercise plans.... :rotfl2: I am a ways from that level of committment...

Talk to you all on the flip side,
Paula

LOL! You can do it Paula!!! Keep up the exercise... I don't want to have to turn into a drill instructor for both of us... LOL...

Lyz, I'd love to see the workout.

Lisa, yes I have a treadmill. I hate it. It's old. That's why I pay monthly for the gym - that and classes are great for me. I adore you but your workout scares me. Let me explain. I am a wuss. Ask Erika, she has not been able to convert me to hardcore yet. Jillian would make me cry if she even looked at me.

I do real workouts on Monday and Friday, something on either Saturday or Sunday, Wed off, and I need some nice, simple, interesting thing to do Tuesday and Thursday mornings that doesn't require me to leave my house and takes no more than 30 mins. Because those are my mom days or they are pinch hitting work days, and my time is limited and I get bored easily and want to get on with my day. Does this make sense?

You are SO right about the 6 day schedule. I have a fitness freak friend who has loaned me books and they all say that. I know I need a real schedule eventually, but right now my wuss-*** schedule is all I can do. BABY steps! Yes, I basically lost 71lbs sitting on my bum. It's true. And I hate new things. So you can see why even two major gym days plus a weekend workout is like HUGE for me.

The gym worked on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer, but it's not working now. Such is our schedule, Em and I.

HELP.

Lyz - Woo Hoo on the 5 mile bike ride!

Steph - Great job on the 3-miler!

Paula - so, how was functional strength?

I did too - went out for a 5-mile bike ride of my own after putting Kaitlyn to an early bedtime. Good thing, because it's too dark to ride now (at 7:30...) It does get easier - I've gone from 3 miles killing me to 5 miles killing me to a 10 mile ride last weekend. Bike riding's my favorite cardio. Just take some time to rest your legs. The wind and going fast works for me - I don't think about how hot and sweaty I am.

Liz - if you lost all that weight by sitting on your butt, I'm sure you can find something that works for a couple of interesting mornings. You could ...enlist Emily - child lifts, sit-ups to touch noses. ...check what's on-demand from your cable company. ...get a mini-trampoline and figure out a rebounding excercise plan. ...do pilates or yoga ...buy a WII and WIIFit (not that I've got one).

I'm feeling very self-satisfied right now. I did C25K this morning, had someone notice at work that I've lost weight (Shout out to Carolina!), didn't hit the vending machines at all, and went for a ride this evening. I even got 8 glasses of 'liquid' in! (6 water, none (yet) alcohol!)
