In Room Celebrations ???

I honestly don't even think the cost is that crazy. The package I inquired about has 22 gifts! That is a ton of stuff. And you get a decorated room. We are doing this for our son who has autism instead of a birthday party, he never had any kids show up when we tried...anyways we probably spent 200 or 300 to have a birthday party for our youngest last year at a local play place. On top of all that it saves me a ton of time while on vacation; and IMO vacation time is more valuable than any other time.

Off topic I know, but this (see above) makes me tear up a little. People suck (for this, and many other reasons).

Honestly? I thought the same thing!! I mean I could easily spend the same amount on a birthday party as I did on the inroom and THEN the presents!! :)

As for how to set this up?

I didn't ask about the Christmas ones but I think they've done them in the past

When my family went in 2003/2004 for our 20th Wedding anniversary, we spent Christmas at DLR (first time away from home). We stayed at DLH concierge (sp??) for 10 days not including travel days.

I had the dream makers deliver little gifts every day and on Christmas, they decorated a little tree (that we got to take it home - they left the box that it came in) and had gifts under the tree.

This time when we go in Dec. 2013 for our 30th anniversary we are staying for 9 days in the parks not including travel days. I am planning on getting the pirate booty for my DH and DS as they are pirate buddies and I want to do something for my DH and mine anniversary on 12/29.

Add me to the list of people who are impressed with these photos and itching to do this, despite the outrageous cost. Guess I just need to find an occasion that would be worth it because I think my son, 5, would be floored by this touch of magic. Anyone else posting pictures, I'd love to see if they are all as immersive as the two in this thread.

How about "just because" and have a special memory for your son and yourself.

i know how it feels to not have any one show up for sons bday. we have two friends with kids who come but last year we invited my son's whole class and only one came. My son was wondering why no one else came did they hate him or what. its one reason im doing dl this year and then just invite the 2 friends and kids who come always and ill take some cupcakes to the school because that way my son still has good bday this year its just with us and in dl lol

i know thats off topic but had to share

I'm not sure they have a Pirate themed gift at this time, I would call to make sure though. (When I called earlier this month, this wasn't in the options given to me.)

What is the cost of the Halloween basket or decorations? Also, do they have any inexpensive gift baskets? I want to do something special for my mom to thank her for taking me, but I am a teen so I am pretty much broke :rolleyes2

Has anyone done the Welcome in room celebration? How does it work for the day/ night that you are checking in? We will be at the GCH and probably checking in around 630ish pm. My DH has asked for something welcoming us. The last time we went they moved our room because we had asked for a day bed room but they weren't available and I had requested a room near the elevator and upon check in asked again. They moved our room from one side of the hotel to the other side. So how would this work with an in room celebration on the day of arrival. I would be willing to distract my family for awhile if need be.

We are doing the welcome celebration with an extra set of ears and some estra cars and toy story merch its about 412 total... they told us after 3 it will be ready for us (Balloons, plushes and other extra's)But we are checking in early and doing a pool day till the room is ready. they said they give us a key then text us a room number once it is ready to enter :) I am so excited! they have to set up the room celebration ahead of time so I would call a day before if you have special sleeping accommodations. I am sure if you have a celebration ordered they can have it ready to set up a day or two before

We are doing this for our son who has autism instead of a birthday party, he never had any kids show up when we tried.

This sucks!!! I have two kids with sp needs. This is the reason I ALWAYS do the party at school. The kids are all there and don't need to rely on their parents to bring them. It is for the kids anyway. The kids and teachers have always loved it. I always do lunch. A few times we did bowling, etc. I think the one they love the most are the ones in the classroom. I have done everything from Barney visiting to pinates, etc. My kids love it. I started out with a class that had 10 kids and am now doing it with a class of 45 pluss staff -thankfully everyone loves pasta!

Have a wonderful trip. Part of the reason I LOVE Disney so much is that they help us make it easy and the staff are always so nice to my girls. Be sure to get a GAC. We always do, even if we are having a good day and don't need to use it. Better safe then sorry!

That is so nice of you.

You can always make your own basket and she will love it more because you not only thought of doing it for her but you put it together yourself (can you tell I am a mom!!??). You can suprise her by going back to the room after the two of you leave and put it out so it is sitting there when she gets back.
