We are heading out in 10 days.

I have everything ready. :earseek:

Do the resorts have a policy on candles burning in the rooms? I hate the way rooms smell and like to burn candles to relax.

dvc resorts don't - I think in the WDW resorts you need to be careful and make sure it doesn't set off the fire alarms?????

I love my candlelite bath..... ;)

I've used candles in the DVC units, I burn mini jars in the kitchen sink, only when I'm there and not asleep. I figure in the sink it's about as safe as it gets, and if for some reason it starts to burn widly out of control you turn on the water...

That has to be a huge fire hazard so I imagine the official policy is "no candles". I don't know this for a fact, but that would be my guess, since if a candle caught fire its not just your stuff going up, its potentially those people next to, below, above, and across the hall from you.

No more so than people who smoke cigarettes. My guess is that in hotels, cigarettes cause more fires than candles by a significant percentage.

The key with anything is neer have it near the bed or curtains or hanging towels, or anything else combustible. Best bet is to burn it in the sink. Never leave the room or fall asleep with the candle lit.

I have packed a couple of Renuizit air fresheners.....probably safer and less work.

I leave a Yankee Candle in my luggage and an Aveda travel candle in my make-up case so I never forget one when I travel. I am sure Mousekeeping has seen the candles before and no one has ever mentioned that I shouldn't have them. :flower:

WDW resorts are better constructed than that.

Unless there is a connecting door to your room - then the fire would just be in you room.

the doors are so heavy because they are fire proof (fire breakers)

I would be more afraid of setting off the springers in the ceiling.

I don't know how hot it has to get before those things go off.

so I kept mind in the bathroom on the floor or in the tub with me.

If there is a coffee maker I will brew a pot, I hate the way it taste but love the way it smells. I also always take a can of Lysol spray with me to spray the room down.

Those little pug in air fresheners are a great way to have a nice smelling room and no worries about forgetting to put out the candle. And the best part is when you open the door to the room it will smell nice all the time.

I think it would be a fire hazard especially with kids around. However anything that is misused could potentially be harmful to everyone. I would use them either on the sink or on the tile floor of the bathroom where the surface couldn't burn if accidently knocked over.

Our last trip I brought one of those Yankee Candle's that are in a tin. There about 4oz size, and have a lid. It made the room smell really nice and I could cover it when not in use.

We've used them when we've had rooms with jacuzzi tubs. Mousekeeping even had them arranged for us in the garden suites at BW when we were there for our engagement and wedding.
