In-room babysitter?

Has anyone used the in-room babysitters that Disney offers? I would very much like to utilize it for one night after our 2-year-old goes to sleep so my husband and I could have a couple of hours to ourselves in the pool and hot tub at our resort (BC), but my husband is wary of a complete stranger watching our daughter. I think Disney is the best place to do it, I'm sure they background check everyone, but a stranger is a stranger, you know? So I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience they'd care to share?

I'm with your husband. I'm sure lots of people have good experiences but like you said- a stranger is a stranger. I also don't trust sites like care.com.

A few years ago we used Kid's Nite Out for our then 18 month old son. It was great! He was only up for about an hour after we left and then she put him down to bed. They do have a minimum number of hours that you need to book and you need to pay for their parking. But honestly, it was the most relaxing night of our vacation (especially given my son's age at the time). we're contemplating using them again for our trip in August, but not sure with the expense for 3.

We are planning to use it for our overnight trip with our 2, nearly 3 year old when we go this coming January. My son is typically asleep by 6:30 or 7 especially if there's a lot of excitement and we want him to be well rested that night so he can have a good full day the following day but we want to be able to go out to Epcot, have a nice dinner and maybe go on a few rides that night all without having to worry or interrupting our son's schedule.

We've used sitter services before so I'm pretty comfortable with them, and especially at a place like Disney I'm confident that they are thorough about CORRI checks and such.

2 trips ago we used Kids Nite Out with our ODD, and since then, "date night" (or two) has been a MUST for every WDW trip! They are great. There is a 4 hour minimum and each additional kid is only $3/hr more. Definitely recommend.

Good to know about the minimum hours, that's not mentioned on Disney's site, but it did mention the $10 "transportation" fee, which makes sense is for parking. Thanks!

That's what I would think, since the service is advertised on Disney's own website, they must be confident that the service is good! I'm hopeful my husband will relent so we can try it out too.

Sounds wonderful, good to know about the minimum! Thanks!

I would like to have a date night when we go to, but my husband is hesitant too. He doesn't even want to put them in daycare, meaning he will be keeping a 1year old and newborn after working 12 hour overnight shifts when I go back to work. But oddly enough, he said he would be okay leaving them in the room with a babysitter as long as we stayed at or near the resort and went out while the 5 year old is still awake and can watch out for the babies and tell us everything. Unfortunately we're staying at AoA, and there's no point in having a date night there.

Aw, yeah, that stinks. The website says the babysitters are available for daytime and in the parks too... Maybe you could get one to tag along in a park with you so you guys could ride some rides but then you wouldn't be leaving your kids completely alone either. That's something we're considering too, now that I know about the four hour minimum.

We are using them next month on our trip. It'll be mine and my husband's 10 year anniversary, and we both truly want an adult night out. That being said, I've never left my 2 year old with anyone but family. However, I have heard good reviews on KNO, and I also plan on bringing our Nest camera because I'm that mom. ::yes:: If you do plan on having them with you in the parks, be aware that you need to pay for their park ticket as well as the hourly rate + transportation fee.
