I'm thinking we may need a stroller option for my 5 year old. Is in-park rental that bad? I was thinking maybe we could just rent as we need. I have rented from kingdom strollers once before and it was great. I guess I just wanted more opinions of in the park rentals with an older child. TIA

If you want one you need ot get there EARLY to get a good one - I had a wheelchair that the wheels broke becuae it was in such bad shape

I would go wit an off-site rental and have it delievered to your resort just to be on the safe side

Took my niece at five. No stroller, no problems. Pace the day appropriately, and you won't need one.

If you think you'll need a stroller more than half the time in the parks, I'd either bring one or rent one. Or order a lightweight, inexpensive one from amazon and have it shipped to the resort - I did that one year and it was BRILLIANT! With amazon prime, I didn't pay shipping fees, the stroller was waiting for me when I got there, and I figured I would either take the stroller home with me or leave it on our last day without feeling bad about it. Cheaper than rental. (I wound up taking it home, for what it's worth.)

I just checked one of the stroller sites, and for 6 nights it was like $400. Is that even correct? That is super pricey! @imthemamahere what did you buy? She is 50lbs and 44 inches.

Wow. That seems high, we rented one 3 or 4 years ago and got a double one and it was less than $100, and that was for 6 or 7 days. I rented from Kingdom stroller and just checked and the prices were not that high. Check out their site.

We rented from Kingdom Strollers for a week and it was about the same cost as renting a double from Disney for two days. Plus we got to take it out of the park. At 5, we always bring a stroller - it is miserable for them to hold their arm above their head all day while holding hands and a stroller gives them a great place to sit for breaks/snacks/parades. We've never had a meltdown in Disney and I give a large part of the credit to having a stroller until they outgrew it.

I did it a few years ago, so the one I bought isn't available anymore. (It was an older model that was on serious discount because the newer model was out.) A quick look at amazon, searching for "lightweight umbrella stroller" shows a bunch of choices under $100, not so many under $50. Most strollers have a suggested weight limit around 50lbs, but a few have lighter limits - just make sure whatever you choose goes up to 50lbs. :)

Thank you all. She is an independent 5 year old, but I know she will be tired on the long park days. Checked Kingdom strollers and the price was MUCH better! Thanks again!

We love Kingdom Strollers! We'll rent from there for our 4-year-old this October. My understanding is that the in-park strollers have very little storage, and I partly use a stroller to schlep our stuff around!

The park strollers aren't bad but you don't have the recline option if you need it. I think, like others have said, Kingdom Strollers are a good choice. With our upcoming trip, I purchased a stroller (I think it was a Summer Infant) that was very similar in design to my Uppa Baby stroller so that if something happens to it, I won't get upset (I'm very partial to my Uppa Baby). I did purchase a Buggy Guard though just to have. Nonetheless, my opinion is either rent one from Kingdom Strollers or the like or purchase or take an umbrella stroller that is comfortable yet easy and functional. Ones with a shoulder strap are nice to have. Good luck!

Seems cheaper, if you're going to rent, to rent from one of the outside companies rather than the parks. Renting from the outside, you also don't have to return it every day. Also more comfortable for the kids.

I would order one from Amazon - "Dream on me - Voyager" $47 with free shipping, it holds a child up to 55lbs. Take it into the park, and park it in a reasonably central "Stroller Parking" location where you can go back and grab it when you need it.

I rented from elsewhere I think it was called kingdom strollers? I could be wrong but it was something like that and on the day we left we got all the way to the airport and almost s@#t our pants realizing we forgot our stroller! Not only did we get one last minute but by the time we got to the hotel it was already there! We rented a really comfy stroller it was probably more comfy than the one we owned. I think it was maybe 60$ for the week. The disney ones are very uncomfortable.

I will definitely be renting the double for our 3 & 6 year olds. The 6 year old will probably only want to be in it because of the 3 year old, but that's ok. Kingdom is cheaper than the park rentals. I'm not looking forward to dragging it on the buses, but our Little Mermaid rooms will be a far walk at the end of the night to carry sleeping kids.
