How far away/how long to go from Wilderness Lodge to the Chip n Dale Campfire/singalong/movie at Ft Wilderness?

Considering having dinner at Whispering Canyon at the Lodge and then heading over to the campfire for Smores Dessert and a movie, but trying to figure out how long to drive between the two so I can time the ADR for Whispering Canyon.

Thank you!

Don't have a map, but if you drive from WL to FW you will have to park in the lot at the entrance to FW and use the internal bus to get to the campfire. Might be better (and more fun) to leave your car at WL and use the boat to/from FW. Unless it's a very busy time, leaving your car at WL shouldn't be a problem while you head off to the campfire.

Thanks! Is the boat accessible? I will have someone with a scooter in the group (which is why we're renting a car).

Figure it will take you 90-120 minutes to get from WL to the Campfire.
That's if you drive (and you should drive,) park at FtW and take the internal FtW bus (which is accessible.)

90-120 minutes?? That seems crazy. Aren't they right next to one another? Confused.

According to Allears.net the Blue Flag launch that stops at both WL and FtW is not ECV accessible. You have to step down into boat. You can bring a wheelchair (has to fold).

That's why I quoted the extra-long time to make the trip.

If there is an ECV involved, you cant take the boats from/to WL and the ECV has to be loaded and unloaded multiple times with the car and the buses.

And, the trip inside FtW to the Meadow bus stop (once loaded aboard the Internal bus) from the FtW parking lot takes awhile.
Then there's the walk and/or ECV trip from the Meadow bus stop...
over to the actual campfire area.

It would also be a long trip, time-wise, even if you COULD take one of the boats.
You'd have to bus from Settlement area (where the boat dock is located) to the Meadow stop
(where the Campfire is located.)

It's not a simple trip.

@Robo thanks. I wasn't doubting you, as I've never done it, but it just sounds overly arduous for places that can't be more than 5 miles from one another and it astounded me. Best of luck to the OP.

Such a thing of beauty, one of Robo's maps! Thank you.

So is it easier/less time to go from MK or somewhere else. Like grecorj, I thought since we were already nearby it would be a perfect time to go....but if the complication in getting there is due to our start location, is there a better place to start? 2 hours to go and watch a 2 hour movie does seem a little crazy....might be why I've not read much about this activity, too difficult to attend?

Thanks again Robo, really appreciate your wonderful maps. I too would love to see a central place to find them....I'd probably spend as much time there as I do here, lol.

Wowsers. Robo, is there a central place we can find all of your maps?

A. Well, you CAN board the boat to/from FtW with an ECV at the MK dock. (Likewise, the FtW dock.)
But, you would still need to get from the FtW boat dock (at Settlement area, CU map below) to the the Settlement bus stop, board the bus and ride to Meadow area, exit the bus, and go from the bus stop over to the Campfire venue. And, there's the trip to/from MK and wherever you park.

B. I'm just offering "120 minutes" as as worst-case thing.
You could likely make it from WL to Campfire in under 90 minutes, maybe less.
But, we all know the disappointment of encountering a delay along the route and missing (at least the first parts of) what we intend to do.

From the MK dock, you could shave another 15 minutes from your travel time, but again, who knows exactly WHAT might happen.

Thanks for the kind words about my maps.
I intend to get something put together, but it's still in the works.
