Hi all!

We have a big WDW trip coming up the first week of February. During that trip, there will be exactly ONE night that our entire group of 8 would be able to do a Grand Gathering. Problem is, I'm not sure where to start researching. I figured you guys were the best place to start. :-)

What was the best Grand Gathering you took part in? Anyone have one they went on that they didn't feel was worth the money? (And they ain't cheap! $65 for adults?! Holy Smokes!) For Grand Gatherings that take place on boats, what happens in inclement weather?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I would really love to make this a special night. There might even be a proposal in our group that night! Eeeek! (Not mine, but I can live vicariously . . .) :-)

We did the fireworks cruise. It really wasn't worth the money. From what I understand they aren't offering as an exclusive Grand Gathering event as of some time next year. Before hand we all met at the Contemporary and were given special pins and had snacks, and I mean bags of Sun Chips, prepackaged cookies and brownies. So not worth the price. The cruise was cute with a pirate doing trivia and seeing the ELP and of course Wishes.

If we had to do it again, I would have booked our own persoanl pontoon, which they will decorate and have snacks. you'll still get to see the ELP and the fireworks and the price works out to be about the same, depending on how many are going.

For inclement weather it could be cancelled. They have blankets if it's cold. I would just check the cancellation policy.

I do have to say, seeing the fireworks from the water was amazing!!!! Not sure of the timing, but it might be fun, we did this, have dinner together at Chef Mickey's before, than you just have to walk downstairs and out to the marina. It really was a memorable night, just not worth the money the way we did it.

We also did the fireworks cruise. And I agree it wasn't worth the money paid. just a boat ride to see the fireworks. The guy entertaining was nice. But just wasnt worth it to me.....

We did the Safari Dinner. It was cool too. The kids liked it. The safari is late in the day so most of the animals are in their hidding spots for the night so you dont really get to see many animals. The dinner at Tusker House was very different. It was good, somethings i have never had before.

If I had another choice, Id do the Illuminations fireworks and dessert reception. Never done it but would really like too!!!
