My family (myself, DH, DS and DD) had our last WDW vacation June 2010. During our stay my MIL was diagnosed with cancer, my MIL passed away September 2010. My mother was diagnosed with cancer March 2011 and passed away April 2011. Needless to say this has been a rough year for my family.

Our next planned visit to WDW was not supposed to be until summer 2012, but we need some extra joy and happiness in our lives. We decided to sacrifice and move our trip to December 2011.

We arrive 12/17/11 and DH birthday is 12/18/11. Are there any local bakers or pastry shops that deliver to WDW resorts?
We're staying at POP but I don't want a POP birthday cake.

Nothing too expensive...we're on a budget.

When we celebrated my 2 year olds first birthday I had a few groceries delivered from we go shop.
As for :cool1:the service...for a flat rate they will deliver groceries from a local grocery store at the STORE PRICES...no up charges. Just the flat rate for shopping and delivery. I ordered a birthday cake from Publix....which are quite good! They have a good website for ordering....

Agree that PUBLIX has DELICIOUS birthday cakes!! A very nice selection and not very expensive. Enjoy the Holiday time at WDW!! It is simly MAGICAL!! Your DH and I share the same BIRTHdate :). Joan

You may also consider going to the BW bakery and getting 4 Mickey cakes. They use to be under 3.00 like 2.69 each do not know the current price...

Sorry about all your losses!

If you're on a budget then don't even bother to call the Disney cake line. While they are gorgeous, delicious, creative cakes, you will have sticker shock. A fairly basic cake that would sell locally here for $60 is $150 through Disney. I've had friends that ordered cakes upwards of $200 from Disney. For a cake!

I'm not sure if any local bakers are allowed to deliver onsite or not...but if you can get to a local grocery store (some mentioned Publix) or can get that delivered, I'd go that route.

Also Boardwalk Bakery does have cakes on display to purchase on the spot. We got a small one for $20 that served about 6-8 people.

Your cheapest option is as stated above, get the individual Mickey cakes!

You have been through alot this year and definitely deserve a special treat. DH and I went to WDW shortly after my mom passed away in 2008 and it really did alot of good, I cried alot because it had only been a month and we met some really kind CM's that made me feel so special. My heart goes out to you.

I agree, go to the Boardwalk Bakery, the small Mickey face cakes are pretty decent and I think they were $3.99 or something like that, but you would probably need 2, they were small, but not that small. DH and I shared it and there was enough for more than one serving each, but we aren't big cake eaters.

Another option is the new bakery at DTD, from what I understand it is in the Pollo Campero restaurant or right next to it, I think it is called Baby Cakes.

We are going to be at WDW to Celebrate our 10th Anniversary and I think we will go to the Bakery at the French Pavilion in Epcot and get a box of different treats to share, since we aren't huge cake fans.
