I thought I remember reading on here that kids can go through some type of drawing class where they receive a certificate at the end. Anyone know? :confused3

I think you are referring to "The Magic of Disney Animation." First you watch a little show with a live artist who "interacts" with Mushu, the dragon from Mulan, talking to him about the different stages of his character development. Then you move into another room where you can sit at an artist's table and be taught by a Disney animator about how to draw a character (we drew Donald). Our little artist loved this. And our younger dd was cracking up because Chicken Little sat in on the class and drew a picture. :rotfl:

Sounds cool. We are going in the morning so I will have to try this. Thanks for the info.

They don't get a certificate but they can do the class without watching the first show, its great for the art lovers. My 11yo DD loves to do cartoon drawing and we discovered this on our last day of the trip last time. There are 10min classes starting every 30mins but I think it has different hours then the park. They do a different character each time, my DD did 3 classes since that is all we had time for but is looking forward to spending more time there on our next trip.

DisneyQuest at DTD had similar classes where you could buy a printout of your drawing and get a certificate - maybe this is what you were thinking about? :confused3

I know about he DQ one, but where do we find the other? Is it in MGM? Or was this already mentioned? I'll go back and re-read.
Sounds like fun!

At MGM, it is called Animation Academy and it is located toward the exit of the Magic of Disney Animation if you dont want to see that first. And its not only for little ones, last time we went there were just as many teens/adults as kids. My fiance and I enjoy it, were in our 20s and weve been three times-weve drawn Donald Duck, Winnie the Pooh, and Stitch. Unfortunately, the class is only 8-10 minutes, so the artist does go rather quickly and doesnt have the time to stop and go back if you miss something, so you have to pay attention. And you can keep your drawing at the end-if youre able to follow all the directions, the pictures do look pretty accurate even if they dont as youre going along (and Im not a good artist).

Is this similar to what is at Cal Adv?? We did this on our DL trip in November and DD loved it!! If they've got it at MGM now we'll have to do it!!

Bumping up to see if anyone knows if it is the same as the one at CA....
Thanks!!
