In Loving Memory **Update on this post 2/10/06**

Jean, those are absolutely AMAZING carvings!!! I'm so glad your Dad left a legacy for you to keep a small part of him around forever.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad as well...and there are no words for comfort- Thank you for the link to the carvings...He was an amazing man- My jaw just dropped when I first looked at the picture of the beautiful artwork this man created- Thank you for sharing with us-

Prayers and sympathy to you and your family, the carvings were a true talent, you are blessed to have them to cherish.

Your dad sounded so wonderful. I'm sure he will be missed. No matter how old you are it is very hard to loose a parent. My father died last month so I feel your sorrow. :grouphug: So glad you got that trip to WDW along with all the other wonderful memories that you share.

From your description of your Dad and his amazing and beautiful carvings, it is obvious he was a very patient and loving soul. Thank you for sharing that photo.
It gives a glimpse into what a special person he was.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Holy smokes, those carvings are amazing! What a wonderful gift from your father to have around to look at.

Those are amazing, Jean. What a great treasure those will be for your whole family.

Lisa, I'm sorry for your loss as well. :grouphug:

What a talent your father had, Jean! Was he an outdoorsman? Looking at his carvings, I can almost sense the hours he spent observing the birds in their natural habitat. It's wonderful that you have something like this to hold in your hand in addition to the memories you hold in your heart.

Pat

300 days and counting . . . again!

Wow -- what a talent he had!!! I think it's absolutely wonderful that you have so many keepsakes on hand. They will help keep his memory alive for generations to come. :goodvibes

From another who has lost a parent, I am so sorry for what you're going through. Losing a loved one is something we can't escape forever. Your Dad seems like he was a wonderful man and father. :grouphug: to you and your family.

Your Dad was a remarkable person. I ma sorry for your loss. Kee pin your heart, and he will be with you.

We are having our first trip to WDW without my dear MIL. Both she and my FIL would travel w/ us every year. She passed away 4 days after Christmas after a Sept. diagnosis of lung cancer-she was only 62. As you said, it is important to keep family close and for us DVC has been one way to do that. MY children loved having thier grandma w/them whenever we went away. This one will be tough. :grouphug:

Jean, my condolences on the loss of your father. So glad that you can spend the rest of your lives reliving those happy memories!

Jean - I lost my mother last Summer and am sooo sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

My parents had gone to Disney World once with me when I was younger and a few times since with friends of theirs. They never stayed on property or in the Orlando area and my mother had difficulty walking and didn't know that she could rent a scooter at the parks to make her visits more enjoyable. When my husband and I bought into DVC we could not wait to take my parents and show them how to do Disney right, including renting a scooter for my mother. Unfortunately, we lost Mom before we could take our trip. We asked my father to join us on our trip this past December, but I think that the thought of going without my mother was too difficult for him.

I also want to remind everyone to cherish everyday that you have with your loved ones and to do today, the things you want to do: take the trip you've always wanted to go on, call the old friend you haven't talked to in years, and just enjoy life....

those carving are absolutely beautiful - you can tell he really new and loved those birds...

I am so glad you have happy memories of him!!!! :goodvibes
