In lieu of fireworks...

DD10 and I are headed to the world in May and she is not a fan of fireworks! It's the noise that freaks her out, so in the past we tend to watch from afar. We have another family trip planned for 4th of July, so I am hoping she will wear earplugs and watch those special fireworks from a distance.

She suggested that we ride 7DMT during HEA. Any other suggestions for rides open during MK and Epcot fireworks?

Thanks!

Many fireworks fans suggest riding 7DMt during the fireworks for a great fireworks experience as you are in the middle of the castle and background fireworks.

I would stay with indoor attractions if you want to avoid the fireworks.
PP usually has short standby waits during the fireworks, but it’s fairly loud around there.
(And especially avoid the Splash/BTMRR area as fireworks seem loudest around there.)

At Epcot, FEA generally has short lines during the fireworks, but they would be loud while not in the building. Soarin and Living with the Land would be more quiet.

You may already know this but just wanted to note that being in/around 7DMT is among the loudest places you can be in the MK during a fireworks show. With the ones going off on/around the castle and the major bursts behind the MK, it’s a loud spot. Being further away - like BTMR or in Tomorrowland - will help with the noise a bit.

Hope you can find a spot that works for your family.

If you want to see the fireworks with no loud booms try to get a reservation at California Grill for that night. We ended up with a reservation there last year that I snagged maybe a week before. The outside viewing area was jammed, but we were at a table, could see the fireworks (just not all of the castle projections) and the music was piped in, but no big booming. On the 4th itself the ending is more intense that normal, so you may want to keep that in mind (lots of fireworks for various locations around the seven seas lagoon area ... at least I think that is where they were all coming from).

I was going to suggest this. You're far away but can still see them. You could also consider Ohana's, because you can also see fireworks from there. Same for Epcot - consider having dinner when the fireworks will be happening. You could also do what someone else suggested and head over to Soarin', the Seas, or Mission Space. Those are all inside so you won't hear the fireworks as much.

My DS has sound issues and for years we had to be clear of the parks .........

No ............. New Fantasyland is surrounded by the fireworks, they are LOUD LOUD like bombs dropping. The ground even shakes. I would not be there if she doesn't like the noise.

Spots to watch and not intimidated ..... Sit on the wall in front of the Tiki Bird Show. We grab a treat and sit there for a nice view, low booms and feeling quite insulated. Again grab a snack and sit over in the tables/chairs along Speedway on way to Space Mountain. And you can stand on the bridge closest to the river in front of Splash Mountain, some nice views there but you feel safely away.

Epcot .... many stand on the pathway between the WS and the big fountain in FutureWorld. It gives you a nice wide view of the airborne stuff and you don't feel like it's on top of you.

And if you can get in to California Grill ....... go out on observation deck ............ she will be WOWED!

The further toward the back of MK you get, the closer to the loud fireworks you get.

For someone that doesn't like loud fireworks, HEA is likely the best show to see. The big fireworks are shot from behind the park so their not up close to you, then add in the music of the show, it's really not that loud imo. It's not like in your face fireworks

That is quite true, my son lives behind the Magic Kingdom, not far from New Fantasyland. There are fireworks set off right behind Tomorrowland and New Fantasyland. The fireworks are quite loud back there and at his place.

Indoors, potc area, Big Thunder Mountain would be quieter.

I still think BTMRR is a very loud place for fireworks as sound bounces off the water of Rivers of America really well.

If you want to watch the fireworks from afar, the TTC is a great place to view them. You'll be just about center to see everything behind the castle. Plus even though you can't really see the projections, the perspective makes the fireworks look huge compared to the castle.

Yup, TTC, Poly or Contemporary. We've ridden the HM during fireworks and you can still hear the impact thuds even on the ride, it's rather muffled, but you still know that fireworks are going off.

My 11 year old son and I rode Barnstormer 6 times in a row (without getting off) last month. It was right at closing so there was only one other family on the ride with us. I don’t remember it being particularly loud but we did get some good views of the fireworks while riding around.

OP here! Wow! Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I should edit to add that she doesn’t truly meltdown by the noise but she clearly is not a fan. We’ve been in the park for HEA at MNSSHP and watched from further back on Main Street for example and she was ok, but clearly kept judging us closer to the exit during the whole show.

She loves Big Thunder so I think that’s a fantastic plan. Or if she’s up for it we are DVC members and can watch from Top of the World lounge in May.

And Soarin or FEA would be perfect at Epcot! Didn’t think of those!

Thanks again. I’m so appreciative of all the suggestions!

Oh if you have never done this DO IT! The view from high up there is so much different. To have a complete overall view is truly impressive.

I think a great place to 'escape' boomers at MK is Space Mtn. Long line, all indoors. If they are still on when exiting, the courtyard between CoP and Space is a nice resting place, usually few people, & can see higher fireworks.

Aren't there over the whole ear nose cancelling headphones? Like the ones they wear on shooting ranges, etc?

Are ride wait times generally shorter during and shortly before the fireworks?

They use to be but I really don't think that's the case anymore. Nowadays you won't see them drastically drop. You might see BTMRR go from 60 min down to 50 min.

The hub will draw a ton of people away from the rides, but it doesn't really make the ride waits a lot shorter.
