It sounds like grandma and grandpa are worriers, I wouldn't force them to do something that makes them uncomfortable. It may be best to leave visits to the grandparents for the weekends, and hire a sitter to watch them during the week. This way you can instruct the sitter to take them out during the day to the park, etc..
