Ok, so we just booked our first family cruise :cool1:, and I know I should be posting this on cruise critic, but you guys are more fun :thumbsup2! So, here's my dilemma. This summer, we went to visit DH's family. We stayed for a couple of days at BIL and SIL's house. We had a great time with them, and we talked about how we should all do a cruise together. Well, we convinced SIL (DH's sister) to come to DH's parents' house for the rest of the week that we were up there (b/c we were having such a good time). The second she was away from BIL, she decided to dump her kids on us for the rest of the week :sad2:. So, now we've booked this cruise and haven't even told them about it, b/c we don't want SIL to dump her kids on us all week (we're not 100% sure this would happen since she seems to be better behaved when BIL is there, but we really don't want to take the chance of ruining our vacation either!). Is there anyway to politely get out of our previous offer?? They're going to find out that we're going on a cruise sooner or later. . .--Katie

From what you've posted, it doesn't sound like you discussed a particular cruise or a specific timeline. In that case, it's easy. If they say anything about this cruise, you can explain that you wanted to do your first family cruise with just your immediate family, but that you definitely still want to do a cruise with them sometime. That time might never come, but they don't need to know that right now. Don't act like you feel badly about it, don't act like there's anything wrong with what you are doing (because there isn't!) and just be matter-of-fact about it. Have fun on your cruise, and don't feel bad about this at all.
