In and Out in a Day

Robin – My doctor is definitely taking the surgery as a last resort option with me. Unfortunately I may have spoken too soon. Both of my thumbs were hurting enough for me to take a pain pill yesterday afternoon. Hoping today is better.

Glynis – I haven’t heard about making the liquid laundry soap, is it a lot of work?

Becky – No promo codes for me, used my DVC points. Your Christmas tree was so pretty and the ornaments were stunning. I don't blame John for wanting to keep it up!

WFD – Pork chops Pizzaiola, oven roasted potatoes and broccoli.

Glynis – I haven’t heard about making the liquid laundry soap, is it a lot of work?

It's not difficult at all. The hardest part was finding a store that carried the Fels Naptha bar! Basically, you grate up a Fels Naptha (or Zote) bar and melt it on the stove with 4 cups of hot water. Once it's melted you fill a 5 gallon bucket half full with hot tap water, the melted soap mixture, 1 cup WASHING soda, and 1/2 cup Borax. Mix it all together until the powder dissolves, and then fill the bucket to the top with hot water. Stir, put the lid on the bucket and let it sit overnight. It will gel quite a bit over night. Next day, you take your containers (I'm using gallon milk jugs), and fill them half full with the gel soap, then water to the top. Shake and store. That's it.

My sister has been doing it for the last 2 years, and she swears by it. I'm hoping it works like she says, because it made a TON! Basically, it breaks down to just pennies a load. I'm also hoping it will help Mary's eczema, as there is no smell involved, at all. Cross your fingers!!!

WOW!! There is a big wonderful world out there. I have really put in the overtime hours here lately. No rest for the wicked!! But as of yesterday I really can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Man year end, all by yourself is not fun!!

Glynis ~ I use to make all of my own soap when the kids were small. Once I started working outside the house I don't any more. I loved to make lye soap, never heard of the liquid soap. Sounds really interesting. Good grief I made all our bread, crackers, graham crackers, butter and sewed most of the kids clothes. I can't believe I did - but I did!!

Kat ~ Good for you!! I hope the injections continue to help. I wouldn't want surgery either. But like Robin said - you will know when the time is right.

Lucas ~ Welcome!!

Robin ~ I love having Christmas up also. With Doug being off with his surgery we really had fun getting it all out. I got it all down and put away this weekend. My house looks naked! :rotfl2:

PIO ~ Happy first day - now second - day back to work. I just chuckled when you said you forgot what floor you worked on. Yep!!!........that was a good vacation.

Becky ~ Your tree was beautiful. I can totally understand leaving it up.
Would you believe in over 15 years of going to WDW and never getting a pin, either by email or a postcard, last week there was one in the mail. I had to chuckle though as it was addresses to Elizabeth. What is up with that? She has never paid or reserved a room. She has always been with us and everthing is in my name. But there is was - strange. Can I use it even though it is in her name? It was a wonderful deal!!

As I said to start this post, I am finally seeing progress with all of the work that Year End brings. I have put in some many long days. But today is the first day I really feel that I have won!! Still things to do but I can handle it. Good feeling!! Hopefully I can have some good time to play a bit. ;) I really miss you all when I don't check in every day.

WFDT ~ Hot beef sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy.

Make it a great day!!

Marilyn - Wow, you've made me tired just reading your schedule! Hope your toothache is better! I need to make some of those appointments myself.:(

It is better however I have to have a special cat-scan done of the tooth before they do anything to it. The endodontist wants to make sure it is not cracked. Minute cracks will not show up on a regular x-ray and he's afraid that if there are any and he starts to mess with it it can cause a bigger issue.

If it is cracked they will have to remove it, if not then he is thinking that he will just redo the root canal and also remove the post that is currently in there, it's longer then he thinks it should be.

I have a half busy weekend. One godson has a b-ball game and his brother has a track meet on Saturday. Sunday is going to be spent cleaning my house.

Afternoon girls,

Merle ~ oh sweetie, that sounds very painful. I hate toothaches. They are the worst pain ever. I so hope something can be done. :goodvibes

I am going to kill Pastor Tess. :furious: Do ya think that is a double sin where she is of the cloth? Truly though, she is the biggest procrastinator there is. Year end stats are due tomorrow. I have been after her for 2 weeks to get me the sheets that I am responsible for. Finally had to call the District Office to get them, and then last night she told me that she has done none of them - AT ALL!! She is leaving for vacation today so could I please do them and get them posted. :scared1:   :sad2: :furious:!!! Needless to say, I am not a happy camper this morning.

Doug felt so sorry for me he brought me a latte and scone this morning to make me feel better. It helped some.

WFDT ~ Sirloins, baked potatoes and a green salad and a glass - heck maybe the whole bottle of wine.

Make it a great day all!!

Sooooooo, this is where all the cool kids hang out! :)

I've seen this thread before but for some reason just clicked on it today.

Nice to "see" ya'll!

Nice to see you too! I have missed you!

Nan - I hope your evening with Buddy's boss and his wife went well! The surgery is thumb arthroplasty and it will indeed be a six week recovery for each hand. Since we have a WDW trip planned for 3/1 my doc said I should wait until after that for the first surgery. He gave me a few cortisone shots in each hand and diagnosed a trigger finger on my left hand, so we'll probably start with the left hand in March.
.

Kat- dinner is Saturday night and I should be getting ready but nope..........Pinterest is calling me :rotfl:
I am so sorry to see you suffer and do hope that the injections help. I saw that the pain was acting up again but hope that the shots even it out.

Alan starts his last semester of school today!
The weather here has been really cold, lately! We've found a fun way to deal with it, though. In one of our large cocoa mugs, we boil some water, then run to the porch and throw it into the air. If the weather is below freezing, the water freezes and turns to steam before it touches the ground! It's really "Harry Potter" looking! The kids love it!
Also on tap today, is making my own laundry soap! Just call me pioneer woman!

He is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to try the soap too, but not liquid. I am not happy with my laundry lately so I bought everything to make my own. We'll see. I haven't made it yet but I bought the pail to store it in :thumbsup2

Lucas- it took me a while to find the cool kids also!

You kill me!:lmao:

It was also my first day back at work since before Christmas. My brain hurt from all that focus and concentration and thinking that I had to do today. It started when I got in the elevator and had to remember which floor to press! Would you believe I couldn't even remember what level I worked on....???

I agree, that means you had a great vacation!

Hi everyone! Jumping back in. I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays. It was busy but lots of fun too. We had some good food and relaxing time, watched some movies, caught up on sleep :rotfl: Yesterday was my first day back to work so it was quite a long break this year.

Glad that your break was nice and lazy! The way it is supposed to be!

Ellen- I used to be like that but not as discilplined. I do not understand why I had enough time when I had three little ones but with jut me and Bud I have not a minute to spare :confused3:rotfl2:

I just got a PIN delivered her for Donny. He has not lived here in ten years and has never been to Disney. What's up with that? :lmao:

WOw! Sounds painful!

So I have sent the day baking rolls and bread. Practice for Saturday. I should be cleaning but have been watching the tree come down instead. Tomorrow I will pay for this sluggery. :worried:

Good morning. It's Saturday here and the temperatures are finally cooler. We're expecting mid 70's today. Still a lot of bushfire activity and threat around the country.

I'm just planning on cleaning the house and relaxing today. Been a rather busy week for me.

Hope you are all well.

/
Dreary day here today. I haven't seen the sun in 3 days.

Nan ~ You are going all out for Saturday.....homemade bread and rolls. Good girl. :rotfl: I sure hope they appreciate it.

PIO ~ Those fires sound scarey. Be watchful!!

Kat ~ How are you feeling today?

Merle ~ Any relief for the tooth? What is the verdict?

Another hour and I can put this hellish week behind me. I knew it was going to be busy and frustrating I just didn't realize how much. :scared1: I hope you all have a good weekend.

WFDT ~ taco ring (an old Pampered Chef recipe that I had forgot about but use to do quite often) , spanish rice and a green salad.

Make it a great day!!

Merle ~ oh sweetie, that sounds very painful. I hate toothaches. They are the worst pain ever. I so hope something can be done. :goodvibes

I am hoping it is an easy fix especially now that I have to have a tooth removed. :headache: When I went to have the other tooth finished, had a root canal but hadn't gone back for the crown, she discovered it had cracked in two places straight up into the gum. :sad2: Unfortunately she can't just do the crown because it is cracked too far into the gum line. It doesn't hurt me so I am not sure how it happened or when.

Hopefully a fairly quiet weekend. I do have a game to watch tomorrow, Ravens vs Broncos.

Ellen – I can sympathize with you on the year end work but I would have been upset with Pastor Tess too even if it is a double sin!!!;)

Marilyn – Good luck with that darned tooth. Hopefully, whatever is decided, will bring you relief with as little pain as possible.

Nan – I’m sure everything will be awesome tonight, have fun!

One week after the injections my thumbs are doing ok. Still painful but not unbearable like it was before.:)

WFD - Roast chicken with lemon and garlic gravy, sweet potatoes and a salad.

Kathy- glad the thumbs are doing okay. How painful are the injections? I think they are in my future, but I might not have enough cartilage left for it to even be an option.

Ellen- my coworker does something similar and it drives me crazy! I'm off for many months and last year when I went back to work he had a pile of work from months that should have been done weekly, he thought it would be easier if I did it. I almost walked out the door. It involves a lot of numbers and I know he saves it for me because he stinks at numbers but still. Somehow I never managed to find the time to get his work done. This is the first year I don't want to go back to work in the spring.

Nancy- hope your dinner went well. I love homemade bread but I rarely make it. I just don't have that kind of willpower not to eat it all. Bread and butter would be my last meal choice. I recently made a copycat recipe of olive gardens breadsticks, I had more than my fair share!

Well folks the flu has hit my house- that's why I'm playing online on a Saturday night. So far the kiddo and I are okay but my husband has been up in bed all day. I can tell he's really sick because so far it's been pretty easy on me! He's only a pain in the bum when he had the sniffles, when he's really sick he just stays in bed and doesn't whine. I haven't been sick in 2 1/2 years so I'm hoping to keep that streak going.

Have a great rest of the weekend all, it's supposed to be almost 50 degrees tomorrow so I might be able to get some yard work done in January!

Robin- Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Flu! My sister works at Childrens and she said she work work 24/7 kids are that sick, Flu and RSV combined. A sick hubby is bad but I pray it stays away from you and the kiddos/

Marilyn- I hate hate hate the dentist so I hope you have an easy fix too!

Ellen- It's the weekend! No more work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had some sun today but we have been overcast too . I hate it. I love sunny days!

Kat-I am praying that your thumbs continue to improve. I really hope you can avoid surgery!

PIO- relax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So dinner went really well! ended up skipping the bread, I was too frazzled. I don't know why because my friend is the best! I will post the recipe though because it made the best toast the next day.......Robin- no peeking, it is addictive! It is a batter bread so no kneading, very simple!

We had a nice dinner, stuffed mushrooms, salad and French bread to start. Prime rib roast, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrot gratin (jen's YUMMY) and cole slaw that Jeannie made for dinner. I made a pineapple upside down cake with whipped cream for dessert but no one could eat it. We had cordials and an assortment of my wines with dinner.

Daniel and Erica are taking us to a concert tomorrow night so I think we will get a bite to eat out. They want Chowder Pot and I am fine with that but I really have been wanting Texas Roadhouse. I love their rolls and butter!

I think I am going to buy a still. Welby said we can have it in 2 weeks but I want to wait until Spring. I think we are going to be Moonshiners! But not to sell...................Buddy already told me he will not post bail :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: and Brian said he already has stated saving in case we get into trouble. No Faith! ** have told him that we can make what we want , we just have to drink it ourselves! I want to learn how to make fruit brandy. So I am going back to my wine, I am on my second glass!

Just a quick check in right now.

I hope that everyone is doing well. I've been busy with 3D life and am starting to gear up for Chinese New Year and working out how to organise work for the next 5 months. Suffice to say, the more I plan and organise, the easier work becomes. So, I put the effort it up front so that I have a decent plan of attack.

We've just started the Australian Open Tennis here and the next two weeks the city will be a-buzz with racquets, tennis players and loads of people around the sports precinct. Who knows? I may even bump into a couple of tennis players around town. Problem is....I probably wouldn't even recognise them if I fell over them!! :rotfl:

Keep well all. I wish everyone who is feeling poorly a speedy recovery.

Good morning! It is FRIGID here!!! Really low temps, which makes me cranky!!!

It's the end of the semester for Jacob and Katie and they are excited to move on to new classes (Katie, only one, but Jacob gets 4 new classes). Biggest news is that Jacob decided that, in addition to the trumpet, he wants to play the French horn. So, he dipped into his own money to pay the rental fee for the horn for the remainder of the year. He also bought his own lesson book so he can catch up with the beginning band. He's loving it. This happened on Thursday, and he's already doing so well! I asked him why he wanted to add another instrument right now, and he said, French horn players get scholarships! Thinking ahead, that boy!

Dinner tonight will be tacos. It's Alan's late night at school, so I want something that the kids will eat and not complain about. I am going to try something a little different, though. I'll fill the shells, then bake them in the oven. My SIL swears by it!

Kathy- glad the thumbs are doing okay. How painful are the injections? I think they are in my future, but I might not have enough cartilage left for it to even be an option.

I didn't find the injections all that painful. My doctor said he was "impressed" that I wasn't complaining but honestly it wasn't bad at all!!

Robin - How is everyone? Hopefully your DH is better and no one else has gotten sick.

Nan - Your dinner sounded awesome! Moonshiner Nan and her still, oh boy, good times indeed!!!:rotfl:

Glynis - Good luck to Katie and Jacob! I'm curious about those tacos, let me know how they turn out!

WFD - Lots of leftovers in the frig so no cooking for me!

Morning Girls,

Merle ~ There isn't much worse than tooth pain. I sure hope you get some relief soon.

Kat ~ Oh sweetie, I so worry about you. I am glad that you are getting some relief though. Please take care!!

Robin ~ OH NO!!! I sure hope DH starts feeling better real soon. This flu this year is just brutal. They are falling like fleas here in NE. I have had my shot and Clorox EVERYTHING - I sure hope I don't get it.

Nan ~ I am so glad to hear that Saturday went good. I knew it would but I am glad you had fun also.
Now about this still--------------------you go girl. You tell Buddy that your friends in NE will help with bail money. :rotfl2:
I love 'ya girl.
I would love to have your batter bread recipe. Please share.

PIO ~ Organized is always a good thing. I am a VERY almost OCD organizer. But my life, job, house and everything in general just runs better being organized. Good for you!!

Glynis ~ Now that is a smart Boy!! Don't ya sometimes just stand back and marvel at how smart the kids are these days. Good for him - you have raised him right lady.

I had such grand plans for the weekend. I was going to do laundry, get some meals ready for the week, organize and purge my closet. You know what they say about the best laid plans..............yea none of it happened. Friday, Elizabeth called and wanted us to watch Liam as she needed to go out of town on Saturday. Jay was at Guards and Ethan had a play date. Of course we said yes. Went to the Basketball game Saturday night. Sunday we went to church and during coffee, Elizabeth wanted to know if we wanted to go to the Home Show in Kearney. Doug had already made plans with Marty to help him put in a new heater in his garage so sure I guess I can go. So we hurried home, changed clothes, picked Stephanie and Lilly up, dropped Doug off and met Elizabeth at the Home Show. We had a ball!! Decided we weren't finished yet so hit the Mall and then out to dinner. I was sitting there thinking of all the things I should have done and realized that I was doing the BEST thing - having a great time with my 2 girls and my precious grandbabies. At that moment Life couln't get much better. We got home at 10:00 last night went straight to bed. When I got up this morning I looked around my house and realized it was ok to not do anything - it will all be there another day.

WFDT ~ Pork Chops, broccoli, roasted potatoes and stewed tomatoes.

Make it a great day.
