In and Out in a Day

PIO- The power has held but the internet is spotty. It was driving me up a wall yesterday because I was trying to pay bills and every time I signed in to pay one, the service cut out. I finally got them all paid.

We are tearing our carpet out. It's disgusting. We need to go find flooring. I think we are going to go with a wood laminate, but we are going to go look at what they have in the stores. All the stuff from our living room is in plastic bins in a spare room and the we've got about half the room down to the subfloor. It smells bad. It's probably the source of my headache; it appears to be moldy.

I don't know WFD. DH says we have to go to the store. I said I just went to the store. He says yeah but we only have chicken. It's already 4 and I have a migraine, need to do lesson plans for tomorrow, finish the laundry, go to two hardware stores, and now also the grocery store. I think Popeyes might be in my future. ::yes:: And alcohol.

Sorry I haven't been around. Had to go to the doctor on Friday, I have an upper respiratory infection that has knocked the crap out of me. Got a shot and antibiotics, should be better soon.

Glynis - I'm giving up on Dr Zhivago. It's just putting me to sleep every time I pick it up. It's a wonder it translated to a great movie and a fantastic musical!

Bethany - Sorry about your carpet. But on the good side....at least you're getting rid of the mould that is causing your headaches and I'll get the floor will look great afterwards.

Kat - That URTI does not sound good. Hope you're feeling better and that the antibiotics are kicking in by now. Rest and recover!

Nancy - If you're reading this, I miss you and hope that you're recovery is going well.

Well....Nearly the end of Monday now. I decided to stop by the local bakery and pick up one of their leek and carrot quiches for dinner tonight. Gonna serve it with a salad.
I managed to find about 20 minutes today where I sat on the grass at the local park and just enjoyed the sun. I even had a cup of tea with me in one of those eco-travel cups! It was really pleasant until the sun went behind the clouds and then it was COLD!
I'm back at work tomorrow; so I probably won't be checking in until much later.

Have a great day all.

Bethany - So sorry about your floor! However, I'm so glad you are getting the mold taken care of. That stuff can be very scary! I want pictures of the new floor!

Kat - I hate URTI's! They wear me out like no other sickness! Please take care of yourself!!!

PIO - I think I would give up on the book, too! Life is too short and there are way too many other good books that need to be read! Glad you got to enjoy some sun today! No sun in our forecast. We are supposed to be getting rain throughout the day. We need it, so I can't complain, but I do hate the gloominess of a rainy day. I need to do something to brighten it up! I'm thinking cookies!!!

Dinner tonight will be King Ranch Macaroni and Cheese. It's a recipe I found on Pinterest, and it sounded good and easy and comforting!

Good Morning! Quick in...

Kat, feel better.

POI, I am glad youre feeling better. Sounds like you had a nice 20 min to yourself. Our weather is starting to get a bit cooler here so we have been spending a lot of time outdoors.

Bethany, sorry about your floors. that is probably the cause of your allergies, etc.

I just lost my train of thought since T is sorting through the fridge. A also texted me from school that he is not feeling well. I will try and BBL.

Dinner is chicken parm, spaghetti, rolls and salad.

Aimee - Did the appliances get sold??? It's nice to see you posting, again. I've been lurking on your blog, so I'm following your progress. Hopefully, you are feeling ok???? I know that the break is so hard to deal with, but it sounds like it's healing ok.

Yes! Thankfully, they came like they said they would and bought both. So nice to have that taken care of!

Feeling okay. I'm on high dose cipro for my leg infection which makes me feel icky all the time. The leg wound is still not healed so that's holding everything else hostage. If I didn't have that complication, i'd be walking again :( I'm so tired of this!!

I surely miss Becky's pics. COME BACK BECKY!!!!

I do too!! Works of art!

Aimee ~ Oh my goodness, you really made my day. I have so missed you, and I am so excited you are posting to us again. I have tried to follow your move on FB (I'm not the best FB person). How are things? Are you all settled?

Hey friend! How was the festival? Did y'all have a good weekend away?

We are far from settled but the house is mostly livable now! I figure it can wait for my leg to get fixed. :)

We are tearing our carpet out. It's disgusting. We need to go find flooring. I think we are going to go with a wood laminate, but we are going to go look at what they have in the stores. We have wood laminate in our new house and really like it so far! I hope you're able to find a good deal on something you like.

Sorry I haven't been around. Had to go to the doctor on Friday, I have an upper respiratory infection that has knocked the crap out of me. Got a shot and antibiotics, should be better soon.

Boo! I hate those. I hope the meds kick in soon!

Busy Monday! Tonight we're having jambalaya :)

I hope your first day back to work is going ok. Please don't wear yourself out to much or you will be sick again.

Nan ~ Oh lady I hope your are ok. I have really been thinking about you. Hopefully you are just to busy to check in. Healing dust heading your way.

Lauren ~ I don't know how you do all you do. Oh and I wanted to tell you - you looked amazing in your outfit for the party. Just beautiful!!

Glynis ~ that King Ranch Mac and Cheese sounds so good. Was it?? If so please share.

Aimee ~ I am so sorry you are still dealing with your leg. Bless your heart.
The Festival was a ball, thanks for asking.

We are to reach into the high 90's close to and some areas are to get to 100. I am so over this hotter than he** weather. Plus we have had NO I mean NO moisture at all this summer. The news was saying last week that the whole state of Nebraska is in Extreme drought. The worst in the whole nation. Not a very good thing to be known for. I can't tell you how sad it is here. We have friends that have had to give up their horses as there is just nothing for them to feed on. We are already havesting. Corn is begining to be cut. Soybeans are done and we only got 2 cutting on the alfalfa (we usually get 4 -5 cuttings). Sacary scary times. I know you all are sick of me complaining, and it really doesn't help, but we could really use some heavy prayers for a break in this weather. It is just so sad!! Thanks for letting me vent.

I will try to be back later.

Hello everyone! :wave2: I am jumping back in after a long break. I hope you are all well. I didn't have a chance to read all of the way back, but I promise to do better at keeping up and chatting from now on!

Aimee, I am so sorry that your leg is not healed. I hope it is better soon.

Kat, I hope you feel better soon!

Bethany, ugh on the flooring. I have mold allergies too so I can sympathize. When I moved into my house it had wall to wall carpeting andI was always getting sick. We ripped it out and replaced with Pergo and I have not had issues since!

WFD: not sure, we spent the weekend out on Cape Cod for Caili's 11th (!!!) birthday and drove up to Boston and work from the Cape this morning. I haven't been back to the house yet and I can't remember what, if anything, is in the fridge!

Yay!!! Welcome back!!!! It's starting to feel like old times!!!

I'm jumping back in without having read back but I hope to be able to stay caught up with y'all now that I am feeling better.

It does seem like old times again and boy does it ever feel good! Looking forward to chatting with y'all again!:grouphug:

Welcome back Becky!!!!!

It's Monday and that means it's red beans and rice night but with alligator sausage, woohoo!!

Thanks for the good thoughts on the floor. We are replacing it ourselves, so we are HOPING it will look great! :rotfl2:

It's only about 310 square feet that needs replacing right now. We went to Home Depot last night and got some samples. There was a Homelegend Brazilian Cherry sample that is 94c/square foot and a Pergo Presto Gunstock Oak that is $1.77/sq ft. I'm leaning towards the Pergo even though it costs more. Somebody told me they were told that the particular cherry sample I had fades in the sunbeams through the windows and the Pergo is better quality. I've been trying to scratch up the samples and see how sturdy they are. :lmao:

We will go to a floor outlet place tomorrow and probably Lumber Liquidators on Wednesday. We tried to go to Lowes. Their store hours online are longer than their actual store hours. I am not going back to Lowes; the street they are on is a royal pita....and they might be closed anyways!

We ended up getting a frozen pizza and a bottle of wine at Target last night for dinner. All this crappy food is not making me feel very good. At least mentally I'm getting back into the routine of work, which is good since today was very busy and tomorrow looks to be more of the same.

Becky's back!

Ellen - The drought is devastating. And that heat is ridiculous. You need to start cooling off. It's mid-September.

Kathy - Alligator sausage in your red beans! Where'd you get that? I haven't had gator in about a year.

Speaking of gators, I don't know if I posted about the gators at work. I was so sad I didn't see them! Somone brought in two baby gators....maybe a foot long at most. They snuck them in after hours; no kids were around at the time. I saw a photo on a cell phone of a teacher I work a lot with holding one up in each hand in her classroom. :lmao: This was about two weeks before the storm, and it was in the classroom next door to where I had been all day. I don't know where they took them after that, but I know (I think? :rolleyes1) they are not still in the school!

Bethany - I'm so sorry, I thought I had responded to your floor work. Good luck!! I've been getting alligator sausage from Rouse's. They have it in the seafood section. It's pretty good, I've had better, but my guys love it.

Thanks...we need luck! Glad to see you're feeling better.

I'll have to check for it at Rouses. I've been shopping mostly Winn-Dixie and Walmart lately. Walmart is :headache:. My best shopping experience at Walmart recently was pre-Isaac stuff. Go figure. :confused3

Good Morning! Flying by again! T has school today so I have to get him going. A came home early from school yesterday. I think he has some allergy issues. Today he starts HS fall baseball today. Very exciting!

Aimee, sorry to hear your leg is still not healing. Praying. I know you have so much going on.

Becky, great to see you!

Bethany, you will do great with the floors. Tom has done so much over the years just from reading on the internet.

Ellen, thank you for the compliments! My feet are still mad a me for those shoes. They were comfortable but I guess my feet and legs cant take a heel anymore. I pray the weather breaks for all of you. I am sorry its been so rough.

Kat, I've had alligator bites but not sausage. Sounds yummy!

I think Nan checked in over on FB. Gotta go check.

Dinner is comfort food. It has gotten quite a bit cooler lately. Meatloaf, taters/noodles and vegetables, probably corn and peas. Love the combo!

Have a great day! Gotta go wake T and go to the track. Oy! What did I get myself into???!

Glynis - I've been using Dr Z as an excuse for not picking up anything new. I think I can live without heading down those Shades books...and I know I should probably at least skim through one to know the basic storyline.

Lauren - Hope that A is feeling better.

Aimee - Sorry to read that you broke a leg?? And that you've gotten an infection. Hope it clears up soon.

Ellen - I'm so sorry about your weather and drought in Nebraska. It is absolutely heartbreaking to farmers and devastating to not have crops grow because of the lack of moisture. I can only pray and hope that the weather changes for you soon. Here in the state where I live, the drought went for 12 years. It's really only broken about 18 months ago and everyone is still very thankful for the rains.

Becky - Lovely to see you back on line. Hope things are well with you and the family.

Kat - Glad to see you're feeling better.

Bethany - I'm not on FB; so if you do get a picture of your floor, I'll be hoping that you post a picture here so that I can see it.

So it was back to work for me.....and a full on day it was. Tomorrow is likely to be the same but I'm hopeful that it will be quieter for the rest of the week after that.

It's Tuesday here....dinner tonight was baked spuds.

Lauren - Good luck to A with fall ball!

Ellen - Praying for rain for you, such a sad situation. hug

Needing something quick tonight....Salsa chicken & grilled veggies! bbl.....

WooHoo!! Becky is back!! The gang is almost all here. It really does seem like old times. :cool1:

I'm jumping back in without having read back but I hope to be able to stay caught up with y'all now that I am feeling better.

Alligator!! Ya'll eat the strangest things. :rotfl2:
So glad to hear you are feeling better.

Bethany ~ Good luck on the new floor. I am sure it will be beautiful.

Lauren ~ I so agree. I wear heels to church and for an hour or more after my feet are killing me. Thank goodness I don't have to wear them for any longer.

Glynis ~ I agree :thumbsup2 It feels real good!!

PIO ~ Glad to hear your first day back went so good. Now don't be tiring yourself out to much, or you will be sick again. {{Mom face on here}} ;)

Nan ~ Please check in and let us know you are ok!

Thanks so much for all of your kind thoughts. It is what it is and complaining isn't going to help that's for sure, but it just is sad. Thanks for letting me vent.

Another hot and windy day here on the plains. But it is suppose to cool down tomorrow and maybe even rain a bit. We shall see!!

Elizabeth and Jay got their house sold. They have bought a beautiful home here in Lexington. YEA!!!! They decided to stay in town. We are so excited - Kearney isn't but 35 miles away but it would not be the same. I love being able to see them whenever I want. They close on the 11th of October and will move in that weekend. We are just thrilled to say the least. Thanks for all of your prayers for them - I so appreciate them.

WFDT ~ Salmon with peach glaze, raosted brussel sprouts, corn on the cob and sliced strawberries.

Make it a great day!!

I honestly hadn't heard much about the drought in your area... and the extreme heat. Awful. My prayers are with you all

Yay! You're back!

Aimee - Sorry to read that you broke a leg?? And that you've gotten an infection. Hope it clears up soon.

I'm so sorry; I just assume everyone is on FB and knows my whole life story :lmao:

Back in early July, we flew to TX to oversee the packing of our house there. Our dogs were still living in our house so we walked into the house, I put my purse down, and walked out the backdoor with the dogs. Stepped off the porch, rolled my ankle, and went down like a ton of bricks. I knew immediately something was wrong, and boy was it:

img_0518.jpg

It was a compound fracture (enter wound that won't heal) and my whole leg looked freaky.

Long story short: ambulance ride, 3 night hospital stay, surgery, rod and 4 screws, not home to oversee packers, not able to drive back to North Carolina with DH, two flights home alone 5 days post-op.

I've been more less wheelchair bound for 2 months now, though I can put some weight on it now. The wound from the injury was infected, I've done 4 weeks of 1500mg Cipro (and silver nitrate!) to clear that up, which has made me sicker than a dog. He wants to go back into the OR and clean it out for fear of the bone being infected. I want to stick a bandaid on it and go on with my life :)

I see him in an hour to see if I can sweet talk him out of more surgery! Last time, I bought myself 2 more weeks.

Last night I posted we were having jambalaya and completely forgot about a meeting I had to attend... so DH snacked at home and I made it when I got in so we ate late. Tonight I have another meeting so I told him to pick up Taco Bell :)

Hello ladies!

Kat I am glad you are feeling better!

Aimee I hope you got good news at the doctor's today. You must be so frustrated.

Ellen, congrats to Elizabeth and Jay on their new home. It is really great that they will stay so close by to you.

Bethany, I have had my pergo for about eight years now and it is not at all faded. I did have an issue at one point when the woman that cleans my house used some kind of cleaning product that built up on the floor. Getting that off was kind of a pain but if you use the pergo-approved cleaners you will be fine.

So we got home kind of late last night and had to unpack etc. so I just made a pizza for dinner since we were eating at 9 PM. Tonight I think I am making chicken picatta.

Ellen - I'm a newbie when it comes to eating alligator. Johnny & Kyle have eaten quite a lot of it. I've only had it a handful of times and it was mostly fried or in a sausage. Taste is similar to rabbit but texture is more like beef.

I can only imagine how excited you are to have Elizabeth & Jay so close!

Aimee - You have really been through quite an ordeal with that leg. Continued prayers for you, my friend.:goodvibes

Becky - It's so good to have you back!
