Yes I am an idiot and as a native Floridian I know better. I was at the beach yesterday for about two hours with no sunscreen. Yes, I know better and yes I am regretting it now. Through a comedy of errors I am now burned to a crisp!

So, if you have a good sunburn remedy please post it here. A friend today recommended making tea, letting the bags cool, and then applying them. I don't know about that. I've been using aloe gel in the meantime. Help if you can!

Soak a washcloth in cold milk, squeeze it out and apply to skin. It draws out the heat. I hope you feel better.

Take aspirin if you can, every 4 hours. Cool baths seem to help me to. I hope that you feel better soon.

So sorry...I know your pain...as a kid I got some burns that caused fevers. I only recall Solarcaine! It's been a long time since I've had a burn. I don't go in the sun at all anymore. Are you sure it's not sun poisoning? You might need to see a dr. Take some Tyelnol also, that should help.

OOh....I've been there, done that and I feel your pain! I always think Noxema helps keep it cool at least and lots of Advil. (Very gently...so it doesn't hurt too much).

Send someone to Walmart to get you some aloe gel with lidocaine in it. Stops the burning, and you can get some sleep.

My secret weapon is the generic prescription Silvadene cream. :lmao: My dd was burned by hot soup really bad and we have a tub of it.

For lesser burns we use the ICE gel stuff. It is like aloe but it has lidocane in it for pain. Very effective and sold where the suncreens are.:thumbsup2

Noxema worked for me when I got a bad burn years ago in Jamaica. Good luck.

I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. DH and I were having brain farts the day we went to the beach at St. Maartin beacuse we didn't bring sunscreen. Don't ask me the degree of UV rays we took in that day, but it sure did hurt.

Could a dr. do something more for it? I don't know, it could be sun poisoning, though it's not quite as bad as some burns I got as a kid. Now that is a scary though!!

ETA - Okay now I see there are prescription creams and the like.

Thanks for all the tips! I will hopefully be better soon. I'm reminded of that Facts of Life episode where they go to Ft. Lauderdale for Spring Break and Joe gets a really bad burn...I'm kinda moving like her! :rotfl2: That's a little humor out of this situation!

I third the use of Noxema. Back when I was in high school I used to get sunburned at least once a year (very stupid, I know especially since my mother died from melanoma when I was 19) and I would get the biggest jar of Noxema I could find and slather it on the burned area and it would cool the skin and keep it soft. Also as others suggested take aspirin for the pain if you can tolerate it.

I second that. Great stuff.

OP, hope you feel better soon.

Aww.. poor you. I feel your pain. When this has happened to me I take an aspirin, put Noxema on my face, and get in a cool bath. After I get out I wash the Noxema off and put on Fruit of the Earth Aloe with lidocaine. I reapply that stuff a lot, but it can build up on your skin so I take a cool bath a few times and reapply when I get out. Nothing but that Aloe Vera and time really helps me.

Hope it feels better soon. :grouphug:

Solarcaine Aloe Extra burn relief with lidocaine. I work in a dry cleaner and it helps when we get burns from the machines.

Pickle Juice! Just pour some dill pickle juice on a facecloth and cover the burn. A relative did that for a burn I had ( i missed a spot with sunscrean) and within minutes it didnt hurt and the tightness was gone. its something to do with the vinager and garlic and other herbs that take the heat and hurt out. but you do smell like a pickle for a while

White vinegar AND baby oil. The vinegar soothes the burn and the baby oil keeps your skin from drying out.

I still remmeber the pain when i got bad sunburn a few years ago. We went rafting and I forgot sunscreen. My legs go so burned I was in tears all night.

I used an Aloe Vera gel.

Cold Mustard out of your fridge!!! It works wonders on all kinds of burns. Just keep reapplying it. It is messy, so you want to be careful with it because it stains everything it touches, but it will make you feel a 100% better!
