Improper Magic Band installation on kids

I didn't take my DD's off for the simple fact that when we go back, who knows if they will be handing them out like candy still and I wanted to ensure it would still fit her.

Sme people think the gray part looks better. Once you take it off, the edge looks a little raggedy. Also, kids might want to keep their bands whole so theirs look just like mom, dad, other sibling, etc.

My 8 year old liked how the bands looked with the grey border and really didn't want to remove hers so we left it. We just tucked the extra band in snugly and she was happy with the way it looked and the extra strap didn't bother her.

I think taking the grey portion off would have made mine just a teeny bit too short, but it's way too big the other way. So I just cut a portion of the grey off, and then it fit just fine.

It seems the little pokey things that go through the holes would stick out more since the holes themselves would be shorter. Did they seem bothersome at all?

I didn't notice them at all! I didn't even actually think of that until right now. It was still very comfortable, and even though peeling off the gray part did leave the edges a bit rough, rough still isn't really the right word. It was bumpy plastic but even that I didn't feel, nor did it ever snag on any clothing. I'm really happy they have an option to shorten it - I can't imagine how sweaty it would make my wrist in the summer to have that rubber wrapped around my wrist twice!

I just put on reading glasses to see that small print (on the band, I think the box was thrown out.) Even then I had to search and squint to find it!
But by George, you're right!

Now, how many parents are going to notice that as they strap the bands on their little ones?

(I'm sure it's bigger on the boxes, though.)

I could not read the small print. I was taking DH's word for it. I have trouble reading regular sized print, much less that tiny stuff. He showed me and I said it looked like some dirt smudged on the back. IIRC it's there in English, Spanish and French.

Or DH is pulling my leg.

And guests will do the same for all the graphic MagicBands. If the outer segment is removed, it destroys the look of the graphic on the band.

It didn't bother me. I wore the MB below my wristwatch and didn't even notice it. Didn't bother me or my DD when we did the 5K during the Princess weekend.

It doesn't bother me at all! I find it rather comfortable. I'm weird about things on my wrist. I'm okay with a wristwatch but those
paper wristbands you get as admission ick me out. I don't know why.

I've been worrying and worrying about MBs. Since we're staying offsite and (probably) buying tickets from a broker I didn't need to attach them to a MB. The convenience though was causing me to consider it.

After months of worry I just went and bought one so i could see for myself.

You aren't going to feel the "points" through the size holes anymore without the gray trim as with the gray trim.

The trim is just that, trim....it doesn't change the thickness of the band itself!

Okay, I see that now. For some reason I thought the small one was overlaid on top of the grey, providing more thickness. This is definitely my day to look like a dumbo!

That's good! The Princess MBS will lose significant portions of the Princesses.

Good to know! Thing is it will be obvious on the custom MBs what parts of the graphic will be gone when the trim is removed before a person makes the decision to do so.

Sounds as though some graphics it won't affect and others it would.

Personally DH & I were worried it would be big enough and it was plenty big for both of us Plus sizers. DH uses a pocket watch because he has huge wrists and even he didn't use the last hole on the band.

IMO they gave size a great deal of consideration making it easily large enough AND having the option to turn it into a small band as well.

i wear mine with the black strip removed and its so much more comfortable

i tried it on my almost 5 month old daughter to see if it would fit (we are taking her in december so there is time for her to grow) and on the smallest button it barely fits

Right. I'm actually going to have to amend what I said earlier - some portions of ears & feet were printed on the border. I can see how it would bother some people, but I think the "break" in the graphic caused by the crease just makes it look odd anyway.

It's like the border of a sticker - if you remove the sticker from the paper, some of the border gets left behind. I don't think too many kids will be upset about it.

They can also be trimmed easily with scissors to the length you want. If your kids still want the grey part around the outside, or if you are a smaller adult with a lot of extra band that you don't need you could try it.

My band is right on the border between needing the grey off and keeping it on. I decided to take the scissors to it and chance it--worried that it might be uncomfortable if I did. It worked great though, and now I don't have a ton of extra band to wrap around my wrist while snapping it!

My only comment is that MagicBands do not need to be worn to be used. I just tuck mine (I'm five foot nothing and have extremely small everything) into a bag or a pocket and still enjoy what I want at Disney World.

A MagicBand is like a timepiece. You can wear it on your wrist or put it in a pocket or a bag.
