Hi,
I just got back from my first DL trip ever this week. I want to thank everyone on here for their great advice that I read.
Some background: Although I have never visited DL before, I visited WDW as a child in the 80s. This time I went to DL with family (wife, 7 yo and 3yo).
Based on what I read here I planned to go early, relax at hotel in late afternoon, and come back again in the evening. That never happened because we kept on wanting to do more things. It was so addicting we never left until closing. The one regret I have is not using MM due to being so tired in the morning. I guess we are more late people in general.
FP is so amazing, it made things go much faster.
My top 5 things:
1. Indiana Jones
2. Fireworks
3. Aladdin
4. Star Tours
5. Toy Story
I was in first row of jeep for IJ which made all the difference.
We got the perfect spot for fireworks which also made it great. WoC was a little hard to see even though we had great spots in yellow section at second section up.
Aladdin was absolutely perfect, first row in second orchestra section due to AAA preferred seating.
Star Tours was great, but given the hype I guess I expected more. Over-rated.
Toy Story was fun because I liked competing against others.
One thing I didn't like was entrance to CA. I keep all the tickets, but they separate strollers and force others in family to go through separate turnstyle which I thought was completely bizarre and annoying. They wasted way more time than if they went with me together.
Another thing was waiting for Minnie Mouse at MM character breakfast. I waited almost 1 hour until she came to that side of the restaurant. But the kids loved the characters so it was worthwhile.
I can't believe how much there is to do there. I had a 5 day park hopper that we used to the max and still couldn't see everything. Almost everything but not quite.
My plan is to revisit in a couple of years when Radiator Springs is finished so my 3 yo can see (he loves Cars). And by then my 7 yo will be over 48" so she'll be able to ride the roller coasters and IJ which she really wanted to do.
Thanks again!
