Impressions from 5/27 - cancelling June 12

Really glad you emphasize the great character interactions! We also had a blast and saw or interacted with so many characters! And did ride everything we wanted to ride. So definitely don't want to seem unnecessarily negative, either. I think for us just thinking about how much we spent for 2-day park hoppers, plus splurging on a hotel stay for convenience...if we return without APs, we'd need more overall to justify the high cost.

Yes, we are both very happy we went, but also not seeing the value we'd like for our three top-tier parkhoppers that we were planning to use on the 12th.

Haha, there is a lot of glitter in my house because of the skirts. MANY people chased us down to talk to us about the outfits. I did not realize we would attract as much attention as we did. Several people tried to convince me that I should sell the skirts, but I'm not dealing with that much glitter in my life. They're actually the easiest skirts I've ever made; they're literally just a piece of fabric cut like a donut and then sewn to an elastic band. I thought I'd need a zipper, but the fabric was stretchy enough to work without one. But we *literally* left a little sparkle wherever we went.

My guess is the limited menu options coupled with the tiny kids meal portions along with the absolutely militant inflexibility in ordering. You get what the menu says , no substitutions. Like, kids can't get fries as a side, even though they have them available at the restaurant. Ridiculous.

Interesting. I went on the 11th and ordered the shrimp and grits. I requested mine without the pork sausage. I didn't get any pushback at all. I enjoyed the dish.

Wow, all this is a little nerve-wracking. We don't have reservations until 7/28, but I'll be watching these conversations carefully to see how things are going in July. Hopefully that's plenty of time for some improvements and more normalcy!

Oh and we miss the bands (DL Band and Pearly Band). I knew we’d miss them, but holy cow we really missed them those days in park. Like physically sad. We’d hear some prerecorded music in NOLA sq. and my DD7 was like “is that the band coming??”

Oh, and every time they raised the volume on the PA system and started playing music…we would just reflexively get so excited…until they played that stupid health/distancing announcement instead. Total fake out. I hated that so much, that’s like putting icing on a dirt sandwich.

Lots of sources online say the Disneyland band is back for rehearsals right now! So I’d guess they’re hitting the park in a couple of weeks!

That’s so cool! Did you have a pattern or just wing it? What kind of fabric did you use? I’ve been looking for a sewing project and skirts can be SO comfortable to wear at the parks!

I just googled “circle skirt calculator” to cut the fabric, and then I decided to sew it to a 2-inch elastic waistband. Any knit fabric could work!

This particular sparkly fabric is from JoAnns - they had it in several colors. It’s normally $20 a yard, but it was 50% off, plus I had a rewards coupon, so it was reasonable. It’s 54 inches wide, so I only needed 2 yards for me and one for her. I wasn’t sure it was stretchy enough and bought zippers, but I didn’t need them... and it didn’t need to be hemmed. We really liked the way it moved and swished. I washed it on delicate and dried on lowest heat to de-glitter it a bit even though it said hand wash only.

That’s probably more info than you needed, but they were very fun and comfy skirts to wear!

I can confirm this is true. I have a friend in the band and he told me a couple weeks ago. He said they're hoping to be back mid-June.

That, I do not know. My friend did say not all musicians were being called back at the same time.
