IMPORTANT: Stay away from

We were told that the WDW gas stations charge competitive prices so that CM's won't get gouged. Just an FYI. We've never had an issue with the stations on 192.

Maybe that particular station gets the people topping off before they return their rental cars? I would think it would be cheaper to pay the rental car rates (which tend to be high, but geez...).

It is about a half hour from the air port so no they do no top off.

If you like Shell, there is a station next to the big McD's on Sand Lake Road that charges pretty much what everyone else does. I use this one routinely but have learned to stay off of International Drive during certain hours. The traffic can be brutal.

We only used shell because we got 50% off when we bought gas cards with our discover points. But thanks sadly we left yesterday. The gas station near Vistana Resort never posted their prices but started doing so this year.

If you have a smartphone, download the GasBuddy app. It'll help you find the best gas prices no matter where you are. It does depend on user input for accurate prices, but it's almost always correct.

OP: Thanks for the info!!

MODS: This would be a great thread over on the Transportation boards to help warn others.

The stretch of 535 from World Center Drive up to about where Giordano's is always has high gas prices. There are a lot of hotels in the area and it is a major exit, so I guess they figure they can get it. Of course if you drive a couple minutes east on World Center Drive, there are reasonably prices stations.

I had heard/read that the HESS stations on WDW property are contractually obligated to not charge more than a certain percentage above their wholesale price. This is why HESS is the only brand you see on WDW property. The deal gives them exclusivity.

The city of Orlando has been trying to do what they can by making them post the price at the street within X feet of the pump. But they're finding ways around it. That one puts it on the narrow part of the sign facing directly out.

A good place to fill up is the 7-11 at the corner of 535 and 536. Just a few blocks down from that Hess, it's usually between 4 and 10 cents cheaper than the gas on property or the other gas stations further up I-Drive or down 535/192.

You know, the first thing the clerk said to my husband when he asked about the price was that it was posted. WEll it was posted but it was so outrageous my husband thought it was the price for cigarettes so even though it was posted the fact that they were selling gas was not all that clear. My husband btw owns his own business and has a masters, he is usually very sharp so for this to throw him IMHO it was not that clear that the posted price was for gas.
