IMPORTANT!!! So I called today to see if we had a pin....

I think that I messed myself up from ever getting pin codes. I had a trip booked and then my son and his wife and one of his friends decided to go at the same time so I booked the friends' trip (it was his and his wife's first trip ever) but didn't have his email address so I gave mine.

Of course they were getting all sorts of pins on my email address. I kept emailing Disney Destinations telling them that the people that they were emailing the pins to weren't at that email address. So now I don't get any at all - for them or me.

And we didn't.

The CM gave me the usual spiel- "Always check your spam folders, pins are sent randomly etc..." I then explained that we had never received email pins before, and that the last pin we had received, 30% off, was revealed simply when I called up on the date we originally booked our December trip.

Here's where things get interesting- The CM explained to me that following the telephone call, he would send a "reminder email" to the marketing department, that given our family travel history he couldn't understand why we haven't received a pin lately and that the marketing folks should have something out to us in the next day or so.

I don't know how much of this was hot air, and how much was truly the work of a helpful castmember, but it was encouraging. It's not that we're without a pin for our December travels, but the 30% off which we presently hold, v. free dining, is a world of difference! Let me know if any of you have similar luck...

Like the pin codes, I think the things CMs say over the phone are also random. :sad2:

It's funny....I knocked myself our trying to get a PIN.....ordered the maps, the DVD, saved vacations, updated my profile, the whole nine yards. Needless to say, I got nothing. Heres the best part though....noticed a huge Minnie Mouse flyer with a pin code sitting on my mother in laws desk with her mail....(she has no intention or desire to go to Disney). Next up, im over my brothers house a day or two later. He says "Is this what you were hoping for for your vacation?" .....and holds up the same Minnie Mouse flyer.

Go figure.

Sorry he got your hopes up but Cast Members don't have anyone to email your name too, especially not to anyone that sends out pin codes. Pin codes are for folks that don't come to WDW. One of the most recent pin codes was for folks that hadn't been to WDW since before the dining plan started being offered. If people come year after year why would Disney need to send them a pin?

Oftentimes when you book through a Travel Agent you have a better chance of getting a pin code as Disney doesn't know that you booked through them. A Travel Agent doesn't tell Disney that you booked, just that Pat Smith is coming to WDW, not their address.

Here's to hoping you get a real pin code with a discount!

PP Comments - So do you think your chance of receiving a pin after booking is slim to none?

Question, if I go ahead and book with dining plan and they soon offer one to the public for my dates, I can change it and the dining will then be free?? Is that right? I don't have a PIN

Yes!!! If you have already booked and a GP offer comes out, all you have to do is call reservations. Now mind you that rooms are limited with the offer, so sometimes I've had to switch hotels around to get the offer. Best advice is watch the disney site and call as soon as the GP offer comes out.

Word on the "street" is that the FD promotion will probably be opening to the public after the "book by" date passes for the PIN holders. Supposedly 1st week in August.

I have also read several threads confirming this. A couple were TA have gotten teaser emails eluding to an up coming anouncement on July 11. So Im holding out hope, you should too.

I have yet to receive any sort of PIN from Disney nor has anyone in my family. What bugs me about that is we visit the World at least twice each year and have been doing so for decades (I'm 28 and trip #47 is in October!). On our last 3 vacations we opted to stay off-site, something that we hadn't done since I was 10, simply because it was cheaper to stay in a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom timeshare than at any of the Deluxe resorts that would comfortably fit 4 adults and 1 toddler. If we'd received a PIN, I'm sure I would have booked differently!

Maybe it's me. But no matter what I do, I can't get a PIN code. I'm thrilled for others who have gotten them, and think it's an awesome bit of financial pixie dust! However, I think our family has simply been forgotten.

I've tried the "do everything except book the trip" trick (at least 5 times), I've signed up for every Disney website and offer, and I've surfed their websites for countless hours (signed in & everything). I've called multiple times to find out if I have a PIN attached to my account. I just get the standard, "Oh, we're sorry...you don't have any PINs attached to your name. They're random, you know. Just keep checking our website, maybe something will come up!"

It is frustrating. Last year, we paid rack rates (used our 5% AAA room discount at the last minute) for our 2 week vacation. This year, it's the same thing - 2 week vacation, no discounts. Certainly, don't rely on discounts - we make sure we can afford rack rates before booking. But it sure would be nice to get the same opportunities other guests seem to get. Heck...maybe we could go more often if we weren't paying full price all the time. I read thread after thread on how people are getting all these discounts, and while I'm happy for their successes, it can become a little disheartening after a while.

In the past 2 weeks, three families on my block have gotten Free Dining PINs in the mail for this fall - exactly during the time when my family is scheduled to be there. Mind you, they haven't been to WDW in years and aren't planning on it this year, so those are wasted discounts.

And here I am...hoping that something will pop up in the next 90 days for us. Hope springs eternal!

I have not gotten one pin or anything this year and I have went to Disney the past 2 years. I have begun to think that maybe my email is not in their system for discounts. Maybe we are both kicked out of the promotion emails :rotfl:
