Important questions about ticket upgrades

I also have read the sticky thread and have questions I can't seem to figure out...Please bear with me... I am hoping to win a raffle where I work ( would seemingly be good odds ) for 4 - 4day PH NE tix ( i assume all adults ) . Now, needless to say I am trying to plan a trip around this win, should I be lucky. My questions are as follows:
1 - Either prior to use or after 1st day use can I add additional days to this for my trip ( up to 10 ? ) or Hypothetically, say I use 3 days then on day 4 ( 1 day remaining , can I add 9 days at that point ? )
2 - Is there a way to convert 2 of these adult tix to children's, or will /can they just use the adult tix. Or, is it more cost effective to just buy them new tix for this trip?
3 - If the NE and PH fee are already paid, I won't have to incur this cost again correct?
4 - For a trip at a later date, if I start out with say 2 days remaining on these tix, can I add extra days at the time of the next trip ( say to 10 ) and theoretically keep the PH /NE option going on from year to year?

So, with all that being contemplated, wish me luck...the raffle is not drawn until June 12, just seemed like a cheap way to get WDW tix, It may be the only way I get there this year..... Thanks in advance for all the Dis knowledge !:worship::worship::worship:

1 - Tickets won in a raffle could potentially not be upgradeable. It all depends on what kind of tickets they are and how the organization obtained them for the raffle.
2 - don't really know
3 - park hopping costs the same no matter the length of ticket, non-expiring price increases as you add ticket days, so you would have to pay more to add NE
4 - no you can't add days at the time of your next trip. All upgrades must be done within 14 days of first using the ticket, which is what was discussed in this thread originally.

Tickets can never have more than 10 total days -- forever. Once you hit 10 days you have to purchase a new ticket.

Basically - take the value of the ticket you have, and subtract it from the value of the ticket you want -- that will tell you what you have to pay for upgrades. Again, provided any raffle tickets are upgradeable.

Didn't you ask this question in another thread already? Or there was someone else after or won a similar raffle...

1) It depends on the tickets first - depending how they were obtained, they may not be upgradable at all. But assuming they are, yes, you can add days, but no more than 10 total, used or unused. So you can NEVER add more than 6 more days.

You can do this before, but since you don't know the purchase price of the tickets, you should use them first, and then any time before the 14th day from first use, upgrade them. You can even have used all 4 days first.

2) Yes, probably - but in this case you must do it BEFORE the tickets are used the first time, and you will only get purchase price in credit. You would also have to get a ticket of equal or greater value as refunds are not (normally) given.

3) If Park Hopper or Water Parks Fun and More options are already on the tickets, you will not have to pay anything related to those in upgrading, as they are a flat fee regardless of the length of the ticket.

No Expire is a different issue. If they have No Expire, then to add days you need to pay for the difference in the cost of the No Expire option and the total number of days as well, as the cost goes up per day.

4) No. As mentioned in 1), you cannot go beyond 10 days total.

...Looks like Vicki and I are dueling over responses in this thread now :)

I'll duel with you anyday, Doc! :hippie:

I'm off to bed so I'll leave all further ticket questions to you!

Wow ! Thanks to both of you for the quick responses... I will have to grill the raffle-runner better next time I see as to what kind / and where from , all I asked/she told me was 4D PH/NE. If I call will CRO be able to give me the cost to upgrade? My planning in some part ( # days/ cat. of hotel ) may depend on add'l cost incurred in the upgrade... Thanks again...

In your case... you really need to wait to see if you win.... good luck BTW ;) and see what kind of tickets they are. Are they for sure MYW tickets? or are they older park hoppers?
If they are older PH, then you have a whole different set of questions.

But to try and answer some of the questions.....
1. you can add days to the ticket up to 10 days. No matter how many days have been used. Each ticket has a maximum of 10 days... total.
2. Don't bother buying new tickets... there's only a $35 difference between child and adult. I'm thinking most "contests" that have 4 tickets.... usually 2 are adults & 2 are kids.... just a thought.
3. If you upgrade to a 10 day pass... you will have to pay the difference of a 4 day PH NE and a 10 day PH NE. So yes, in a sense you will. see my note below...
4. You need to upgrade it within 14 days of first use I think. So do it before you leave.

Now.... something to think about.....
how long do you plan to stay?
Someone tell me if this is not correct... but I think I got it right.......
If you are planning a 9 day trip and want tickets just for that trip... then BEFORE you use the tickets, see if you can change them from 4 day PH NE to 9 day PH. They would give you credit for the entire ticket, then charge you for just what you need.... a PH, expiring.
If you upgrade AFTER the first use you must keep the ticket a PH NE.... the PH portion will remain the same. But.... the amount of Non-Expiring increases with the # of days. So... to upgrade from 4 days to 9 would be an additional $126 + tx. per ticket.

I hope this makes sense.

Wish you luck with the raffle!!;)

Sorry BRETTS! We will be there for 7 nights. I have a 7 day non exp. pass with 5 days left. I also have 1 day ticket base on my room reservation.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like there are great options for you. You could do 6 days at the parks without spending any extra money... using your existing 5 days, plus the 1 day base ticket. It's not a great use of that one day ticket and you still don't get hopping, but it has the advantage of not having to spend any more money now.

Alternately you could upgrade your 1 day base ticket to a two day ticket or two day hopper... that would be $82 (including tax) for the base ticket or $137.38 (including tax) for the 2 day hopper. With your existing 5 days that would give you 7 park days and if you got the 2 day hopper it would let you hop on two of those days. Depending on how much you wanted to hop, that might be a good option.

If you need more hopping days than that, you're going to be better off just upgrading your 1 day ticket to a 7 day hopper for $220.45 (including tax) and saving your existing 5 days for another 5 day trip where you don't need hopping. The reason I say this is because upgrading to a 3 day hopper would be $204.48. Once you get there you may as well spend the extra $16 and save your 5 day ticket.

HTH,
Brett

Is that $220 for adult and children? Thanks for helping me try to figure this mess out. Still disappointed that this ticket stuff is not easier to use.

$220. plus one one day adult base ticket gets you one 7 day adult hopper.

If you win four 4 day tickets and need 8 days, then two people could each use two of the 4 day tickets as-is and the others in the family get brand new tickets for all 8 days.

It's a little less money to expand a child ticket but I don't have the exact number here.

The reason you are finding this ticket stuff so difficult is because there are too many unknowns, including whether the raffle won tickets are or are not upgradable and including your exact park schedule which does or does not include any hopping days.

If the raffle promoter is able to give you the letters and codes on the ticket (omit the bottom line that begins something like Tr:030 ... ; no one should ever give that line out to a stranger as that can cause ticket identity theft.) With the top row or two of coded information a CM may be able to tell you over the phone what kind of ticket it is and its vintage.

$220.45 to upgrade your 1 day ticket to a 7 day hopper for an adult and 197.03 for the upgrade for a child... both numbers are including tax.

Unfortunately the ticketing system is quite confusing and the lack of flexibility on the no expiration tickets doesn't help matters... but 5 days is still a decent trip, so it'll be a good excuse to come back;)

I'll try to see if someone can help me tomorrow! If not I'll cancel and try to go another time! I cannot spend $858.00 in addition to food, spending and travel. Thanks everybody for helping explain these darn tickets to me!
