Important Mummy Information

Guess I misunderstood.

It could have been but wasn't supposed to have been. I think articles got the two parks mixed up.

The newest press release mentions a chasing mummy for us.

The Orlando press release says "a robotic mummy charges them with lightening speed and agility" but doesn't mention jumping on the car.

The original 2003 press release that talks about both rides says "the attraction will include a skeleton warrior who, in the midst of defending the twilight world of his netherworld tomb, literally leaps into the rider’s vehicle".

Sounds pretty cool.

Anyone ridden with young kids, yet? I've got a seven year old who loves coasters, but not so good with spooks. I'd like to hear how other young kids reacted.

We will be at IOA the week of 4/18-4/24. Is there any specific times of day we should try to be there in hopes of getting to ride before the official opening in May?

They've been opening at various times through out the day. When it opens it might be open all day or a short period of time. Saturday is suppose to be the last day for this go around of tech rehearsals and then they will finish the ride and then re-open for some more before the official opening.

NO, NO, NO, PLEASE NO!!! We arrive this Wednesday and have been hoping to ride ROTM on our visit. I was afraid this would happen. I was just getting ready to ask if soft openings were continuing and now I read this:( :( I'm SO disappointed.

Figament, don't panic yet. It may still be opened then. I was there today and it was opened. I'll also be there tomorrow and Monday-Wednesday. I'll be glad to let you know if it is opened those days. Rumors are just rumors. It may indeed close after today but I don't know that for a fact. Even the workers there haven't been told.

Universal is still expecting big crowds next week as it is still spring break for some. (You can tell by looking at the hours posted for next week 8 AM-10:00 PM.) They may decide to keep it opened another week, who knows?

In the 2 times that I have ridden it, I have yet to hear any children cry or ask traumatized from it. There was a young girl who sat next to me the second time. She was about 7 - 8 and even though she was scared from the ride (the scared that you are supposed to feel) she overall loved it

I was told by a few that the rehearsals have been extended another week. So, you may be in luck.

does that include next Saturday? *ccrossing fingers* Yeah, I know I've already been on it...but still!! :hyper:

Questions?

1) Is the date of May 21st, that I've read,is that the official USO opening? Or, is this some other date that someone published.

2) If this date is correct. Will USO have the ROTM ride open ( soft, if you will) as was the case with WDW with MS at Epcot ? If my memory serves me well, I believe that MS was open prior to the official dedication (October) opening for weeks.

3) I was just curious if USO will do this as well. In hope of getting to ride Mummy when we are their May 8th and 9th.

Thanks,

The official opening is May 21st. No one knows for sure if the ride will be open before that. I would assume that if they have everything ready it will be open before that. That was the case with Shrek.

FYI, the Mummy was still opened today for technical rehearsals so rumors of it being closed yesterday, were just that, rumors.

I suspect it will be open all this week. I'll be back Monday-Wednesday this week so if anyone is interested, I can let you know the status on those days.

Phamton,

Thank you, thank you, thank you:) :) This makes me feel much better. Hopefully, when we get down on Wednesday we'll be able to ride. If you can post again on Mon. or Tues. that would be great.

Keeping my fingers crossed.:hyper:

HI All,
I was so happy to ride the mummy 6 times each of the last 3 days, and it was only once closed briefly. Today, however, most of the lights were out and the timing was off, so they do have some work to do. Maybe this means they'll keep testing a bit longer.

Drew

Can anyone tell me what the seat restraints are like on RotM?? I have an irrational fear of overhead restraints since I did Alien Encounter at WDW. Was that ever a claustrophic experience.

Any help greatly appreciated.princess:

They are not over-the-head restraints. They are lapbars.
