I booked my trip for August about a month ago for the Boardwalk Inn and Disney has just offered a discount for trips between 8/3 and 9/27 if you book by 7/27. There is limited availability so not all resorts might be available. You may though find a better deal than the resort you booked and switch. They are calling this the summer getaway. Anyway, I went on the official Disney site, clicked on the summer getaway link, quoted the same trip I had booked a month ago and found a difference of almost $600. I called Disney reservations and they were able to update my booking and credit my account with the difference. This is worth checking out. I also noticed some info on this under the disboards news so you can check that out also. Although I have checked out this site many times, I have never registered until now.
Getting ready for my 6th trip! :smickey:

I called but because I have the free dining, the summer discount does not apply. but if anyone has booked outside of the free dining, this may be a great option.

Thanks for clearing that up, i have free dinning as well, and was about to jump the band wagon, but i can't see disney giving tooo much freebies for one trip

THANK YOU for posting this! I was wondering the same thing and now will not worrying about it, feeling secure that I've gotten the best available deal. :thanks:

Thank you so much for posting this. I went to the website and then called...bottom line is we were able to switch from WL to Beach Club for only $78 (that's it...$78....) wow what a savings! Even the CM was surprised and excited for us.

The code is DDI for anyone who's interested...all you have to do it call and they'll quote you exactly what you get on the website. Amazing!

Stormalong Bay here I come!!! :lovestruc

I would call and ask them to price it - you may find that your "free dining" is actually costing you more money than its worth. That happened to us a 2 years ago.

I agree to check. We're staying 8 nights at POP, so I think we're getting a better deal on the free dining.

but I'm glad someone saved by this post!

I checked online and saw that with the summer promo we would save more than we would by getting our DxDP for the "upgrade fee" (we were on free dining). We're saving ~$200 with the summer promo over free dining for 6 nights/7-day park hopper, DxDP. It's worth checking into.

How are you saving? We're on free dining with an upgrade to deluxe dining, and using this summer rate, we'd pay $500 more for the same plan, same resort, using the special promo the op talked about.

The "FREE DINING" savings is directly equal to the number of people, adults and children, traveling with you.

For 2 adults, the free dining is equal to approximately $80 X the number of nights you stay. For a family with 2 adults and 2 children, it's about $100 savings, per night.

A discount on the room will vary, depending on which level of resort you choose... value, moderate, deluxe, and room type.

A % off a room at a Deluxe could be greater than the free dining, for some families.

You can not apply more than one discount, so you need to figure out which is the better savings for your family.
