Hi,

Couple of questions pre my Disney Fantasty cruise. Is there a hairdryer in the room? Is there a salon on board for a blow dry? Also any UK cruisers - have you taken UK hair straighteners with you and do they work with the diff voltage or should I buy straighteners when I get there? I have frizzy hair, I need to be organised!!

You definitely want to avoid this......
image.jpeg Enjoy your cruise but the Caribbean is brutal for thick frizzy hair. My wife looks like this without her straightener.

do they work with the diff voltage

Actually, there is a European type 220V outlet at the desk area of the Disney Fantasy staterooms. The hair dryers they provide are with the typical continental European plug and are for use at that outlet. I think it is marked "hairdryer 220V". I loved having this outlet as all my German plugs could be used in them. With a UK hair straightener you would need to bring an adapter though. I did a google search and came up with this video:

You can see the 220V plug all the way to the right, here it is not marked, but I am pretty sure that it was marked on our cruise in 2014.

The spa does blow outs for about $35. In all honesty, you're going to be fighting a loosing battle.Just tie your hair back and don't worry about it for the week. :)

Everyone above is correct and there is a salon too. You can book hair services once on board.

Thanks everybody for your replies. That's great advice. I should just go for the 'Monica' look! However I will take me straighteners and hope for the best and book a blow dry mid week for a treat.

My straighteners (UK) are GHDs and are dual voltage so they work very well in the US and onboard ship. I rarely have any problems with frizz due to the heat/wind/humidity as I use a product which keeps my hair under control perfectly.

The hair dryers that are in the room have a diffusor attachment. I say embrace the waves and go au natural. :) I'm so much happier with my hair since dumping my straightener and embracing the Diva 3-step.
